Replace one Wichitan with another?

It has been great to have a Wichitan as the governor’s second — so great that Gov. Kathleen Sebelius should consider finding another south-central Kansan to be on her re-election ticket. You can’t begrudge Lt. Gov. John Moore his desire to retire rather than run again, so he can spend more time with his family as of January. A former Cessna Aircraft executive, Moore was deeply involved in economic development and important to the state’s successful effort to avoid any major military base closures, also spearheading Sebelius’ health care initiatives since 2004. One question: Will getting state support for Sedgwick County’s planned world-class technical training complex at Jabara Airport be harder without Moore’s help in Topeka? Let’s hope not. Of course, those who want a Wichitan in the lieutenant spot have another option this year: the GOP Barnett-Wagle ticket.

John Moore had no where else to go. She was not going to let me be her running mate again. He was demoted when she took him out of being the Secretary of Commerce and given a new title with a new position so that he could continue making $100,000 plus a year.

After all, it was the least she could do after all his help in redirecting all that money they scammed off the Tobacco industry.

Mr Moore needs to spend more time with his family? The Lt Governor’s only job to wait for the Governor to die or resign

Oh please, Moore didn’t resign, he was shoved. Kathleen wants to pick her sucessor. Politics, pure and simple.

A good way to save $100,000 plus benefits plus snacks would be to eliminate the Kansas Lt. Governor’s position. If needed, a failing or deceased governor could be replaced by one of our elected state department heads which themselves are a waste of taxpayers money.

In any case, I agree with Joe Blow, the governor is giving John Moore the boot so she can attempt to handpick her successor for the election in two years. Most likely her choice will be a prominent Kansas Democrat. Perhaps Jill Docking. Perhaps a Democrat from our Kansas senate or house of representatives. This choice should be very interesting to political watchers.

Heheh good catch Ben. Maybe she’s running for preznit?

John Moore spending more time with his family? Isnt that code for “I got the axe”? I mean, how bad do you have to BE to get removed early as the do-nothing head of the dept of commerce?

Like most business executives who claim to “know” economic development, the only thing he knows about industrial development is going out to dinner and shaking hands while staff does the real work.

Oh yeah, and he looks good in his suits while he signs the papers ACCEPTING tons of tax breaks to locate an aircraft business OUTSIDE of Wichita. Nice.

Heheh. If you want one of your own in the lite gov chair, why not run a non-wingnut against governor non-leadership? She could be beaten if you all could run a non-wingnut with a track record of achievement. You can find one of those, no?

Or would you prefer the rest of the state hold the lasting image of Wichita as the home of such hypocritical wingnuts as susan “I make my money from gambling but you cant vote on it” wagle? Or maybe Brenda “f bomb” Landwehr? Can you say hissyfit?

Culture of corruption. Culture of swearing. Culture of culture wars. Culture of non-achievement. Culture of obstruction.

What would susan stand for if she wasnt known as a “ginner”? You know the type, they are “agin” everything that might be part of the twentieth century. Luddite.

You must be ever so proud of your conservative delegation. Please, send another loser like moore or nut case like susan to topeka.

You would be a model of consistancy for the rest of the state. heheh.

Could someone (Rhonda) post exactly what moore DID in economic development? What he DID to prevent base closures? I mean, we know he wore a nice suit and was the chair of the task force and all, but…

WHAT DID HE ACTUALLY DO IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT?

He must have not done something to be removed as the head of Commerce! Nice track record. Sure, you want another one, just like him. Heheheh.

Plus, remember he left the GOP to become a democrat (lots of raised eyebrows when we got together to listen to him). He and K were big in the insurance racket together. This way, K will get a good democrat (I like the idea of Jill Docking) to replace a Quisling republican, and yes, that person would be in a good position to run for governor. Which is why I still like the idea of Jill Docking. Now if she will just lower her standards a little and move to Topeka for a couple of years at Lt.Gov. and wait her turn.
