For Morrison, victory would have its price

In an interview with The Iola Register, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius noted that if Johnson County District Attorney Paul Morrison beats Attorney General Phill Kline in November, Morrison will see a $40,000-a-year pay cut. He “is willing to run even if the state office pays so much less than his current job because he thinks it is that important to bring professionalism and competence back to the top legal office in Kansas,” Sebelius said.

And when other highly paid officials on the Republican side of the ticket take a “pay cut” to run for office, will the Eagle write about them in glowing terms? Don’t tell me that this is newsworthy because Sebelius said it, this is the Eagle schilling for Morrison and agitating against Kline. You can always find someone to quote as you do your political work, can’t you?

JRAnd what school says “ain’t” is proper grammer? You use that word quite a bit. And don’t think that someone isn’t keeping count of your typos. Your secretarial skills aren’t the best either, though I bet you make a good cup of coffee JR!My degree, since you keep bringing it up, was in advertising public relations and marketing.I have used it nearly every day of my working life. Again, the ONLY reason I brought up anything at all about myself, in a previous thread, is that I was accused of cutting and pasting from other people. You do realize, of course, that deliberate spelling and punctuation errors are an old trick when you want to prove authenticity of your work at a latter date? Not that many of my “errors” are on purpose, I am simply ammused that my foes here simultaneously accuse me of being too stupid to write my own stuff and then accuse me of making stuff up, both of those accusations made against the SAME post a few days ago.Your personal slams get old JR, but I can count on you, as the election draws near, to alienate and repulse any moderates or independents that look at these pages.Your ego is so huge that you will continue to make an ass out of yourself, even if I warn you in advance that you are doing EXACTLY what I want you to do.That is, of course, one of my goals, to neutralize you. You are a bully and you tend to make other conservatives leave this forum. Me, I don’t care. Ask anyone who knows me well. Your schoolyard tactics wont work with me.You pretty much neuter yourself.Lets try to avoid the personal attacks ok?(Oh, miss JR would you get me another cup of coffee and check this one for spelling errors?)

And of course, if Sebelius said it… it must be true. Keep up the good objective reporting.

He “is willing to run even if the state office pays so much less than his current job because he thinks it is that important to bring professionalism and competence back to the top legal office in Kansas,” Sebelius said.

That, or maybe since Sebelius won’t be running again, he thinks it would be a good spot to run for governor from.

Politics sure can bring the cynical side of a person out.

Since when does pay matter in public service? What is Selebius giving up by being a governor. I’m sure after her term in the office she’ll find a consulating job that will pay her quite well.

But Morrison, if he wins, can make up that $40,000. I’m sure Democrats can pool in their money to and donate it to him to make it up.

Kline does most of the agitating against himself. The boy’s got nose problems.

To head off the expected denial:

I have been doing this for years, folks.I happen to be a conservative with a journalism degree. My timing was bad, nobody wanted someone like me when I graduated 24 years ago.So, I sold natural gas royalties and other investments and insurance instead. You should be worried, there are millions of us out here who feel the same way I do.Of course, that is why you Democrats keep losing elections! My spelling stinks and my grammar isnt the best, but in this crowd, I seem to hold my own!For the record, I get most of my news off of Drudge, who links to EVERY major commentator, on the left and right.Again, I would like to avoid the personal stuff, but some of you seem obsessively curious.Ben knows me well, I usually help to beat his friends when they run for anything, he can fill you in. Of course, he is a bit biased, due to the bruising he has taken over the years.Nothing personal Ben. Lighten up!

MAybe if we look at the “context”, we’ll get why this is not a different story. He might want to consider post-it notes to keep his stories straight.

Are journalists in Kansas just like most Sebelius appointees — they give money to Sebelius?Emerson Lynn, Jr., who wrote the cited article in the Iola Register, gave $250 to Sebelius’ campaign in 2002:

Date Contributor Dollars Recipient Contest10/3/2002 LYNN, EMERSON JR $250 SEBELIUS, KATHLEEN Govhttp://www.accesskansas.org/srv-campaignfinance/processItemizedForm.do

Shouldn’t REAL journalists disclose political contributions in any article for a candidate they support (or oppose)?

There are at least two newpaper publishers in Kansas that need to “‘fess up” to their recent political contributions, too.
