FYI: The Eagle editorial board’s endorsements for the Aug. 1 primary are on our Opinion Web page (on the right side, below the cartoon). There are also short video excerpts from our interviews with GOP gubernatorial candidates Jim Barnett, Robin Jennison and Ken Canfield.

Your endorsements are worth knowing? I think voters should investigate voting choices on their own.
If a monkey throws darts on at wall with stocks, gets a favorable return, maybe the that’s the way to pick elected officials.
Which one’s will screw Wichita out of things we need. Those elected officials voted for out of this area? Its amazing local politicans in Topeka are having a negative effect on this city.
Although I agree with the majority of your picks, I disagree with a couple of them.
Jennison is better than Barnet. And for the life of me, I cannot fathom any reasonable thought of why you think that Dee Stuart was the best choice. And the write up you had you guys gave her way too much credit for things she doesn’t deserve. I guess the other candidates sucked that bad that you had to pick Dee. I was sure that Michael Kinard would get the nod. Well at least the Democrat Party is going to support him.
I wish to thank to The Wichita Eagle for the endorsements for the Aug. 1 primary however I am not sure that the candidates appreciate being endorsed by the Eagle as I have known that some consider it the “kiss of death”.
I know that I look at the endorsements to see WHO NOT TO VOTE FOR!!!!
Im a little shaky about the Eagle endorsements, since they stumped for Bush back in 2004!!!!
I hope they regret it.
What is the Eagle’s track record, in picking successful candidates?
While I didn’t expect to ever be endorsed by the Wichita Eagle, I don’t feel bad because they endorsed, Bush (twice, tiahart, brownback et al. HOWEVER, of 2500 daily newspapers (give or take) only one fifth endorse candidates. USA Today’s Al Neuhirth called if a ” a dirty shame” in 2006. He claimed it was a throwback to the depression when unions and party machines “bought” newspapers and the endorsements.
I think that endorsements should be made on the content and the candidates platform, not the race, age, and incumbency status of the candidate. by logic, everything else is a disservice
Tooshea! Who are you?
