A recent Eagle article and editorial revealed that LoanMax, a payday loan business, had paid hundreds of “witnesses” to appear at a local public meeting.
It’s disturbing that the payday industry is spreading its money and influence around in Topeka, too. In 2005, LoanMax made thousands of dollars in political contributions, including $1,000 each to top leaders such as Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, House Speaker Doug Mays and Attorney General Phill Kline.
In fact, scores of state legislators have received LoanMax contributions — all the more reason for voters to hold them accountable for their action, or lack of same, on this issue.
State Sen. Donald Betts (in photo), D-Wichita, called The Eagle editorial board to say he had received a contribution from LoanMax that he intends to return at a town hall meeting Saturday in Wichita. “I’ll be encouraging other Kansas senators to do the same,” he said, and work to pass new regulations on the industry.

This is just another example of judeo-capitalism and judeo-democracy, in action, at its’ finest.
Viva La Revolucion Blanco!!!
And what is it you do for a living, you immigrant mutt?
The word “contributions” doesn’t quite work here. Payola, bribe, vig . . . you get the picture.
Our republican legislature at work. LoanMax is just greasing the wheels of Kansas government.
…and this would be different than the tactics of terry and joe and their hero fred… how?
Whip people into a frenzy with half truths and outright lies, drum up a buncha suckas to get on a bus for a big show of force, raise lots of money to spread around topeka as a carrot, then wield the stick of “our congregations will vote you out of office” just to make SURE they do as you will, and then dance a little victory dance on the necks of those you just screwed?
Just subsitute customer for congregation, and you have the same thing.Yep, sounds just like terry and joe to me.
So why is it that THEY can work the political process in an identical manner, with probably FAR more money raised from out of state, and this guy cant influence the process in his own state?
Hypocrisy. IOKIYAAR
Walmart has been doing this same thing for years.
Don’t want a payday loan? Don’t get one….Works for the pro-choice gang. Surely we have more pressing issues to deal with.
Only a $1,000 to each of those legislators? That does not even make a dent in the money given to the supporters of the state owning casinos in Kansas. Not to mention that the state will also decide who gets the casinos and who don’t. Those legislators got thousands and thousands of dollars to support the state owning casinos but no one is crying fowl there. Why not?
If the legislature would allow the people to vote for private owned casinos and then let anyone that wanted to build a casino do so then that would be fine. It is just a few billionaires buying themselves some politicians so they can have a monopoly and just line their golden pockets some more.
So, far only two $1000 contributions have been reported to the Ethics Commission:

KS Meadowlark. You do great research.
With that list, is there anybody that hasn’t excepted a contribution from Loanmax?
That is really funny. Looks like he is just as skilled as the chicken guy, Bo Pilgrim, walked around the floor of the Texas legislature and handed out checks!! He knows how to spread the cash on both sides of the aisle.
Looks like sop to me. And he would be different from the Liquor Wholesalers, the gambling folks, etc.?
You are sooo right, KFG..it is just business as usual. This $1,000 each is tiny compared with the REAL dollars. Look at the money spent by insurance companies on “lobbying”. Or energy companies.
I liked your analysis earlier, and the comparison with Wright and Fox. Same thing..different name.
Patriot makes the most sense in my opinion..if you don’t like payday loans, don’t GET ONE! Simple.
Everyone one of the politicians listed above should give the contribution back like Senator Betts. That would be the right thing to do.
Isn’t it about time for some authentic campaign finance reform?
Oops, there’s more. A few above were reported as “Anderson Financial Services DBA Lonemax”.
There’s no rule for standardized reporting of names, so many reported this as Andreson Financial Services with no mention of “Loanmax”:

You think it is just business that gives to candidates? There are a lot of folks that give to candidates to get them to raise your taxes.
You have the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) that receives revenue from school districts in the form of dues to part of the association. Those are tax dollars. They then collect more money from the districts to give to candidates they want elected to raise taxes.
You have the Kansas Education Association (KNEA) that receives revenue from school employees in the form of dues to be a part of their union. Those are tax dollars. They ten use those dollars to give to candidates they want elected to raise taxes.
