GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Canfield is catching some criticism for not voting in elections. But he told The Eagle editorial board that when he started his National Center for Fathering, he made a policy of not registering with a political party, so that his organization would not be viewed as partisan. But he said he voted in general elections as an unaffiliated voter. He did miss voting on the state’s gay marriage amendment, but he said that was because he had to make an unexpected trip out of state. But the bigger issue for voters is not Canfield’s voting history but his lack of governing history, having never held a public office.

And the sad thing is that he is considered a front runner.
I also see more of his political yard signs then any other candidate. Although I did notice that most are put in illegal spots (curb side part of the grass a.k.a. city property).
I was getting concerned that nobody was placing tv ads and yard signs, but I’m seeing them now. Not very much, especially that the election is a month away.
If Democrats could pick Sebeilus’s opponent, they would pick this guy.
What a maroon! He’s a parody of himself.
Joe
I TOO have noted many Canfield signs……ALL illegaly placed on right of way and some on telephone poles.
Lots of signs early = money.
Canfield is a political newbie.
A political newbie with lots of money is troubling to me. Gotta wonder where that money is coming from and why. Not that I would ever vote for Canfield or any Republican. No matter how bad Sebelius is.
Ah for a REAL Dem candidate for governor………instead of one that can win over the squishy middle and the redneck rubes just because she isnt a nut. But that’s Kansas.
Wow! Never vote Republican, even if the Democrat is really bad, such as Fred Phelp?
JR
U know where the money is coming, the RNC. Remember, Sebelius was the Democratic governor of the year… That’s a huge threat to the GOP. Not to mention that shes a women…
No experience? NO PROBLEM! Just look at our stellar state education chief. Just hire a few expensive assistents to do your job for you.
I just LOVE a watching the Repubs bash at each other in the primary! Just watch those Canfield signs disappear rapidly and be replaced by those of another candidate. I remember in the 2004 30th Senate race when David Clark ran against Susan Wagle. We would put Clark signs up along Rock Road and 30 minutes later they would be gone, replaced by Wagle signs. She has one vicious group of campaign workers. Expect more of the same in this race with her running mate, Barnett! It will be interesting to see who is funding each of the Republican campaigns after the July 24th campaign finance statements are turned in.
http://www.accesskansas.org/ethics/click on “Campaign Contributors”, “Camapign Finance” and look up the respective campaign. It proves quite interesting reading!
Let’s see Canfield wanted to make sure his group was not political so he did not register with a major party and now he wants to be considered a Republican for Governor? He could not vote on the marriage amendment because he could not find an advance ballot? He could not find and advance voting location before he left town? Come on Canfield at least tell the truth.
Was it truth you spoke last Friday when you spoke about Senator Wagles son? Have you even met Senator Wagles son? I doubt it. Why would you even drag him into your race? Are you running against her son? I know politics can be dirty but I have to say you have hit the low of the low Mr. Canfield. You do not have the knowledge or the ability to be the Governor of this state.
At least with Barnett and Jennison we know where they stand on the issues. They have a voting record for us to look at. Canfield doesn’t even vote. Either Barnett or Jennison would make a better Governor than Canfield or Sebilus.
Apophis. I know exactly what you’re saying.
sts – I missed that – what was his attack on Wagle’s son?
hee hee hee
I knew when I was reading that if I could get to the bottom of the posts, it would either be signed by ruby or sts.
hee hee hee. I love to see some GOP infighting….
How’s that working for you all in the governor’s race?
And wagle, doing something unethical? Like cheating? heheh. Say it ISNT so….. Not a good church lady like her?
KSFG – It was not something done illegal by Wagle. (Sorry to disappoint you.)
Ben – What Canfield did was say that He could not understand how Wagle could be running for office with a dieing son at home. First of all Wagle’s son is not dieing, he is in remission with his cancer. Second it is Susan that is running not her son.
It is the low of the low to bring a child into the discussion. If you do not like Susan or what she does than you should deal with her. You do not bring the children into the picture.
I don’t care what party you are with those actions are totally uncalled for.
Three strikes and your out, Mr. Canfield. Your three strikes are:
1) Not registered as a voter but wants Kansas voters to vote for him.
2) Only rarely votes … “do as I say, not as I do.”
3) Has never held public office but wants to start in the top elective office in Kansas.
This is a good example of a politician racing past the parade and trying to jump into the lead car. Forget it Canfield — don’t waste our time nor yours.
WTF are you talking about sts? I didnt even post this thread?
You are swinging at imaginary ghosts sts. Coming unhinged with all the bad news? heheheheheh
Oops, computer glitch. Sts’s comments appeared as the only one when I pulled up this thread.
Sorry, my bad.
Heheh. And I said susan “maybe” did something UNETHICAL sts, not illegal…
…yet!
To paraphrase, “the eyes, of kansas are upon you, all the live long day”.
