An interesting note on the Presbyterian Church:
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The divine Trinity _ “Father, Son and Holy Spirit” _ could also be known as “Mother, Child and Womb” or “Rock, Redeemer, Friend” at some Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) services under an action Monday by the church’s national assembly.
Delegates to the meeting voted to “receive” a policy paper on gender-inclusive language for the Trinity, a step short of approving it. That means church officials can propose experimental liturgies with alternative phrasings for the Trinity, but congregations won’t be required to use them.(snip)A panel that worked on the issue since 2000 said the classical language for the Trinity should still be used, but added that Presbyterians also should seek “fresh ways to speak of the mystery of the triune God” to “expand the church’s vocabulary of praise and wonder.”
One reason is that language limited to the Father and Son “has been used to support the idea that God is male and that men are superior to women,” the panel said.

On Tuesday, the assembly will vote on a proposal to give local congregations and regional “presbyteries” some leeway on ordaining clergy and lay officers living in gay relationships.
(Naturally, there’s dissent from those who oppose these new steps.)
It is a damned shame that science has to tale a back seat to fiath based dogma of “diversity”, and “racial equality”.

CHICAGO—Last September, Bruce Lahn, a professor of human genetics at the University of Chicago, stood before a packed lecture hall and reported the results of a new DNA analysis: He had found signs of recent evolution in the brains of some people, but not of others.
It was a triumphant moment for the young scientist. He was up for tenure and his research was being featured in back-to-back articles in the country’s most prestigious science journal. Yet today, Dr. Lahn says he is moving away from the research. “It’s getting too controversial,” he says.
Dr. Lahn had touched a raw nerve in science: race and intelligence.
What Dr. Lahn told his audience was that genetic changes over the past several thousand years might be linked to brain size and intelligence. He flashed maps that showed the changes had taken hold and spread widely in Europe, Asia and the Americas, but weren’t common in sub-Saharan Africa.
Web sites and magazines promoting white “racialism” quickly seized on Dr. Lahn’s suggestive scientific snapshot. One magazine that blames black and Hispanic people for social ills hailed his discovery as “the moment the antiracists and egalitarians have dreaded.”

Dr. Lahn says he once tried testing himself for which version of the brain genes he has. The experiment’s outcome was blurry “but it wasn’t looking good,” he says. New documents obtained by a conservative watchdog group suggest that the US Army Corp of Engineers may have publicly lied regarding the involvement of the Vice President’s office in awarding a 2003 multi-billion dollar, no-bid contract to Kellogg Brown and Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton, RAW STORY has learned.
RAW STORY has obtained a copy of the emails, which were acquired by the government watchdog group Judicial Watch under the Freedom of Information Act.
The newly released emails show the Army Corps attempting to deflect attention from Cheney’s office by distributing talking points that would mask Cheney’s purported role. The Corps could not immediately be reached for comment.
Among the 100 pages of newly-obtained documents is an 2003 email in which Army Corps official Carol Sanders writes, “Mr. Robert Andersen, Chief Counsel, USACE, participated in a 60 Minutes interview today in New York regarding the sole source award of the oil response contract to Kellogg, Brown and Root…[Andersen] was able to make many of the points we had planned.”

This is the underlying huge conflict of interest that I have a huge problem with.
I am of full belief that this war was manipulated and planned well before the 9/11 attacks. I also believe that Bush and Cheney knew that thier friends and family could profit from the war.
It disguts me and has made me question the morality and ethics of this great nation.

But just before he reached the leftist sainthood, a committee from the University of Colorado recommended that he be fired for serious and repeated research misconductincluding four counts of falsifying information, two counts of fabricating information, two counts of plagiarizing the works of others, improperly reporting the results of studies, and failing to “comply with established standards regarding author names on publications.” In addition, the committee found him “disrespectful of Indian oral traditions.”
I wonder what the left is going to spin in trying to protect him. Time to circle the wagons.

Thanks to Damoon and Writerdog – I knew what the first post was about. I was too angry to appropriately post without personal attact and very very very rude language towards the poster. I wanted a chance to calm down and issue a rebuttal in a tactful manner instead of inflamatory remarks. Damoon and Writerdog have eloquently put into words my feelings that I couldn’t at the time (I’m still too angry). Thank you.

Ward Churchill is considered a “darling of the left” only by right-wing propagandists, and those stupid enough to believe them. He was an obscure academic nutcase who would still be obscure if the right-wing noise machine hadn’t picked up on him and pumped him up.
On the other hand, longtime klansman David Duke served for years in the Lousiana legislature, ran for governor, and won the Republican primary. His opponent was a man with serious legal difficulties, so he seriously could have been Governor!