You have the school districts that allow the mail boxes for teachers and staff to be used by the KASB, KNEA and others to put political material in them to encourage them to vote for candidates that raise your taxes. Your tax dollars paid for those mail boxes and many times also for the copies of the materials that went in them.
You have Kansans United for Public Education (KUPE) that is businesses that have contracts with school districts. Just like the Sennesy (not sure how he spells it) Music guy that says people need to pay more taxes for education. He is only protecting the big contracts he has with school districts. Those contracts are paid with tax dollars. They give money to get candidates elected to raise taxes.
I think it is a bigger crime when our tax dollars are used to support certain candidates than it is to have businesses or individuals supporting candidates. If there is enough tax dollars to spend on candidates then there should be a tax cut due all of us.
Running for office costs money and I don’t want to see only rich legislators that can fund their own campaigns elected. I’m not sure what the best way is to fund campaigns. I don’t want to see tax dollars used and I don’t want to see only rich people run for it. Individuals don’t give enough for someone to run for office. So there has to be a balance. I just don’t know what that balance is. We say we don’t want to see candidates take money from certain businesses but then we don’t have an answer on how to fund campaigns.
This Don Betts guy is just doing this for some publicity because if he thought it was wrong to take the money from Loan Max (before the press made mention of it) he would have returned the money he has had in his possession for over a year. This is not the first time he has done this. The press points something out and he calls the press and says oh I am going to return it because I am so pure). Get real Don you are looking for publicity.
I wonder if Sen. Betts would have returned the contribution had this issue not received the publicity it has.
Senator Don Betts is a good man, an honest politician (god, I SAID THAT!!!) and a straight talker. He is probably the best person you all have in Topeka.
His staff is excellent, his staff is excellent, and they have always listened and Senator Betts has always been gracious. Even when I was berating him about the hate amendment.
He was under TREMENDOUS pressure from the churches in his community to vote in favor of putting the hate amendment on the ballot.
And for his courage? He was hounded, called at home, knocks on the door at all hours to tell him how bad queers were, etc. He was threatened that no one from “the churches” would support him if he didnt cave in to their bullying.
And in the face of that kind of pressure and extortion, what did Senator Betts do? He listened. He carefully weighed the issue, listened to all sides, questioned me and other relentlessly, sorted the facts from the b.s. and then?
He did the right thing. Stood up to the bullies in his own community, and did what HE knew to be the right thing. He knew that you cant support civil liberty and non-discrimination in one arena while being a hypocrit in another arena.
He was truely aligned with his own christian values. He did what was right and stood up to the high pressure bullies. Ya gotta love a man like that.
You all should be so lucky as to have ALL your senators be the kind of good man Don Betts is.
And sadly, I probably hurt him here by being his supporter. But I hear the ruby/sts/gertie/kcl machine gearing up for a smear campaign. The swiftboaters are ginning up the smears and putting their oars in the water. Do you hear them coming for candidates?
Please, be a better community than that. Dont fall for the swiftboating of Don Betts. YOUR community will be the ultimate loser.
Ok so all you jerks who wanted to hear me say a “good word” about someone in government, let’s see if you will whiz all over this. Let’s see how long it takes you to start the spin machine. And then wonder next time why I dont endorse anyone here. If I say up, you will certainly say down.
Let the spin begin!
Oh, and while I am at it and on a roll here, TOM SAWYER should be president. He is the last real, living democrat in kansas!!!!!
KSFG – Don Betts is a nice young man. Tom Sawyer is a nice man (probably not for president). The conversation here was not about gays it was about payday loan companies and campaign contributions.
I think this now makes twice that Don has offered to return a campaign donation after the press wrote an article. That is not as genuine as you say it is. If he was truly concerned with taking that money he should have never cashed the check over a year ago. He should have returned the actual check.
We all get the point that Don stood up for all of you gays. Get over that vote and move on. This issue here is about campaign donations, who gives them, who takes them and then who (like Don just did) uses the issue to be in the press.
“You have the Kansas Education Association (KNEA) that receives revenue from school employees in the form of dues to be a part of their union. Those are tax dollars.”Posted by: sotheysaid | June 24, 2006 at 08:13 PM
Those are not tax dollars.
After income and other taxes are paid by the employees, those dollars, once rendered in payment of services received (wages), are the property of the school employees to do with whatever the hell they wish.
