Is Rove running on empty?

A lot of Democrats out there were crushed to learn that Bush adviser Karl Rove wouldn’t be charged in the CIA leak case. But Walter Shapiro argues that a Rove indictment probably wouldn’t have made much difference at the polls anyway. And maybe Rove isn’t as big a political threat as once believed. Shapiro writes, “Rove was not exactly doing hard time on a federal rock pile when Bush’s popularity plunged to around 35 percent. It was Rove’s handiwork to make Social Security privatization the signature issue of Bush’s second term. The disastrous fate of that political gambit, combined with the Iraq war, turned Bush into a lame-duck president before his time. As a political strategist, Rove runs the gamut of issues from A (national security) to B (tax cuts). Six years into his tenure in the White House, Rove may be running on empty, just like the president whom he serves.”

Rove was also the purported genius behind shrub’s proposed wetaback amnesty and we all know how well that went over with most Americans.

I recall reading that Yelstin left office with a five percent approval rating. I think shrub may challenge that mark, IF he serves out his term!

    Viva La Raza Blanco!!!

Wasn’t Rove one of the American political consultants dispatched by the U.S. to shore up Yeltsin’s reelection campaign?

You got that right. Downright crushed. Put many in depression and into painful adrenaline withdrawl from the let down.

They are now in a state of denial by saying he got away with it like O.J. or they discount his effectivness in the Republican political machine.

Haw haw haw! Check out this piece from Raw Story! It connects Karl Rove to NED BEATTY getting sodomized in “Deliverance!”

Way to play the game, Dems!

    *******************************

    http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Kerry_spokesman_rips_into_porcine_Rove_0613.html

A spokesman for Senator John Kerry (D-MA) has launched an unusually personal attack on presidential adviser Karl Rove, RAW STORY has learned.

The move comes one day after Rove called plans to exit Iraq proposed by Senator Kerry and Representative John Murtha (D-PA) “profoundly wrong” “cut and run” strategies. “They may be with you for the first few bullets,” Rove said, “but they won’t be there for the last tough battles.”

Both Kerry and Murtha are decorated service veterans.

“The closest Karl Rove ever came to combat,” said Kerry spokesman David Wade, “was these last months spent worrying his cellmates might rough him up in prison. This porcine political operative can’t cut and run from the truth any longer.”

Wade continued: “When it came to Iraq, this Administration chose to cut and run from sound intelligence and good diplomacy, cut and run from the best military advice, cut and run from their responsibility to give our troops body armor, and in November Americans will cut and run from this Republican Congress.”

    **********************************

Oh, and J M Walker, who made YOU block captain? Opey was absolutely within his rights to push back against Joe Williams’s characterization of the Democratic attitude toward Rove’s avoiding legal charges. If he wants to tweak Joe Williams for saying something stupid and juvenile, that’s totally in line here.

We just had a topic about Rove where they were talking about how he may be clear of charges, but his name is still tarnished.

So here we are a couple of days later… trying to tarnish Rove some more.

    LOL

  12. Posted June 15, 2006 at 8:40 am | Permalink

Rove is permanently tarnished because of his complicity with the fascist bush administration. There is nothing that can be done to remove that stench.

There appears to be a pattern here, not that I’m complaining. Liberals have been calling Republicans stupid and incompetent for years. Yet when it comes to elections, the left has been getting kicked in the pants. And all they can do each time is wonder what happened.

Please continue to think as you do. I like the pattern. And no need to worry about Rove.

  14. Posted June 15, 2006 at 9:23 am | Permalink

Outlander, your comment just confirms the idea that Repugs are “stupid and incompetent”. Let’s do look at elections. You Repugs have virtual control of all three branches of the federal government and look at the mess you have created. I don’t think there is a need to go into great detail about this mess, it is self evident.

The Bush administration, and perhaps Outie, never knew this – there is a difference between campaigning and drafting/implementing policy. Karl Rove is good at the former, completely out of touch and incompetent in the latter.

When I say that Rove is good at campaigning, I mean he is good at finding wedge issues, appealing to the worst aspects of human nature, and completely abandoning all forms of human decency to win. These are exactly the opposite traits of what it takes to be good at drafting/implementing policy.

So, yes, like outlandish, I am in favor of seeing this trend continue. The approval ratings show what magnificent job you guys are doing. Keep pushing that message, please.

It is always a good idea to “stay the course” when you are driving off of a cliff. /sarcasm

    Outlander:

Why wouldn’t you like Rove? As far as I can tell he is your surrogate on any number of issues.

Pandering to the far regligious right is Rove’s handiwork. 2 Billion dollars in 2004 to faith-based initiatives with no monitoring or oversight (read – pork to the faithful) was Rove’s deal. The way I see it, he is your dear friend. “Not liking” Rove, is that how you show your loyalty?

What don’t you like about him? Curious minds would like to know.

I am neutral as to Karl Rove. I have nothing against him..

Faith-based initiatives do not affect my life. If religious orgs can distribute more efficiently than the government, power to them.

I do disagree with your assertion that Rove is good at campaigning, bad at policy. You can’t seperate them.

sure you can, outlander. Many a revolutionary has had his head handed to him when it comes time to run the country. Look at Hamas for a recent example. It is one thing to storm the barricades, it is another to run the whole thing if you win.

“I do disagree with your assertion that Rove is good at campaigning, bad at policy. You can’t seperate them.”

This is priceless. Recall when the right bitched and moaned day in & day out over Clinton’s perpetual campaign? Since they have adopted his policy it is the right thing to do. Hypocrites.

Historical revisionism is WRONG! Unless, of course, it is the Repubs doing the re-writing.

You guys have no shame. But you knew that already.

Don’t forget, Out, in 2004, the dems ran you a close race, with a nearly cadaverous candidate. Better hope they make that mistake again!

The real story for Dems, is that they need a candidate. One that can appeal to the base and get others interested, too.

Al Sharpton – can’t beat him for comedy, but he’s not my presidential candidate.

Edwards – I need more than Kennedy hair and the “two Americas” story.

Kerry – a nice man, but just too dead to win.

Lieberman – show me how he’d be different from electing Newt.

Al Gore – well, if the REAL ONE (the one who slapped Ross Perot around like he was his pappy) would show up – maybe…

Hillary – if she is the best the Dems can do – they might be better off not fielding anybody.

Dems. Past time to find a candidate.

HA HA HA! Here’s Lee Iacocca on the Bush ‘Administration,’ and Rove in particular.

    http://www.joinleenow.org/iacocca%20single%20page.pdf

    *********************************

Q: What sort of CEOs do you think George W. Bush and his administration make?

A: “I make speeches for the Washington Speakers Bureau, get $75,000 for 30 minutes, and all I ever say is, “Here ’s what management is about. Hire good people and set some basic priorities and objectives.” Well, let ’s see how GeorgeBush qualifies. The people that surround him are just friends, and I think most of them are just schmucks, because I know a lot of them. Who runs the country? Cheney, who is getting old and sick and had this hunting accident. And “Rummy,” Rumsfeld, whom I know real well —they ‘ve been together forever, and they run the country. They had Condoleezza Rice for lunch. I don ‘t know what she ’s got on Bush, but, boy, he believes in her. Other than those three, the mastermind of them of all, the boy genius, is Karl Rove —slime bucket that he is. You ‘ve got to know him to see how slimy he is.”
