more of that famous blow civility? Pot meet kettle.
“Mom, TB is being mean to me. Waaaaaaaaaa”
ANYONE ELSE WITH BLOWJOB WOULD GET A BRAIN?
I’d like to actually get to a subject.I object to Cox and Spirit being considered for naming rights for the arena. The arena was–and still is–a divisive issue. The last thing we need is a sponsor that reminds us of this divisveness.Cox has prevented the creation of nearly 300 jobs in this community..and if you add in indirect creation, they’ve actually prevented more jobs than they have created.Second, they have taken the city’s only Spanish language channel and relegated it to second class status.Third, if you look at remarks made by Cox CEO Jim Robbins at the 2005 NCTA convention, (Reuters, 4/25/05), plus those made by Cox’s chief lobbyist in Kansas, Mrs. Jennison, during House committee testimony on the cable competition bill, you have to wonder if Cox will be around for the entire term of the sponsorship. Then what?Spirit should not be considered for the bad taste it has left in a lot of people’s mouths after the way layoffs were handled in the aftermath of the buyout from Boeing.Intrust and Cessna are good ideas, to which I would add AT&T and possibly Westar.
Damn I wish I could still see that gun thread. Looks like a war zone by the recent posts.
I’m sorta hoping Joe Blow’s bridge falls on him.
I like the idea of SWB/ATT – especially since they are likely to be making a major push into the local markets for internet, cable, etc.
The U-vers Arena just kinda rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?
“U-vers”?
Ok the last time I posted I got a lot of pot shots taken at me, but a member of the Wichita Eagle call me,I told him my idea for stopping or hindering Phelps he said I was clever but it has problems, but at least I’m trying to come up with a solution and not one involving more laws like national cemeteries law what joke that is,so heres the plan, now we’ll see who the con won’t we.
The Phelps plan.Thursday, June 01, 2006 idea predates date
This is away to hinder,if not stop Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church.
(1.) You need gather pictures of all the members of the Church,in profile and frontal, children included. This can be done in a peacefull manor by photographing them at their protests this way you couldn’t seen as a stalker.
(2.) Create a web site featuring all the pictures, names aren’t needed just the pictures identifying them as members of the above mentioned church, and announce the existance of said web site.
(3.)The thought is a news paper learns of a upcoming protest in the area, goes to the site down loads the images and prints an insert to the paper so that the community recognises them and can then do step 4
(4.) All businesses that can need to put up clearsigns that state:WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE.
This would then cut his supply chain with no gas, food or lodging how far could he go? Even if he flies into the area he won’t be able to move with ease.Part of their power is their anonymity, they can move without being noticed this plan removes this.
To all the nay sayer again I say whos the con now ???
Mr Turner, that is an awesome idea! No government involvement, no idiotic laws, just supply and demand. Punished by the market. Genius. Pure genius!
Quote of the Day:
“Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful. This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government.”Henry Kissinger, Speaking at Evian, France, May 21, 1992. Bilderberg meeting.
Viva La Raza Blanco!!!
Interesting idea Mr T. Taking it a step further – what would happen if all the businesses in Topeka did the same thing on a daily basis?
Ben,Getting a business to turn down money isn’t easy, but it might be fun to try!
Mr T.
(that is still funny) sorry
Ok so you have this plan.
It is mildly interesting.
You must remember though that several of that bunch of nuts are attorneys. I think they could find wiggle room for a suit in there somewhere…..just what they want to gather more funds.Logistically also the plan is challenging. Buisinesses and such are not likely to make the efforts on the basis of less than a hundred people.
The website aspect of the plan is PARTICULARLY interesting. I do not know if there is wiggle room for a suit there.
In related news, the Father of a soldier whose funeral the Phelps picketed is suing THEM.
Maybe the answer is suing these people on a vast scale. Keep throwing stuff at them til something sticks.
JR,That’s Phelps tactic (he was never much of a lawyer), so maybe what’s good for the goose…..
Maybe we should just ignore their protests, as difficult as that may be.