It’s very simple…State Sen. Donald Betts is getting more political hay by returning the money than by keeping it..Is he returning it because it because he belives it is the right thing to do or is he returning it for the campain advantage..If he would have returned it before now and had not told anyone, until this issue came up, I would believe he did it for the right reason. Now, I am inclined to believe he did it for show and political gain with those who can not see through his purpose.
Heheh. Is anyone surprised at sts’ comments? Seems like it is ruby that usually says “get over it” kinda like nathan. And gertie. “get over it” seems to be the proll mantra here.
STS, how much DO you get paid for those posts?
Nice smear and swiftboating. I called it, didnt I, and you were right on cue. heheh. Do you just troll me or is it anything about a democrat in kansas? And dont you always ask why I dont “have a good word for anyone”? hehehe See this post for future reference.
STS, as predictable as the kansas gop.
Maybe I should post the list of folks who returned campaign contritbutions from the anti-hate amendment groups? I guess you think it is ok for those folks to return gay contributions, but not Don for returning crook contributions?
And when he found out what was up with the contributions you would have been happier if he had NOT returned it? OMG and now he has done it twice? Damn, a politician should STAY bought when they are paid for? heheh. THat only works for republicans ruby/sts/nathan/lmnop.
Heheh. Damn Betts. Not only did he do the right thing once, he CONTINUES to do the right thing. How AWFUL!!!!!!
You lose sts. No one was hijacking the thread for gays, god forbid. But please, feel free to smear Don with his support for defeating hate. It does indeed set him apart from the other wichita hate mongers like bonbon huy, brenda “tabor” landwehr, susan “I make my money from gambling but you cant vote on it” wagle, and the other rightwing worshipers of terry, joe and fred (hi gmc).
You just dont like to talk about a democrat who stood up to bigoted bullies and STILL won re-election. Someone who stood up to his own constituents and did the right thing in the face of your hateful smears.
It kinda spoils your threats to OTHER politicians, doesnt it, when you are shown to be toothless.
heheheh
Oh and right angle, also right on cue. hehehe.
Gee, I didnt see any of your conservative, republican, anti-gambling, christian coalition delegation members returning their checks FROM GAMBLING SUPPORTERS.
Once your republicans are bought, I guess they stay bought, no matter how dirty the money.
Nope. You wont catch sts/right angle’s republicans returning ANY questionable contributions, no matter HOW outrageous the hypocrisy. Like susan making her living from gambling, but voting against casino votes AFTER she took money from pro-gambling interests.
heheh. Republicans are more trustworthy I guess, since being an r means never having to admit a mistake. Maybe we should ALL poke around the ethics commission website to see whatover interests have bought and paid for the republican legislators in wichita.
CULTURE OF CORRUPTION!!!!!
heheheh.
I think this bears a repost considering right angle and ruby, er, STS posts.
It is ok if you are terry and joe but not ok if you are loanmax? You MUST be able to believe six impossible things before breakfast.
“…and this would be different than the tactics of terry and joe and their hero fred… how?

heheh. “get over it” must be the new one since the “angry, hateful woman” isnt working.
When the non-gop’ers win, you all dedicate your lives forever to overturning the win. Remember clinton and the multimillion dollar white water investigation, by the evangelical ken starr? YOU all would have spent the next millenium trying to overturn the will of the voters.
But when you win, like enshrining hate in the kansas constitution, we should just get over it?
heheh. Your hypocrisy knows no bounds.
YOU should just get over the fact that governor leadership will be here for four.more.years.
And I hear the sound of the wingnut machine eating its own. Nuss fuss anyone? Get over it. You lost on school finance.
KSFG – First of all I am not being paid to post anything. Second I think that if you do research the campaign finance reports (which are online and you can look up by the name of the giver as well as the recipient of the money) you will find that there are legislators that do not vote exactly the way some of their supporters would like for them to do. I for one do not want to see legislators vote a certain way just because they received some money from a business or person.
If you think donating to a campaign is buying a legislator then tell everyone how the campaigns should be financed. Do you want the government to give a certain amount of money for campaigns? Should the government cap what can be spent on campaigns? Should the government tell the candidates what they can say and not say? Should the government tell them that all of their signs, literature etc. has to look just like the next guy or gal? What is your solution to funding campaigns?
