‘Stand by Your Man’ isn’t on Hillary’s iPod?

For what it’s worth — which isn’t much — Hillary Clinton’s iPod includes Aretha Franklin’s “Respect,” the Beatles’ “Hey Jude” and “Take it to the Limit” by the Eagles. “I’m a child of the ’60s and ’70s,” she told the New York Post. Meanwhile, President Bush’s iPod includes the Knack’s “My Sharona,” John Fogerty’s “Centerfield” and Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl” along with country songs by George Jones and Alan Jackson, the Post reported, and Vice President Dick Cheney sticks with country musicians such as Johnny Cash.

Ok, now there are two things I can like about Cheney! And I have found a little to like about Bush.If they admit to liking chocolate milk I might be able to forgive them for everything else! As far as that goes I wonder what kind of music and milk Hitler liked?

I am so disappointed to hear that bush doesnt listen to the dixie chics. He must be jealous of their approval ratings being so much higher than his and dead eye cheney’s.

Not sure what is worse…the slow news day that creates the above item, or us for even commenting on it. (yes, I include myself in that one).

This is newsworthy, the type of music people prefer? What is next, a discussion on who prefers Fords or Chevys? *sigh*…

Maybe values boy is on vacation today so they dont know how to write a “valued” thread?

…or maybe it is a matter of time? Maybe they are all sitting in values class so values boy can lecture them on the TRUE values we should ALL hold.

And maybe, if we are good little children and take our baths and put on our jammies with no arguement, values boy will lecture US on the values we should all hold.

And they say the media has no morals. Not in doodaa. No sirreee. They have their very own values GURU to set them on the moral high ground. And it must be high ground indeed, given the lofty perspective of the ONLY values guru in Wichita.

Too bad it takes up so much time that ipods are one of the top news items.

Couldnt values boy instead maybe lecture brenda landwehr on swearing, bonbon huy on the age of consent for marriage, and ALL of your money grubbing legislators who take gambling money and prevent you from VOTING on the issue?

Heck, values boy could even lecture Susan “I make my money from bingo but you cant vote on gambling” Wagle about hypocricy?

But NOOOOOOOOO. Values boy has OTHER things on his little mind! He’s got SPECKs to remove from the eyes of others. He has to ignore the logs in the eyes of the VALUES politicians.

Look, over THERE! A bright and shiney object. Pay no attention to the pious legilators behind the curtain.

I LOVE the Dixie Chicks, but don’t ever count on hearing them on any Wichita radio station ever again, Clear Channel (based in Texas) has done it’s best to destroy their career and 102 did a great job bashing them on air yesterday. I won’t ever listen to 102 again, I took them off my dial. Anyone who believes Bush is a moron and that this war is a mistake and a huge waste should go out and buy their new CD. They deserve to be supported in their careers buy those of us who agree with them.

A recent NY Times article on the Dixie Chicks:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/21/arts/music/21pare.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

They sound very unrepentent. But then, they were proven right.

Yeah DD. Why should they repent for being correct? Because the bush crime family says so?

Heheh. ALL those big strong men and it took CHICs to speak the truth.

In anticipation of Numbnut’s nick picking, let us say that their opinions have been stongly vindicated.

I could really care less about the Dixie Chicks and it has nothing to do with their Anti-war stance. Just like I could care less about that race horse who broke its leg. Barabos or something like that? I also could care less about the winner of American Idol.

Since I think the Dixie Chicks suck, does that make me a basher of the Dixie Chicks?

“Since I think the Dixie Chicks suck, does that make me a basher of the Dixie Chicks?”

No, Joe; it’s just a strong suggestion that all your taste is in your mouth.

I saw the first version of the band when they played in Winfield in 1991. The former lead singer is now a math teacher at Collegiate. At the Winfield Bluegrass festival she got dressed up in a Dolly Parton type outfit and assured the audience “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!”

    They were hot then, too.

I saw her and her bluegrass band play at the ca2002 River Festival. I couldn’t help but notice that she’s not very hard on the eyes. I also thought she and her band were fine musicians.

Joe, I noticed that 4 sentences after you wrote “I could really care less about the Dixie Chicks,” you wrote “I think the Dixie Chicks suck.”

Such logical contortions ARE hard on the eyes, btw.

It amazes me how vindictive the music industry and media is toward the Chicks, when they merely echo the opinions of many (most?) Americans. Why should they be punished or labeled unpatriotic for exercising the right to speak freely and express an opinion? Isn’t that what being an American is all about? Are country music fans really so stupid and intolerant? Just reminds me of the McCarthy era, which is no surprise with Bush&Co’s inability to tolerate anyone who doesn’t see eye to eye with them. How sad. I want my country back.

Damoon, part of it was their timing. Bush was riding high in the polls, our troops were going into harm’s way.The other part was the place they said it. In another country, it is one thing to bad mouth the President here it is bad form to go to another country to bad mouth. Remember Jane Fonda?

Anyway that was what I was hearing about it back when it started.Me personally, I was more upset by what she was saying about Toby Keith. He was just singing about how we all felt.

As to clear channel, they were getting threats of boycotts if they played the Chicks. If your listeners command you do, right or wrong, you do!

But yes, the Chicks are great both to listen to and on the eyes.

I think Country Music sucks in general. That’s just me. Bad music and bad lyrics and bad vocals. I don’t see any musician talent in it.

Well… I’ll admit. That “Donkey Kong” song is funny and catchy, but I have no idea who sings it.

I don’t think the Dixie Chicks and Jane Fonda are in the same league at all. The Chicks never met with the people we are fighting against, bad mouthed our soldiers, and allowed themselves to be used as a propaganda tool. They went to a country that was our ally, a country that had as much to lose as we did by invading Iraq. Also, (along with a lot of others), I don’t agree with Toby Keith either. He even admits that he doesn’t try to understand the issues that have divided our country, at least the Chicks have done their homework and know what they’re talking about. We all support the troops, and the Chicks said that in the same breath that they bashed Bush, but the media played that part way down, making the “Incident” much more sensational and controversial, which is important to the media you know. Again, we ALL support the troops, only some of us don’t think invading Iraq is worth the lives of American soldiers and some of us do. Therein lies the real conflict, was it worth the cost and the loss of life and will it be successful or turn into another Vietnam? Only time and history will tell us.

and for all you lesbian losers and anyone else who supports the dixie dumbies for what they said, should move with them.

DIXIE CHICKS ARE LOSERS. DIXIE CHICKS ARE TERRORISTS. DIXIE CHICKS ARE SELL-OUTS TO THEIR COUNTRY. DIXIE CHICKS ARE MUSLIMS. DIXIE CHICKS SUCK MULE PUS.