Ya know what I wanna know?Where do they get the money for all their travel, accomodations and such? Is it possible they have contributors?
hmmm …
I wonder if they report all of their income …
Westar? LOLOLOLOL They’ve done everything they could get away with to screw customers. Do you really want a Texas-based company (with ties to DeLay) to choose the name for OUR arena?
AT&T? You’ve got to be kidding. I wouldn’t hook up with AT&T if they paid me. SBT’s internet services sucked, so combining didn’t give them any points. Let them bring cable and internet. They won’t get my money for it, nor for phone.
Cessna I can agree with.
But why pick businesses? Are they paying anything other than regular taxes to make the arena possible?
Why don’t they just call it the Wichita Arena? Or something that has to do with the area/city/county/whatever? Makes more sense that allowing corps to do it.
Top 11 Things That Anti-War Protesters Would Have Said At the Normandy Invasion on D-Day (Had There Been Anti-War Protesters At Normandy)
11. No blood for French Wine!
10. It’s been two and a half years since Pearl Harbor and they still haven’t brought Admiral Nagumo to justice
9. In 62 years, the date will be 6/6/6. A coincidence? I think not.
8. All this death and destruction is because the neo-cons are in the pocket of Israel
7. The soldiers are still on the beach, this invasion is a quagmire
6. Sure the holocaust is evil, but so was slavery
5. We are attacked by Japan and then attack France? Roosevelt is worse than the Kaiser!
4. Why bring democracy to Europe by force and not to Korea or Vietnam? I blame racism
3. This war doesn’t attack the root causes of Nazism
2. I support the troops, but invading Germany does not guarantee that in 56 years we won’t have a President who’s worse than Hitler
1. I don’t see Roosevelt or Churchill storming the beaches — they’re Chicken Hawks
Interesting idea, Turner. Too bad it won’t work.
First, many gas stations are self serv, including pay at the pump. The people inside don’t see the customers. Second, it would require a massive ad campaign, not just a website, to educate every possible shop owner/clerk to not serve these people. Third, there are clerks that get caught selling beer to obvious minors, what are the chances of them working from a photograph?
Interesting idea, nice original thought, but I don’t think it is worth paying anything for it.
JR..they get some of their money from previous lawsuits. They have been fairly successful at provoking people into physical attacks, and then they sue. Disgusting tactic, but it seems to have worked in the past.
I still wish they would just do the world a favor and have a big swig of “Jim Jones Kool-Aid”
Wow what a clever widdle cut and paste blow Joe! Get that at little green footballs did you?
Okay, RD, so you’ll be the last on your block to have horse-and-buggy technology when AT&T U-Verse comes to town. Somebody has to be a stick in the mud.I agree, the arena shouldn’t be named for anything (Okay, I’d go for a Fark.com arena). But Dave Unruh and his secret committee doesn’t give a flying donut what real people think, so it’s going to be named for some corporation. I just don’t want it to be Cox or Spirit.
Oh I know that is the source for some of their revenue raptor. That is why they are so deliberately outrageous. Can they be getting by on just that though? Their activities cost a lot of money.
Maybe this could be a project at large for the blog. Figuring these people out and how to deal with them. I think it is unanimous the feeling about them here.
Why don’t you ask Fred Monday night? He’ll be on Nabil Seyam’s show Monday night on KCTU.
JR, if I want your opinion I’ll step down into the gutter and ask for it.
JR..
I have a video that was taken undercover in their “church” that I haven’t had reason to watch.. but maybe now I will. Maybe there is a clue on it?
Blow Joe
You’ll get my opinion whether you ask for it or not.:) I’ll shout it at you down under your bridge. Don’t like it? Good!
I’d say that would be at the very least interesting raptor. I was gonna ask where you got that but given their litigous nature you’d probably best not say. If it is revealing you probably best be careful what you report too.
Well, so much for civility. You sure have gotten feisty as of late, JR.
Just when a tiny bit of decorum had returned, that blasted coconut true blue came and got everyone all riled up.
V.L.R.B!!!
Turner? You wanted people to pay money for that idea? That’s just too tacky to even be a good con.Oh, and then you started screaming LIBEL, LIBEL, I’ll sue you!!!!Now all of a sudden you’re a great guy who just wants to isolate one asshole. What happened? Have a change of heart? I hope so.And I say ‘Good Day’ to you sir.