I would be interested in seeing the list you create for those that returned money from anything. I think you will find it a very short list. You might also want to see if they returned it like your Don Betts did after the press made note of it. I would also be interested in seeing the money you say was given to candidates in support of the marriage amendment. That will also be a short list.
The point being missed here is that if people want to use a payday loan company that is there right.
Thanks for making my points for me STS. Taking money from someone does not prove they are bought and paid for and RETURNING money does not mean it is a publicity stunt. Glad you finally decided to be reasonable.
SO… yer just a volunteer proll?
heheh
And I am not doing your homework for you. YOU post the list of campaign contributions and I’ll fill in the gaps.
And you wont find ANY from gay groups. I know why.
Do you?
And if you want to know who else I support, watch the repeat of Meet the Press tonight and see Feingold take it to ol’ punkin head.
Vichy dems and repukes are equally out of touch with the voters given this:
THIS is what The American People Say:In recent polls by the Pew Research Group, the Opinion Research Corporation, the Wall Street Journal, and CBS News, the American majority has made clear how it feels.
Look at how the majority feels about some of the issues:
1. 65 percent say the government should guarantee health insurance for everyone — even if it means raising taxes.
2. 86 percent favor raising the minimum wage (including 79 percent of selfdescribed “social conservatives”).
3. 60 percent favor repealing either all of Bush’s tax cuts or at least those cuts that went to the rich.
4. 66 percent would reduce the deficit not by cutting domestic spending but by reducing Pentagon spending or raising taxes.
5. 77 percent believe the country should do “whatever it takes” to protect the environment.
6. 87 percent think big oil corporations are gouging consumers, and 80 percent (including 76 percent of Republicans) would support a windfall profits tax on the oil giants if the revenues went for more research on alternative fuels.
7. 69 percent agree that corporate offshoring of jobs is bad for the U.S. economy (78 percent of “disaffected” voters think this), and only 22% believe offshoring is good because “it keeps costs down.”
http://alternet.org/story/29788 /
ANd I am remembering about that little poll in November.
KFG – you are the one that brought up looking at contributions. It figures you would not follow thru. Hee, hee, hee ‚Äì you can talk the talk but you just can’t walk the walk.
Oh why is that? You will find that you cannot back up what you have to say. ROFL
You are just too easy to get going on the blogs. LOL
THIS IS A TEST, IT IS ONLY A TEST!.Did State Sen. Donald Betts give back all the donations that were given to him by his fellow church members when he voted against their position?.I rest my case that giving back the money to payday loan was only a gimmick!!
On the other hand, if a Senator or Representative does not have the backbone to vote against the wishes of those who make a donation, then he should not accept the contribution.
sts/ruby/whatever multiple personality you are this hour, do James Barfield and I also know you as “Debbie”?
What amazes me is that the Eagle Editorial Board did not see right thru State Sen. Donald Betts’ scam and call him on it..Was it the Eagle Editorial Board’s lack of intelligence or their politics? Since I don’t think that they are that stupid, it leaves only one possibility.
STS, Right Angle, lmnop,
Since I am “lazy and lame” at research, :) you should feel free to post whatever it is you think I dont want posted. WTF? Go for it. I am not doing it for you. Just like I am not doing homework for nathan. He posts no links, answers no questions, does no research. Same with you. See any similarities here?
And one more thing…
Senator Don Betts didnt, in my opinion stand up for gays. He was standing up for the constitution, for equal protection under the law, for human rights and individual, civil liberty.
I know you republicans cant stand it when someone stands up FOR real American values and AGAINST bigotry. You wouldnt recognize real values if they bit you.
Heheh. Spin all ya want. You would have bitched if he didnt give it back just lie you are that he did give it back. And if you notice, loanmax spread the cash on both sides of the aisle.
Remember, people who live in glass houses shouldnt be surprised when the stones they throw boomerang.
