Is Obama what the Democrats need in 2008?

Most of the Democrats said to be considering a run for president — Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and Al Gore — have been in the public eye for a long time. Maybe too long, some Democrats are saying. Those in the party who think it’s time for a fresh face in 2008 are reportedly turning to freshman Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois as a potential candidate. The senator has been a rising star since his speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. “I haven’t seen a phenomenon like this, where someone comes in so new and is so dazzling,” Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y, told The Washington Post. So far, Obama hasn’t ruled out a run.

The dems aren’t stupid enough to run a pro-ciminal, pro-wetback, affirmative action coconut like obama, are they? Why don’t they just give fat teddy another shot?

    Viva La Raza Blanco!!!

The only way Obama won’t be president someday is a) the right wing dictatorship becomes complete; or b) he decides he just doesn’t want it.Deal with it, Gertie!

He has a shot, but to be honest the democratic party is not known for picking good people. you have the same problem we do. The extreme still have too much pull in the party.

The name of the game is to win the election.

Bush gave us dazzling speeches, but look at all the baggage he brought with him, so all I’ve heard about Obama is all about a stirring speech.

    Big deal.

So, If you’re that big on losing, then run Jesse Jackson as his running mate, or maybe Joe Lieberman. Notice Joe Lieberman turned-up all the heat, with all his baggage and flying his true colors?

    No more losers.

The Democratic Party needs a winner, a fresh face, so there’s one out there, don’t get nervous, just keep looking.

The Democrats won’t let Obama run for President. Although he is shined as a star, they Democrats want to keep him in check. It’s the old racist ways of the Party of Racisim.

I’ve read stories on how Harry Reid keeps a tight leash around him. That is why he doesn’t get any attention from the media anymore.

And Chucky Schumer saying something? That guy is the best skilled liar in Congress. That guy can sell a condom to a nun and a poop brick house on a hot sunny day. And the democrats and media eat it up.

These wild statements posted as fact are brought to you by the professional bell ringers union of america. Back to your regularly scheduled programing of “the world’s ills are caused by leftist democrats.” heheheh.

I read the other day that the preznit got thrown out of their bedroom by laura because he is sleeping with condi.

I read it, but it doesnt make it true, and I dont believe it.

It is called critical reasoning and should be tried by the facists on the right.

But hey, if you read it williams, it must be true. Big eye roll here. Crowson better watch out. The laughs are coming from williams posts faster than the cartoons.

They still dont hold a candle to the lies of the liar in chief.

I like what I read as the republican strategy to stay the course across the board.

It isnt cut and run, it’s LIE AND DENY!!!!!!!

Obama may well be president someday. What I’ve seen of him is impressive.

But he needs a track record. So far, about all he’s accomplished is some great speaches. Let him serve for a while, accumulate a record to see what he does rather than what he says, and then . . .

Who knows. But for 2008? Too soon.

Tracy, Karl Rove can write a speech and Bush is great at reading one. Has no idea what it’s about but he does say the words.

    And for a dumb-ass, that’s dazzling.

KFG, where did you find the info on GW and Laura? I have a link to a questionable(?) site, but I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere else. I do want to keep up, just in case. ;) Besides, the idea of George and Condi is so…dang, I can’t think of a word. LOL

  17. Posted June 21, 2006 at 12:45 pm | Permalink

Well, there was the time Condi supposedly slipped up and call Dubya her husband (at least according to a comic strip)…

    Posted June 21, 2006 at 12:50 pm | Permalink

The part about condi calling him her husband is true. She later amended that to say office husband. heheh

I read about Laura moving out of the white house because of a supposed affair between shrub and condi. It was a tinfoil site, and I give it no credibility.

And I have no more interest in george and laura’s panty drawer than bill and hill’s.

Just making a point that we all read lots of things we should question, but not all of us do.

That’s where I saw the “news” too. I don’t believe everything I read, but that was too funny to let pass. The great thing is that nobody has yet refuted it. Reps don’t know how to answer. Doesn’t make it true, but it’s fun to watch them sputter and squirm.

Hehehe RD. Reminds me of a story they tell in Texas about LBJ. Some campaign before he became vp. LBJ suggested to his campaign people that they start a rumor that his opponent liked to “diddle little boys” as he put it. The uncomfortable aids reminded him that the rumor was false. LBJ’s reply? “Hell, I know it isnt true. I just want to hear him deny it!”

    Posted June 22, 2006 at 8:19 am | Permalink

I always favored the stories about LBJ giving interviews and discussing state business whilst astride the crapper.

Reminds me of the best show currently airing new episodes on HBO, Deadwood. Al Swearengen’s dialogue with Merrick (publisher of the Pioneer, the sole Deadwood rag) last week was just classic. The whole scene (political boss moves a weak publisher around like a pawn while simultaneously scolding, lecturing, praising, and pumping up town and publisher both) holds true today.

BTW, if you haven’t seen Deadwood yet, check it out. IMHO, maybe the best scriptwriting in American television history. Robin Weigert’s Calamity Jane is worth the price of admission alone.

LBJ would have loved it, I’m sure.

Williams must be talking about the republicans here, since they are the ones who oppose extending the voting act of 1965.

You know, the one that helped end the disenfranchisement of black folks?

Yep. The repukes decided yesterday not to bring the renewal up for a vote. Why?

They didnt have a majority of republican senators in favor of it….