Ahhhh I missed that post Mr. C I will have to try and see that show.
Ian? Uncivil? You mean ME?
(feigning innocence)
If you mean uncivil to Phelps and gang you better believe it. I am having a very friendly discussion with raptor about it.
Oh but I bet you mean I am being uncivil to Mr. Blow.
Mama told me I didn’t have to use my manners with trolls.
There must be one helluva war going on on that guns thread. It got to big for me to see last night with webtv.
I should be there being uncivil.
JR,the purple chicken tried to cross the road, but the hen house was full, so he had to come back home.
I’m on it XXX. Tell the purple chicken mea culpa and try try again.
I just want to say “Hi”.
:)
Joe Blow–
Thank God we are not treated to what we deserve, for then who could escape whipping? “Use them after your own honour and dignity: the less they deserve, the more merit is in your bounty.”
Mr. T,Your idea would have merit in a closed society. Self service gas stations, self service grocery stores, put up a tent in a public park kinda shoot that down, though.
Suppose your idea were to take hold, then what? Lets see, this being Kansas, people who profess to believe in evolution? Unmarried couples? Heaven forbid, same sex couples? Smokers? Jews? Mexicans? Ad infinitum.
What it boils down to is a stupid idea.
JoeB–
FDR was a liberal, right? The three-term president who whipped the Nazis and ordered the Normandy Invasion?
He was the epitome of a liberal.
Hey, check that Dow Jones Industrial Average! Down in the sewer again.
When will investors figure out that the biggest drag on their portfolio is the anchor sitting in the Oval Office?
JR..Something wrong with the format, my dvd player said it could not play this type of dvd. Will see if the source has another one…will keep you posted.
Raptor, Have you tried playing it on a computer DVD?
Jr, That damn chicken is at it again.
Raptor, Have you tried playing it on a computer DVD?
Jr, That damn chicken is at it again.
“Okay, RD, so you’ll be the last on your block to have horse-and-buggy technology when AT&T U-Verse comes to town.”
Mr. C,
Considering the price of gas these days, horse-and-buggy sounds pretty good.
I wouldn’t worry about my stick in the mud. If I need it, I’ll get it. Someone else will come out to with something “bigger and better” than U-Verse, and they’ll all be making money hand-over-fist because everybody will have to have the latest, no matter what.
But thanks for the concern. I do very well with what I have.
OTOH, considering my block, I doubt I’ll be the last to have anything. ;)
Thanks for the suggestion, X, it played. It is a wmv. file..(duh, I should have thought of that).
Anyway…no word on financing, other than 11 of his 13 children are attorneys. 9 of his 13 children are members of his cult, as are 54 grandchildren.
The actual “church” is a big room in a basement, where fred holds forth for hour long sermons, screeching hatred at the top of his lungs. It didn’t look like more than 30 people in attendance (hidden camera didn’t pan the room well)
They have a huge “God Hates America.com” banner on the front of their building. Couldn’t see inside their ‘compound’ too well, it was dark when it was filmed. But, members are pretty much kept there–ala Karesh? Or Jim Jones?
Just another cult…getting more attention than he ever dreamed possible…
If you are interested, this inside look at the cult church was put together by a British television station. You can see the 12 minute video by going to:
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,15410-1200311,00.html
The friend that gave it to me just told me it had hidden camera shots inside the Phelps church..here is more info if you are interested.

Time to start buying and when we have some sanity returned to the country it’ll be selling time. I just made the switch to some higher risk mutual funds – figuring that Bush’s time of good markets would be ending soon.
It’s not that Bush is incompetent, it’s just that he has had such bad luck: 9-ll, Katrina, etc. The preceding has been the latest I am hearing from Bush apologists.
Rapt,I’ve had an eye on Phelps for quite a few years now, and I’ll take issue with one statement on that video- Phelps was never a civil-rights attorney; he was a shyster lawyer who was finally disbarred after numerous infractions. He has had a web site where he refers to anybody or any business he perceives as having wronged him as a fag. You have to understand that here is a man so morally impoverished that he only has one cuss word to his name!