Oh yeah, right hatefuloldwoman. Why don’t you tell the WHOLE story?”1. 65 percent say the government should guarantee health insurance for everyone — even if it means raising taxes.”We all know that 45% don’t have insurance in the first place, so your poll is slanted! Of course those crybabies are going to want health care. So I guess that pulls your “poll” result down to more like 20%.”2. 86 percent favor raising the minimum wage (including 79 percent of selfdescribed “social conservatives”).”Hell, the poverty rate in the U.S. is only 12.5%, and it’s mostly women and children. People only think they’re concerned about poor people, and they whine so much. It’s gettin so you can’t hardly walk down the streets anymore without tripping over some poor person. They should stay off the streets! Always complaining about being hungry. My dinner was an hour late last night, and you didn’t hear me complaining about being hungry!”3. 60 percent favor repealing either all of Bush’s tax cuts or at least those cuts that went to the rich.”Why do you hate rich people?”4. 66 percent would reduce the deficit not by cutting domestic spending but by reducing Pentagon spending or raising taxes.”Maybe you haven’t heard there’s a war going on and a couple more that need started. You act like we should have to limit ourselves to 2 wars. Don’t forget we got Iranians and Syrians talkin bad and makin faces at us. We need to bust their chops and show ‘em whose boss just like we’re doin to them Iraqis. Now I’m not including the N. Koreans, cause we can talk sense to them, and their army is bigger than ours.”5. 77 percent believe the country should do “whatever it takes” to protect the environment.”Now see? that’s what’s wrong with you Liberals. If we’d have let President George W Bush cut down all the forests like he wanted to, we wouldn’t be having forest fires, would we?”6. 87 percent think big oil corporations are gouging consumers, and 80 percent (including 76 percent of Republicans) would support a windfall profits tax on the oil giants if the revenues went for more research on alternative fuels.”I’d like to hear you say that to Haliburton’s face!”7. 69 percent agree that corporate offshoring of jobs is bad for the U.S. economy (78 percent of “disaffected” voters think this), and only 22% believe offshoring is good because “it keeps costs down.”Well maybe you crybabies should just follow the jobs. I don’t hear no Mexicans complaining about having to move to another country to get a job.Well I guess I cleared that up.
Interesting style ya got there In.
Saw it on another thread too.
Ironic sarcasm? I can’t think of a better way to describe it.
You’re so “good” at it, the careless readers might not get it!
You are just too easy to get going on the blogs. LOL
Posted by: sotheysaid | June 25, 2006 at 02:28 PM
Gosh STS. Does that mean you admit to trolling? Posting to redirect a thread? Gee, first you want me to stop posting and then you encourage me to get going?
hehehehhhheeeehhhehehe
And Infernal B. Funny Stuff. Good ones.
No, it’s just fun to see you go off so easily. hee, hee, hee
You need to remember that it was a Democrat in the House that worked to help pass the marriage amendment (that appears to make you so angry). It was not done just with Republicans. It took a lot of Democrats to get it passed.
I have never said you should not post. I do not try to re-direct the thread. You are the one that seems to have a gay point to make in most of your posts. You need to realize that it is ok for you to be gay in Kansas. You just can’t get married. So you did not lose anything with the amendment.
I would just like to you to be honest. Don did not send back the money until the press said something. He had the money for over a year.
If you follow your thought process then Don needs to make sure he returns any money he received from people that he voted against. Did he do that? Probably not because he did not have the press bring it to his attention. Guess you should call him and let him know that if you vote against someone that gave you money than Don you must give the money back.
You are just such a riot KSG. I would not want to see you leave the blog. Hee, Hee, Hee.
LET ME REPEAT IN CASE YOU MISSED IT!!THIS IS A TEST, IT IS ONLY A TEST!.Did State Sen. Donald Betts give back all the donations that were given to him by his fellow church members when he voted against their position?.I rest my case that giving back the money to payday loan was only a gimmick!!.What amazes me is that the Eagle Editorial Board did not see right thru State Sen. Donald Betts’ scam and call him on it..Was it the Eagle Editorial Board’s lack of intelligence or their politics? Since I don’t think that they are that stupid, it leaves only one possibility.
Either I just stepped off into lake stoopid, or the last 2 posts are for real.
New here, good back and forth, enjoying it. I like you ksfarmgirl, but are you really a farmer? This seems like a busy time of year for farming and you are on her all day every day. Do you have WiFi on the tractor? Pretty cool if you do!
