White House recycles after all

In case you missed this harmless gotcha from Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show” the other night:
“He’s the right man to lead the CIA at this critical moment in our nation’s history,” said President Bush in introducing Michael Hayden Monday as his nominee to replace CIA Director Porter Goss.
“He’s the right man to lead this important agency at this critical moment in our nation’s history,” Bush said in introducing Goss in August 2004.

Why refresh the rhetoric when it worked so well the first time?

Sounds like he should clean out some speech writers. Maybe they could go to hollywood and write inane sitcoms. Wait, isn’t that redundant?

    I prefer Colbert myself.

And so with propers to Stephen,

Lets break down bush’s trite, recycled statement.

    “He’s the right man,”

(He thinks like I do and is not about to disagree with me or tell me anything I don’t want to hear)

    …”to lead this important agency”

(It must be important. Poppy was head of it I think. Plus they keep sending me lots a stuff to read. I wish they wouldn’t do that. But if I call it important folks may actually think I take any of this seriously and so I’m covered.)

“at this critical moment in our nations history”(Stay scared folks! Don’t think about things too much. It works for me!)

Yep. I just love watching Jon try to keep a straight face when doing the nightly ‘toss’ to Stephen.