I did a little search on this subject, to see just what it was about and how important it may be.

President’s Statement on Signing of H.R. 2863, the “Department of Defense, Emergency Supplemental Appropriations to Address Hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, and Pandemic Influenza Act, 2006″
The Supreme Court of the United States has stated that the President’s authority to classify and control access to information bearing on the national security flows from the Constitution and does not depend upon a legislative grant of authority. Although the advance notice contemplated by sections 8007, 8011, and 8093 can be provided in most situations as a matter of comity, situations may arise, especially in wartime, in which the President must act promptly under his constitutional grants of executive power and authority as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces while protecting certain extraordinarily sensitive national security information. The executive branch shall construe these sections in a manner consistent with the constitutional authority of the President.
(This statement is used a lot to justify everything the President see fit: )the executive branch shall construe the section in a manner consistent with the President’s constitutional authority as Commander in Chief.
The executive branch shall construe section 8104, relating to integration of foreign intelligence information, in a manner consistent with the President’s constitutional authority as Commander in Chief, including for the conduct of intelligence operations, and to supervise the unitary executive branch. Also, the executive branch shall construe sections 8106 and 8119 of the Act, which purport to prohibit the President from altering command and control relationships within the Armed Forces, as advisory, as any other construction would be inconsistent with the constitutional grant to the President of the authority of Commander in Chief.
The executive branch shall construe Title X in Division A of the Act, relating to detainees, in a manner consistent with the constitutional authority of the President to supervise the unitary executive branch and as Commander in Chief and consistent with the constitutional limitations on the judicial power, which will assist in achieving the shared objective of the Congress and the President, evidenced in Title X, of protecting the American people from further terrorist attacks. Further, in light of the principles enunciated by the Supreme Court of the United States in 2001 in Alexander v. Sandoval, and noting that the text and structure of Title X do not create a private right of action to enforce Title X, the executive branch shall construe Title X not to create a private right of action. Finally, given the decision of the Congress reflected in subsections 1005(e) and 1005(h) that the amendments made to section 2241 of title 28, United States Code, shall apply to past, present, and future actions, including applications for writs of habeas corpus, described in that section, and noting that section 1005 does not confer any constitutional right upon an alien detained abroad as an enemy combatant, the executive branch shall construe section 1005 to preclude the Federal courts from exercising subject matter jurisdiction over any existing or future action, including applications for writs of habeas corpus, described in section 1005.
Language in Division B of the Act, under the heading “Office of Justice Programs, State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance,” purports to require the Attorney General to consult congressional committees prior to allocating appropriations for expenditure to execute the law. Because the President’s constitutional authority to supervise the unitary executive branch and take care that the laws be faithfully executed cannot be made by law subject to a requirement to consult with congressional committees or to involve them in executive decision-making, the executive branch shall construe the provision to require only notification. At the same time, the Attorney General shall, as a matter of comity between the executive and legislative branches, seek and consider the views of appropriate committees in this matter as the Attorney General deems appropriate.********these are just some exerts from the longer signing statement, I have put the link at the beginning

President’s Statement on H.R. 199, the “USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005″
Today, I have signed into law H.R. 3199, the “USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005,” and then S. 2271, the “USA PATRIOT Act Additional Reauthorizing Amendments Act of 2006.” The bills will help us continue to fight terrorism effectively and to combat the use of the illegal drug methamphetamine that is ruining too many lives. The executive branch shall construe the provisions of H.R. 3199 that call for furnishing information to entities outside the executive branch, such as sections 106A and 119, in a manner consistent with the President’s constitutional authority to supervise the unitary executive branch and to withhold information the disclosure of which could impair foreign relations, national security, the deliberative processes of the Executive, or the performance of the Executive’s constitutional duties. The executive branch shall construe section 756(e)(2) of H.R. 3199, which calls for an executive branch official to submit to the Congress recommendations for legislative action, in a manner consistent with the President’s constitutional authority to supervise the unitary executive branch and to recommend for the consideration of the Congress such measures as he judges necessary and expedient.GEORGE W. BUSHTHE WHITE HOUSE,March 9, 2006

Here is a link to a review of whether Bush’s use of signing statements is with in the law and how he is using them.