Oh, these tiresome pseudo-libertarian answers to everything…
Don’t like child pornography, don’t watch it.
Don’t like armed robbery, buy a big gun.
Don’t like payday loans, don’t get one.
The list could go on… but really, can any of you free market types tell me how payday loans and usary interest rates are helping the Wichita economy.
Our legislature voted in allowing nearly 400% APR (and yes Joe Williams we can argue some more on what that means, exactly). I have not heard from anyone why the statutory situation before the 400% APR was not okay, and how these lenders help our citizens. Anybody got an answer for that one?
If you have used any of these predatory lenders please take this survey:

Well HI “newtotown”! Let me be the first to “welcome” you. Ya never get a “second chance” to make a “first impression.” “Entering” this forum without posting the thread and with a thinly veiled shot at a poster you CLEARLY know “something” about suggests that you are not what you claim to be. So MY first impression of you is that you are not in fact “newtotown”. I call troll or proll. You are free and invited to prove otherwise.
Heheheh. Well new to town, why dont you ask joe williams how I spend my days?
You know, driving around in my $40,000 truck, buring fuel, smokin’ cigs, drinkin’ coffee, cashing subsidy checks, and playing keno. Between joints of union dope and now? I guess cruising the internet with the wifi in my truck.
Yes I really am a farmer, and yes, I really do make my income SOLELY from farming. And YOU? Do you all make your living trolling?
Looks like a concerted effort to come after me. Hee hee hee. You are such putzs. Bring it on. You cant make your points on the issues with out showing your stupidity, so bring it on. I’ll make a fool out of you again. Not that you arent capable of doing it yourself.
And, I rest my case about Don Betts. He does the right thing (exactly HOW MUCH did susan and bonbon and jean and phil journey, et al give back?)and gets hammered for it. So… let’s see…. how much money did your folks give back?
Please post the list of all the Wichita conservatives and republicans who gave back campaign money. You can do that, right?
Bring it on. You do not intimidate me. I love it when you show your ass! The more ya post, the more I win.
hehehehe. Next?
More new trolls. Tim, new to town, etc. Is there an index for all these “posters” or is it just one lonely single guy with no friends, no girlfriends, etc? Just dropping in here between porn sites?
It sure will be interesting after nathan is deployed to see how many of these conservative nic one hit posters disappear.
And.. heheheheheh.
It is REALLY gonna be fun in November to watch the republicans go down in flames IN KANSAS. And it will really be fun to chant four.more.years when you all cant win AGAIN.
Stupid is and stupid does. Maybe you need to infiltrate the democrats and not this blog if you EVER want the governor’s seat again.
I guess it is desperation that makes you all so bitchy. Geez, you sound like gay guys.
Well KFG – the only thing I agree with on your new nic is the woman part. Giving in to the trolls and wannabes and changing your nic. sigh. Darlin’ come back to us as you truely are – KansasFarmGRRL !!!
And… heheheheh…. pissing on me does not erase the fact that Don Betts is a great senator for you all. It will not get him defeated. I see you have nothing of substance to say about him other than he gave back campaign money. Wow. What a bad guy!!!!!
You just look like the whiney, sour grapes, loser kind of republican you are when you piss on someone for doing the right thing.
Hehehe. And you would have supported him if he had KEPT the money? BIG eye roll here. We see your posts for what they are. Nonsense and whining.
Just keep spinning and attacking. No matter how many multiple nics you use, you still use the same phrases, words and themes. You think you are smart to catch tb in all his nics? Dont think we dont know YOU and all YOUR nics.
All this trolling doesnt change the fact that while the republicans control both houses of the kansas legislature, they have to stoop to eating their own who arent RED enough.
You are purging your own party like a pogrom and the dems are reaping the benefits. heheh. nice move. Please, keep sending more reasonable people across the isle. It’s getting pretty bare of them on your side of the aise, isnt it?
All your whining and crying doesnt change the fact that you repubs cant beat Sebelius with your wimpy and corrupt little wingnut candidates. Period.
She will win in November, no matter how much you attack me. Maybe you should be out working for your candidates instead of peeing on the legs of people here. Like a little bitchy dog.
