Don’t make support for democracy a casualty of war

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright argued in The Washington Post that opposition to the war in Iraq should not morph into opposition to democracy in the Middle East. She wrote:
“The ‘realists’ are right to bemoan the invasion of Iraq, but that misguided operation cannot be used to indict the promotion of democracy. The purpose of the invasion was to seize weapons that did not exist and to sever a connection between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda that had not been made. The failures were of leadership and intelligence, not a too-fervent commitment to democracy.”
Going forward, she advocates a foreign policy approach of “realistic idealism,” which recognizes the world as it is but at the same time aims for a better one.

Democracy is self expending, once there is a taste, a look then it flows in. It can not be imposed nor forced, that would take the Democracy out of it and make it a Dictatorship. Democracy lives not in the halls of Government but in the hearts of those living under it. A wise and gentle King who desires only the best for his subjects. Is still a King, he rules from his thrown and his subjects are still his subjects, they are not free to do anything but what one man feels is right.

A Democracy is the right of free people, it is not something give to others it is earn by others and freely share among those who have earned it. Otherwise it is of no values to those who have it.

Why on earth do these papers keep parading the same reminders of the people that helped to trash the democratic party beyond recognition? Next thing you know we’ll be getting the lessons of enlightenment according to Jocelyn Elders again.

I guess our mission after WWII to occupy both Japan and Germany was only to seize weapons.

Sorry Madeleine Albright, but you are on the wrong side of history and the equation on this one.

Even if there wasn’t any cashe of WMD’s or a strong connection to al-Qaeda, we at least prevented a serious sitution that would have had Saddam possessing WMD’s and a strong connection to al-Qaeda.

My only criticism of what Albright said here is that she perpetuates the myth that “poor intelligence” got us into Iraq. Not true. Poor leadership (insistent upon twisting intelligence) got us there.

Read this fascinating article “Blind into Baghdad: The Inside Story of a Historic Failure” (which originally appeared in the Atlantic Monthly – you have to pay to get it at that site – here you don’t):

Madeleine Albright is full of shit. She got that way by sucking to the G-d Zionist-Jews who she helped slave-trade while bleating-out the virtues of democracy. The Zionists racist bastards, she finds so endearing, even make laws { none enforceable against crime } against whomever certain Races and Religions can marry and where they must live.

Madeleine Albright, If you want to get all that shit off of you, then take a bath and make sure they’re are no Zionists in the tub with you.

Be sure to bring soap { but not the kind made from dead Palestinians }.

“The Jews got us into Baghdad, end of story.”

Sorry, Ed:George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld, and many of their minions got us into Iraq. Read the link above that I provided – it is all there.

From that article – this is Douglas Feith – Wolfowitz’a Wolfowitz:*********************************But mainly he challenged the premise of most critics: that the Administration could have done a better job of preparing for the consequences of victory. When I asked what had gone better than expected, and what had gone worse, he said, “We don’t exactly deal in ‘expectations.’ Expectations are too close to ‘predictions.’ We’re not comfortable with predictions. It is one of the big strategic premises of the work that we do.”

The limits of future knowledge, Feith said, were of special importance to Rumsfeld, “who is death to predictions.” “His big strategic theme is uncertainty,” Feith said. “The need to deal strategically with uncertainty. The inability to predict the future. The limits on our knowledge and the limits on our intelligence.”

In practice, Feith said, this meant being ready for whatever proved to be the situation in postwar Iraq. “You will not find a single piece of paper … If anybody ever went through all of our records—and someday some people will, presumably—nobody will find a single piece of paper that says, ‘Mr. Secretary or Mr. President, let us tell you what postwar Iraq is going to look like, and here is what we need plans for.’ If you tried that, you would get thrown out of Rumsfeld’s office so fast—if you ever went in there and said, ‘Let me tell you what something’s going to look like in the future,’ you wouldn’t get to your next sentence!”

    **********************************

So, to the dumb ass, and supposed graduate of Princeton University,Donald Rumsfeld, whether the sun will rise in the east tomorrow is baseless speculation. Sigh.

I see that the preffered method of yours is to simply call people names.

At least I rank up there with Donald Rumsfield!

Yes, you do rank up there with Rumsfeld. Some people carrying that distinction, would never show their face in public again.

I only call people names they deserve. Sorry you just don’t get. Living your life would have to be a burden.

Glad to provide you with that. Anybody who comes here to annoy people to amuse themselves surely must be hard up for entertainment. I would bet most Marines your age are more interested in going out with girls. But, you might just be different from that.

I remember when you said this earlier:**********************************The ediotors have shown through many of their blogs that they are more into the sensationalism tactics of what I would consdier to be poor blogging yet alone journalism.

Just as easily as you say what we are doing is based on our disagreement with their opinion your defense of them too is nothing more than your siding with someone who is saying something you agree with.

This is all nice and dandy. I want to talk about the facts.

At least you’re finally honest about your purposes. I have always been sure that your were here for “the facts” and “honest debate”. But I guess I must have been wrong.

ARE you anything but a troll?

It is clear that you never concede anything in debate. Your opponents have often given ground.

But to you I think that is vindication of your point, not received by you as it is offered an attempt at reaching common ground.

Is there room in your mind for any ideas that are not your own? And if not, debate with you is pointless.

DD promised to ignore me too. Won’t happen. These lying, name calling liberals need us on this BLOG. Without a conservative or two to pick on it would just be a bunch of whiney liberals holding a pity party and posting DNC bumper sticker sayings.

The number of posts per thread would be reduced to one or two people aggreeing with the WE editors and a few “great post” entries and then nothing.

    Dear JR,

I feel I must clear up a misconception in your mind. I did not apologize for lying about you. I apologized for my remarks that may have caused you pain and distress. The remarks when I wrote them were referring to a post that had been made by someone else. I did not lie, I made a mistake.

Even though I did not ask to be forgiven, you did. Do you still? In my little world one does not ask for forgiveness unless he is willing to make amends and promise not to offend again. In a private email I offered to make amends.