Sorry late getting back to ya Raptor. Glad XXX helped you see your video. Thanks the heads up. Kinda what I would have expected.
Damn that guns thread is looking like THE battle of all time. I’ll at least get to read it later.
Man. that’s one HUGE chicken!
R’s win CA-50, Dems blow another election.Yawn.
I was just gonna bring that up blow….
The dem lost, by a narrow margin, in a district that is heavily registered republican, and after, wait for it….
The national republicans, the RNC, outspent the dem in the race by $4.5 million to $2 million.
I guess THAT wouldnt have anything to do with it. The fact that she came THAT close to winning is lost here, apparantly.
If I were you, I’d be very afraid, just like the RNC wants you to be.
I guess the Democrat running in that race couldn’t get enough illegal immigrants to vote for her.
I was just going to say…
That the dems almost be the repub in CA-50 despite the fact that they were outspent two to one.
Ann Coulter TRASHED people who lost their husbands in the 9/11 attack.
The violence in iraq escalates while the senate panders to their base about gay marriage…
And the WE puts up these pussy threads today?
Must be really slow there. I cant believe you dont think coulter’s comments are worth a thread.
More fair and balanced blogging I guess.
“I guess the Democrat running in that race couldn’t get enough illegal immigrants to vote for her.”
Gosh, I could reply to that, but it would make me an uncivilized lib.
I’ll leave the response to those wise ones who empower the joes.
Francine Busby should have changed her last name like Loretta Brixey did when she changed it to Sanchez.
;)
KFG, didn’t she get busted for telling illegal immigrants that they don’t need papers for voting or to help a campaign?
Or is that considered pre-election surprise and was spoken out of context?
ok y’all I’m out one day w/ a killer headache and the blog goes nuts. What are y’all doing?!?!Do I need to step in and separate everyone and send y’all to your rooms?:)
Interesting that over 5% voted for “none of the above” in that race and that nobody got 50%
Julie, please do. And if you need any help (some of these guys are stubborn), I’ll stop shaking my head long enough to give you some.
This blog has gotten totally out of control.
Oh yea, but it is a clear republican victory, Ben. The spin machine is in full power.
I dont know why I bother with either of the joes but for the record, the republicans were spinning the rumor that NO ONE could vote without their papers (?) with them.
That is what prompted the “you dont need papers” to vote.
Of course, you need to be a REGISTERED voter with a photo ID, just like in every election. And presumably, the citizenship papers would have been presented at registration. No papers, no registration.
At least that is how it was when dems ran the state. Now that the r’s are in charge there, who knows WHO is being registered.
Only ID is required at polls, and maybe proof of registration, given how CA is now controlled by the republicans, and we know how the republicans like to rig voter registration and restrict participation.
If you are told at the polls that you are not on the list of registered voters, it would be a good idea to carry registration with you. In EVERY state.
So yeah, bad democrat, she set the record straight, told the truth, and gave the republicans fodder for the spin machine and some great headlines.
And she still almost won after the RNC spent DOUBLE the amount on the race.
I hope the winner proves he is best congressman money can buy.
DARN THEIR HIDES! ‚Äì We’ve always known that the Marks’ recycling companies weren’t shooting straight with us. With can prices varying from 32 ‚Äì 70 cents a pound over the past few years, I always knew that something wasn’t on the up-and-up when I would always get paid rounded to the dollar. And I knew that they weren’t rounding up. I just figured that was a part of dealing with Gypsies and any complaints that I would have voiced about it would have fallen on deaf ears (theirs or the establishment’s).
But maybe it doesn’t have to be that way after all.
I would hope that the Marks family will take heed of this recent situation and start treating people fairly. At the very least, it might redeem their family name. At the very worst, it might keep them out of jail again ;)
In the meantime, I’m going to attempt to find an honest recycler. Any good tips?
Posting here for the hell of it.