The truth is that more people approve of gay marriage than approve of this republican president and republicans controlling congress.
The kansas delegation doesnt fare any better. Hehehe and if brownback continues his pious stupidity, Sebelius will whip his ass in 08 too. Cant wait.
The truth is that only paris hilton has lower approval ratings than your war mongering republican vice president. I wonder how high phill “I’m obsessed with teen sex” klein’s approval ratings are? hehehe. About where paris is I would guess.
Maybe you should be working for him instead of trolling here.
The truth is that the kansas legislature had the responsibility for funding school finance, and your republican controlled house and sentate could NOT do their job.
They blew it with infighting and ideological litmus tests. Kids were waaaayyy down the priority list for kansas republicans.
Dont blame the courts or use YOUR incompetence to weaken the judiciary in kansas. If the repubs in the kansas legislature had been as interested in our schools as they were in their own political welfare checks, the courts wouldnt have HAD to step in.
If the republican controlled house and the republican controlled senate had fixed school finance LAST YEAR, without a special session and extra pay checks, the repubs would be seen as winners. But now? heheh. Losers with a capital LOSE!
The kansas repubs would bring up gay marriage again if they could. They always need someone to hate, otherwise, they dont know who they are. The kansas repubs had time for gay marriage last year, but not enough time to fix school finance? When they control BOTH houses? hehehehehehehehehehehheheh Screw public schools, but hey, we are safe from queers getting married.
And who cares if our kids learn science?
And kansas continues to have high divorce rates in a state where conservative republicans and evangelicals hold sway.
Do as I say but not as I do for this republican state? And gay marriage is still illegal. Who ya gonna blame now for your inablility to walk the bible talk?
heheh. Your legislators screw up, dont do their jobs, get paid for a special session, and you have the unmitigated stupidity to blame the queers and the COURTS?
heheheheheheheheheheheh.
The courts HAD to step in and take school finance over since the REPUBLICANS couldnt even meet the guidelines set by THEIR OWN STUDY! SO what do you kansas republicans do? heheh YOU BLAME THE COURT!!
Woof. Now THAT is tortured logic.
The truth is that if sebelius had sent the kansas national guard to the texas or new mexico or arizona boarder, you would have bitched that she wasnt protecting the state.
You just wanna bitch. Just like with Don Betts. Take the money and you bitch. Give it back and you bitch.
Do you see a pattern here, bitch?
The truth is that if YOUR preznit and YOUR congress wanted to enact tougher immigration laws, they would.
If your republican STATE legislators wanted to be tougher on immigration, they could. But they dont.
And you wanna criticize the democrats? heheh. Can you say hipocrisy?
If your REPUBLICANS wanted to enforce existing immigration laws, they would. If you preznit wanted to stop catering to big business and listen to the populace about immigration, they would.
But they dont. Why is that, sts/ruby/debbie/blow/nathan/etc?
Why are all those things true about YOUR party and YOUR elected officials?
Hehehe. You cant win on the issues, so bring on the personal attacks. I’ll continue to point out what a DISASTER it is to elect the same people who got us into school finance problems.
Please, ruby/sts/debbie/nathan/blow/tim/nick/lmnop. Please enlighten us on why the republican majorities cant do any better in kansas? Because Sebelius is all powerful? heheh. Because she controls you like weak little puppets? heheh.
Whiners and blamers when they hold almost ALL of the power in this state. Too bad the kansas republicans arent fixers and doers.
hee hee hee, thanks for getting me going on the blogs today. I’ll just turn off the wifi in my tractor now that I am so energized. I’m off to cash my subsidy checks that I receive thanks to the REPUBLICANS in congress.
heheheheheheheheh. Bring it on.
I know what you’re up to!You’re growing dental floss, aren’t you?All the while riding the range with your trusty zirconium encrusted tweezers!
“You need to remember that it was a Democrat in the House that worked to help pass the marriage amendment (that appears to make you so angry).”
Yes, I did indeed forget to mention the heinous, bigoted, democrat in name only JAN PAULS. The only democrat value she holds is… well… I cant think of one.
And Candy Ruff? Please. I wish she and Jan Pauls would switch parties and embarass YOU ALL for a while. They contribute nothing to the democrat party in kansas. Please. Take them both.
