Why blame Louis Vuitton?

Upset about the way Katrina victims misused government-issued debit cards to buy Louis Vuitton bags and other inappropriate items, Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., seems to be misplacing blame. She has introduced an amendment to a homeland security appropriates bills that states in full: “None of the funds made available to the Federal Emergency Management Agency in this act may be used to purchase a Louis Vuitton handbag.”

This is why we need to vote out all the incumbents, too many of them don’t have a freakin’ clue.

It’s unfortunate that such an amendment would even be considered but we have to stop and think just like warnings on McDonald’s coffee ‘beverage is hot’ there is a reason for it.It seems to me that lower socio-economic classes are obsessed with name brands. Most have to wear $200 Nikes’, Roc-A-Wear, BabyPhat, have grillz on their teeth and carry Louis Vuitton bags. My theory on this is by looking like they have money people treat them better (well it’s either that or their extremely materialistic).I am in no way condoning the behavior (personally I don’t get it). I am trying to see things from their point of view – why the purchase of a pricey handbag instead of groceries or rent.

Are we going to go back to silly laws that do nothing but clog the enourmous legal code?

“Can’t walk on your hand on sidewalks, Can’t eat pie with ice cream, can’t have a hippo and a giraffe within 1000 feet of each other, and etc.”

Joe you forgot the “it is illegal to have sex with a virgin” (with no provision for the case that said virgin is your wife).

    Another case of stupidity.

General Accountability Office has found that FEMA was swindled for as much as 16% of what they sent out in aid. FEMA (inadvertantly?) paid for vacations, season football tickets and a divorce lawyer.

If not a Louis Vuitton, why not Kate Spade or something even more outrageously expensive?

If you give someone “free” money for the first time in their life, how can we expect them to know how to economize? All they see is an opportunity to buy something they couldn’t afford.

    Gertie,

Most of the NO negroes are criminals and/or welfare spongers who have been receiving “free money” for most of their lives! I suppose that the lack of ability to long term plan is just a product of White racism, right?