Gotta go. Try not to kill each in my absence, people! :)
Is Eagle meetup thing still on?
Things are getting too serious here gotta lighten the mood…

Quick definitions (con)
noun: a swindle in which you cheat at gambling or persuade a person to buy worthless property
verb: deprive of by deceit
So you say its worthless,ok then whats your idea then. Oh by the way two members of the Wichita Eagle said it was clever. Yes it has holes you could drive a truck through but at least I’m trying to think of something that don’t require the state to write a law.
Speaking of the Phelpsies – anybody know how much time Margie takes off from her job? Isn’t absenteeism an issue?
HYPOCRISY!!
Any Hannity fans here? Well then you no should know that Mr. Hannity was confronted live on his radio show by a man who has worked at Hannity’s house and can confirm that the famed right wing shill employs illegal aliens! This despit the fact that Hannity regularly talks about addressing illegal immigration!
Oy Vay, what’s this; a black man charged with a hate crime? Could there actually be a prosecutor who is not a gutless, politically correct, ass kissing functionary?

An Amityville man angered over what he said were too many white people at Massapequa’s Sunrise Mall reacted by hurling a concrete slab at a woman’s minivan, Nassau police said yesterday.
Carl Graves, 20, who is black, was arrested Monday after, police said, he threw the approximately 6-inch slab and struck the windshield of the minivan carrying Kim McCandless, 34, of West Islip and four children — all of whom are white. No one was injured in the random attack, which investigators called a hate crime.http://www.newsday.com/news/local/longisland/ny-liconc0607,0,6044433.story?coll=ny-election-storiesViva La Raza Blanco!!!
HEY WE EDITORS!!!HOW ABOUT A THREAD ABOUT WHAT ANN COULTER SAID ABOUT THE 9/11 WIDOWS?
XXX! Do we really need that? Ann Coulter is a whacko has been and is one step away from being a very radical fundlementalist. It’s like giving that leftist Fred Phelps and his church all the attention. Why? It’s not worth it.
Joe, it seems to be getting a lot of play on one of the other threads. The woman is Evil. Let’s discuss it.
Conclusive proof McCain is a pacwhore:http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=10140
I posted this about Coulter on the other thread:http://www.petitiononline.com/asfmac/petition.html
I join the call for a Coulter thread.
Me too! Fascist cunts deserve equal time!
(Any predictions as to how long the editors will allow THAT to stay up?)
Awwww, CF, why did you have to go and use my very, very least favorite word.
Men. ::sigh::
Julie, fantastic list!
I’d add one:56: You know that everyone knows that blinkers are against the law.
RD,
Oh, um…hi!
Uhhh, ummm, well, I, uhhh, I thought the editors would have yanked my comment by now.
Still, there is something fitting in the fact that your least favorite word so closely describes my least favorite person.
CF,
That is a vile word and with people like feinstein, boxer, hillary, pelosi and janet reno on your side you might have it throw right back at you.
V.L.R.B!!!
On another, and likely to be soon the most posted thread in the history of this blog, a war has raged among us on the left over just how far we go in our posts.
This is illustrative. There has never been such a concern from the right as to civility.
There are divisions and hurt feelings among those on the left debating that thread. No doubt those on the right salivate over this. Divide and conquer.
Will Rogers said “I am not a member of an organized political party. I’m a democrat.”
Or something like that.
The right should not mistake our arguements and disageements on that thread as a sign of weakness. The “wounds” are already healing. Rather they might be wary that we police our own. We infight and doing so make each other stronger.
JR,
Good luck with that “leftwing” unity! After CF opens the borders wide for wetbacks and provides them with affirmative action and everything else under the sun and after you take all of XXX’s guns and Confederate flags away then come back and tell me how that goes. :)
V.L.R.B!!
A couple of things to add to this thread since the Eagle can’t seem to stomach posting a thread about the sick garbage both Rush Overdose and Ann Underwear are spewing about the wives of the 9/11 victims and the murder of civilians in Iraq by marines:
9/11 Widows, New York Papers, Respond to Coulter’s ‘Slander’
NEW YORK Syndicated columnist and author Ann Coulter appeared on the Today show on Tuesday, promoting a new book. Host Matt Lauer asked her to explain certain remarks in the book aimed at activist 9/11 widows, including her charge that they were nothing but “self obsessed” and celebrity-seeking “broads” who are “enjoying” their husbands’ deaths “so much.”