They will fit nicely with YOUR kansas koulter girls like kay “ethics violations” o’connor, connie “flat earth” morris, susan “bingo” wagle, bonbon “marriage at 14″ huy, brenda “tabor” landwehr, kathe “I hate evolution” decker, etc.
All y’all as they would say in texas. Please. Take ‘em.
Okay, so I guess you’re not talkin’ to me anymore.I’ll quit trying to be funny then.
Trace, it take a true Zappa aficianado to get the “dental floss” line.
Please keep being funny. This place certainly needs it.
Thanks Rage, I didnt have a clue what that meant. I just figured it was another shot.
Amen, brother Rage, Amen!!I’ve tried being serious about the hot-button issues, and tried being rude to the racist prick here.It just ain’t workin’ for me.Back to the one-liners, irony and gallows humor!
Girl, I have never taken cheap shots at ya’. The worst thing I’ve said is that you are angry.I didn’t even know why, when I said that, it was just an observation. Now that I understand more of why, I believe I can say I stand with you on the issue that angers you.
KFG, Tracy is uncurably snarky, but IMHO he’s a good guy. He also shares my distaste for argumentsthat go from sharp-edged (okay with me) to all-out brawls (not so okay).
Hell, dude, in your absence I even quoted you:http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2006/03/blaming_the_med.html#comment-15425348
. . .which is a reference to this:http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2005/12/fisa_judges_wan.html#comment-12314630
Take a bow, you foul-mouthed MF! :)
Why thank you kind sir!!I just recalled that advice over the weekend, and decided to quit on assholes like Ian.I was even starting to believe I hated the guy after playing the part for a couple of weeks.Truth is, I can’t think of anybody I hate. I tried being devisive, and like I said, it just ain’t me.When it quit being fun, I quit.
Kansasfarmgrrl?
Emphasising the grr:)
I want to second Julies call for you to change your nic back. See? Alot of posters are not gonna know why you changed it. They won’t know that in a flame war that someone else started, he called you a “hateful old woman”.(Just what that added to his arguement other than revealing him as rather unimaginative I’m not sure.) They may not be conscious or have seen all the threads enough to see that poster and a handful of the ususal right wing suspects have given up bringing any ideas of their own or refutation of your ideas to debate with you and have reduced THEMSELVES to calling you angry, hateful, mean etc.
The thread where that war started IS an amusing read. I’m still laughing. I never saw anyone melt down like he did!
Casual readers may also not pick up on how you have been trolled and ganged up on by posters who may have more than one nic.
So your use of their own charges against you to make the statement “Ok, if this is how you are gonna define me I may as well wear it!” back against your attackers is gonna be lost on alot of better folks.
(I thought it was funny as hell right after you did it)
I get the irony. Other people might not.
What troubles me here is the posibility of future meet ups and REAL “newtotown” posters being colored by the unfair portrayal of you as an unjustifiably angry, mean hearted person. I know you and that is not you. You should not let others define you. I don’t intend to. I don’t intend to let you do it with overdone irony!
Hey trolls? Mess with kfg and ya mess with me. The little kindness and presumption of “innocence” I afforded “newtotown” I did out of the posibility that this was a new poster. I will not be so kind when I KNOW I got a troll in my sights. (evil grin)
Herrrrrre Troooollllllll
And the next person I see call kfg “angry” when it isn’t relevant I am going to call “crazy”. Let the insanity begin.
Change your nic back kfg.”how” just doesn’t work!
Luv yaAll being master of the blog. (well that’s what he called me!)
J R
hmmm….
I have no idea where Senator Betts stands on this, but do you think these attacks on him might be prompted by republican fear?

There was an interview with JJ Selmon, Community Organizer on the Payday Lender LoanMax Protests Against Protesters and Payday Loans in Kansas. On June 10th, payday loan provider LoanMax paid approx 400-plus people $100 each to go to the Sunflower seminar about the “Dangers of Payday Loans” and the payday loan industry. Mr. Selmon tells Payday Loan Industry Watch what happened. Then, PLIWatch.org discuss with Mr. Selmon a variety of payday loan issues affecting the Wichita community.
