Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., is famous for his tart tongue. Still, his startling dismissal of the vice president Sunday on CNN’s “Late Edition With Wolf Blitzer” reflected the degree of partisan hostility on Iraq. After a video clip in which Vice President Cheney called the Democrats’ proposal “packing it in, going home, persuading and convincing and validating the theory that the Americans don’t have the stomach for this fight,” Blitzer said, “All right. You want to respond to the vice president, Sen. Biden?”
To which Biden said, “No, I don’t want to respond to him. He’s at 20 percent in the polls. No one listens to him. He has no credibility. It’s ridiculous.” Biden went on to say that Iraqis are going to demand that U.S. troops leave, and wondered, “What’s the political solution here?”
Good question, but can one emerge from such an atmosphere of partisanship?
Meanwhile, Biden also made some news this week when he said that, though he would like to be president, he isn’t hung up on the trappings of the office. “I would rather go home to Delaware and make love to my wife,” he said. Jay Leno later joked that Bill Clinton said the same thing — that he would rather be home making love to Biden’s wife.

The sixties repeated.Make love, not war.
We need more people like Biden to stand up and say NO. I’m not un-American, in fact I’m damned American, protesting peacefully in the finest American tradition.
Where’s the boat that we throw the tea off of?
Power hungry and hardly known.
Good luck!
“I would rather go home to Delaware and make love to my wife,” he said.”"
….but was he plagiarizing again?
I heard he said, “I would rather go home to Delaware and make love to my wife while my children are asleep”.
His oldest child is 25 years old. Still living at home?
We are becoming Balkanized. Red states vs Blue states. Conservative Christians vs Liberal Atheists. Free Market Capitalists vs Socialists. Pro Life vs Pro Abortion. Herosexual Marriage vs Gay Marriage. American Citizens vs Illegal Aliens. Dogs vs Cats. etc.
Unless we find some way to coexist we are on the path to another civil war.
Bring it on.
“Unless we find some way to coexist we are on the path to another civil war.”
You left out the big one…..’Great taste….Less filling.’
Civil war? Nah.
Revolution!
How about a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences?
Where could we go to get that? The UN? The Hauge?
I like Joe Biden alot!!
Intelligent, has an Iraq plan that should be highly considered, knows theres a crisis in America right now, articulate, knows the alphabet, can count to 10, Knows the difference between a verb and a noun!! Some of the things you know WHO isnt.
Why is it the most intelligent, open minded, and competent individuals are on the Democratic side of the table?
Race war first, then we will have a greatly needed Second Revolution!
viva La Raza Blanco!!Viva La Revolucion Blanco!!!
GaryC,I like Joe also, but , my God, to listen to his speeches is like getting teeth pulled with no pain killers. If he could have, like, the opposite of a signer to talk for him, he might go over better LOL
LRB! I’m glad you are joining us on other threads!
The matter of civil war has come up here before. So far this truism holds: Those who say pooh pooh to a possible civil war are always of the far right bent. They have the most to lose! So far none of them has weighed in here.Gary I like you more all the time. And welcome Cara.
I like Joe Biden. Yes he is strident. Yes he is alternately bombastic/shrill. But that is just exactly what is needed at this time from “the left”; smashmouth in your face rhetoric. Think about it! In talk radio this sort of street fighting has been going on for years and almost exclusively from the right. It is also the right that deems itself the judge of who and who is not patriotic. Hey why prove who is better for America when you can just keep shouting that the other side HATES America? We need more like Biden.
Oh and Joe WIlliams? “power hungry and hardly known”? You DO mean Dick Cheney circa early 70’s don’t you?
He should have simple responded “Why listen to more LIES from DickdaDumbo”