After she defended these statements, he closed by saying, “always fun to have you here.”
Elsewhere in the book, Coulter refers to the widows as “witches” and asks, “how do we know their husbands weren’t planning to divorce these harpies”?
In response, a group of five 9/11 widows, who may have been the prime targets of Coulter’s remarks, issued a statement denouncing Coulter’s views. The New York Daily News on Wednesday featured a smiling Coulter and this headline on its front page: COULTER THE CRUEL. One story inside was topped with “Massive Chip on Her Coulter ” and another called her a “a model of meanness.”
The Star-Ledger in Newark, meanwhile, carried a story today with the headline “For 9/11 widows, book adds insult to injury.” It featured interviews with some of the widows. The New York Post headlined a story: “RIGHTY WRITER COULTER HURLS NASTY GIBES AT 9/11 GALS.”
The Post interviewed one of the widows, Mindy Kleinberg of East Brunswick, N.J. — part of a group Coulter dubbed “The Witches of East Brunswick.” Kleinberg said, “We are trying to make sure that nobody else walks in our footsteps. And if she [Coulter] thinks that’s wrong, so be it.” Newsday (Melville, N.Y.) carried an Associated Press story.
Universal syndicates Coulter’s column. A spokesman there told E&P it had no response to the latest firestorm.
The five widows’ statement is reprinted below (it first appeared at crooksandliars.com).

We did not choose to become widowed on September 11, 2001. The attack, which tore our families apart and destroyed our former lives, caused us to ask some serious questions regarding the systems that our country has in place to protect its citizens.
Through our constant research, we came to learn how the protocols were supposed to have worked. Thus, we asked for an independent commission to investigate the loopholes which obviously existed and allowed us to be so utterly vulnerable to terrorists. Our only motivation ever was to make our Nation safer. Could we learn from this tragedy so that it would not be repeated?
We are forced to respond to Ms. Coulter’s accusations to set the record straight because we have been slandered.
Contrary to Ms. Coulter’s statements, there was no joy in watching men that we loved burn alive. There was no happiness in telling our children that their fathers were never coming home again. We adored these men and miss them every day.
It is in their honor and memory, that we will once again refocus the Nation’s attention to the real issues at hand: our lack of security, leadership and progress in the five years since 9/11.
We are continuously reminded that we are still a nation at risk. Therefore, the following is a partial list of areas still desperately in need of attention and public outcry. We should continuously be holding the feet of our elected officials to the fire to fix these shortcomings.
1. Homeland Security Funding based on risk. Inattention to this area causes police officers, firefighters and other emergency/first responder personnel to be ill equipped in emergencies. Fixing this will save lives on the day of the next attack.
2. Intelligence Community Oversight. Without proper oversight, there exists no one joint, bicameral intelligence panel with power to both authorize and appropriate funding for intelligence activities. Without such funding we are unable to capitalize on all intelligence community resources and abilities to thwart potential terrorist attacks. Fixing this will save lives on the day of the next attack.
3. Transportation Security. There has been no concerted effort to harden mass transportation security. Our planes, buses, subways, and railways remain under-protected and highly vulnerable. These are all identifiable soft targets of potential terrorist attack. The terror attacks in Spain and London attest to this fact. Fixing our transportation systems may save lives on the day of the next attack.
4. Information Sharing among Intelligence Agencies. Information sharing among intelligence agencies has not improved since 9/11. The attacks on 9/11 could have been prevented had information been shared among intelligence agencies. On the day of the next attack, more lives may be saved if our intelligence agencies work together.
5. Loose Nukes. A concerted effort has not been made to secure the thousands of loose nukes scattered around the world – particularly in the former Soviet Union. Securing these loose nukes could make it less likely for a terrorist group to use this method in an attack, thereby saving lives.
