As Gov. Kathleen Sebelius weighs her choices of a second-term running mate, she might be eyeing history, too. If she chooses a woman for the lieutenant governor spot and they win in November, “it would appear to be the first time in American history that an all-female ticket has won election at a state level,” Bob Beatty, Washburn University political science professor, told The Hutchinson News. The female name most mentioned since Lt. Gov. John Moore announced his retirement last week? Jill Docking (in photo), a Wichita Democrat who ran for the U.S. Senate in 1996.
Joe Aistrup, who chairs Kansas State University’s political science department, told the News the question is whether “Kansas is prepared to have two women on the top of the ticket. I don’t see why not.”

I am so ready!!! RUN JILL RUN!!! Make history, Kathleen. Pick Jill!!
Better yet… RUN JILL… grab the top spot.. and pick Kathleen as your running mate….
Trumped! The only person the Eagle loves more than John McCain? Jill Docking!
kansassam: Even better … RUN JILL, RUN … and send Kathleen packing back to Ohio. Sebelius has done nothing substantial for Kansas.
The “Run Jill Run” comments remind me of tasteless joke. New Yorkers (both parties) are alledgedly putting bumper stickers on their cars, encouraging Hillary to run.
Democrats put it on the back bumper…Republicans on the front. (rim shot…)
Anyway…I don’t see the big deal. If two women are qualified for the two jobs, so be it. Gender should not be the deciding factor.
I have no problems with Jill. She seems like a get-er-done type but Kathleen still leaves something to be desired. I’ll have to see what other options there are before deciding.
I’d rather see a new face or a ‘non-political’ one rather than someone from the past. Perhaps someone from the Wichita business community?
Like who, Ben?
I say pick Jill.
How about it Jill? What do you say? Surely you wouldn’t go for anything less than Governor, would you?
Don’t recall the name right now but the former Cessna exec who has been involved in the 21st Street development and training center.
Russ Meyer (I think). He had a Harvard education and a silver spoon background. I really liked him. He would be a good choice.
Is Russ Meyer a Democrat or Republican?
does it really matter if they do a good job if they are republican or democrat?
Kansasfrmgrrl for Lt Governor!!!!
Is that on the “Tater” Ticket?
Is Russ Meyer a Democrat or Republican?
I don’t know for sure. I assumed he was a Democrat. He started the Cessna training program on 21st street. Bill Clinton (in ‘98 or ‘99) came to town to help open it.
There ya go JM!
There is NO hope for that pro-wetback, anti-gun, broomstick riding hag! I doubt she will be re-elected Governor and she can kiss her “national aspirations” goodbye. I am sure though she will be well rewarded by the water wasters and wetback employers with a nice seat on a board and a boatload of stock options. Her treason doth prosper fo sho!!!!
viva La Raza Blanco!!!!
Wonderful, you all want another four years of the governor that supports illegals. She wanted to give them driver licenses (thank goodness she was stopped) then she wanted to give them in state tuition at our state colleges (this she succeeded on and it cost the state thousands of dollars every year). They cost the state thousands and thousands to have the illegals in our schools because they cannot speak English. The cost to the health care system is staggering. The governor did not want to help close the boarders to stop the influx of illegals because she wants them here to keep the state population up. She does not want to do anything to stop the illegal’s that are not paying taxes but they sure get the benefits. Also a lot of them are not spending the money they make here they are sending it back to Mexico. Some are sending it back to family and some are sending it back so that when they return to Mexico they can be one of the rich people. They are not putting the money back into the states economy. It has to stop!! We need a governor that will stop it.
Kind of like BOTH republican controlled house and senate in kansas stopped illegals?
I mean, they control both houses. How many illegal immigration related bills did the republicans pass and SEND TO the gov for her signature?
Zero?
None, nada, zip, bupkiss, ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So since you all moral republicans control both houses, I cant believe you didnt send ONE immigration related bill to her for her veto.
MISSED a great campaign issue, didnt ya? Heheh. In baseball, we’d say “caught ya lookin’”
Any plans for the future for the kansas republican controlled LEGISLATURE to deal with illegal immigration?
What plans?
Zero, zip, nada, bupkiss, ZERO? Maybe the kansas republican legislature will just use bush’s amnesty model.
heheh.
Heheh. Thanks walker, but I think kathleen would rather suck up to Doug Mays than look me in the eye, much less have me as a running mate.
She only sees the state west of Salina by private airplane. Not enough votes to actually LOOK at the water situation except from several thousand feet.
Kinda like her very own flyover country.
Besides walker, I used to be a real democrat.
Do you see any of them in governor leadership’s administration?
She’s the best republican governor we ever had.