6. Security at Chemical Plants, Nuclear Plants, Ports. We must, as a nation, secure these known and identifiable soft targets of Terrorism. Doing so will save many lives.
7. Border Security. We continue to have porous borders and INS and Customs systems in shambles. We need a concerted effort to integrate our border security into the larger national security apparatus.
8. Civil Liberties Oversight Board. Given the President’s NSA Surveillance Program and the re-instatement of the Patriot Act, this Nation is in dire need of a Civil Liberties Oversight Board to insure that a proper balance is found between national security versus the protection of our constitutional rights.

That is about as classy a come back as you will find. Kinda makes Ann Moron sound as stupid as she is.
Horst Wessel,
Well, this ‘too stupid’ guy on the Left spots three grammatical and spelling errors in your two-line post. Numb-nuts. You’re the Sergeant Schulz of the WeBlog.
Re: Coulter
*She criticized them for making a campaign advertisement for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry in 2004, and added: “By the way, how do we know their husbands weren’t planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they’d better hurry up and appear in Playboy.”*
Has Ann the Man taken a look in the mirror lately? She looks like a poster girl for the last stages of anorexia.
CF, I’m sure Horst hated spelling class, but is there anything he doesn’t hate? Himself included…
She’ll probably sell more books because of this.
I LOVE George Carlin!!!
YES, I’M A BAD AMERICANby : George Carlin
I Am Your Worst Nightmare. I am a BAD American. I am George Carlin.
I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid level governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican!
I’m in touch with my feelings and I like it that way!
I think owning a gun doesn’t make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.
I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything.
I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, try to do it in English.
I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to.
My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and whoever canceled Jerry Springer.
I don’t hate the rich. I don’t pity the poor.
I know wrestling is fake and I don’t waste my time arguing about it.
I’ve never owned a slave, or was a slave, I didn’t wander forty years In the desert after getting chased out of Egypt. I haven’t burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already.
I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson practices, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one?
I think cops have the right to pull you over if you’re breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.
And, no, I don’t mind having my face shown on my drivers license. I think it’s good….. and I’m proud that “God” is written on my money. I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don’t want you ! deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.
I believe that it doesn’t take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.
And what is going on with gas prices… again?
If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I’m a BAD American.
You’re the Sergeant Schulz of the WeBlog.
Dayum CF, now THAT’s funny!!
RD, does her looking like hell have anything to do with any, um, powder she might be sniffing? I mean, she does vote in Florida, where she is under investigation for voting fraud for voting in a district where she did not reside :) She is a real gop trooper practicing what the gop preaches. VOTER FRAUD.
I wonder if she bought that diet powder from Rush?
Nawwwww. I think he only does downers. BY THE HANDFULL!!!!!!
“I said no no no no, I dont (sniff) no more, I’m tired of waking up on the floor. No thank you please, it only makes me sneeeze, and then it makes it hard to find the door”.
Or in her case, it makes it hard to find the truth.
Is she related to Phelps? She has that embalmed look.
Julie:
Do some quick checking. Carlin never wrote or said what you (and many others) attribute to him.
Julie, some of that sounds like Carlin, but some of it doesn’t. I’m a long time Carlin fan. Saw him do a concert here many years ago. I still have his old albums (vinyl). Wish I had something to play them on.
Joe, How is fred phelps a leftist. Ralph Nader there’s a leftist, one you said you voted for twice. yet you’ve claimed to have never voted for a leftist?
http://www.georgecarlin.com/home/home.html
ok y’all my bad for attributing to Carlin that which is not. I still like it. so ;)~
Looks like they’re going after NPR and PBS again to withdraw funding. :(
Julie, a LOT of it did sound like Carlin. Just a few things that didn’t strike me G-E-O-R-G-E-O-R-ish enough. :)
BTW, you’re full of vim and vinegar today. Great!
Is Phelps the only one who can get us out of Iraq?
TURNER
YES, I know what a con is.Asking for money in return for something worthless would be considered a CON.Why would you want money to do the next right thing anyway? If it’s the right thing to do,JUST DO IT!!
Those who dance are considered insane by those who cannot hear the music. –George Carlin
