The next national disaster might be brought to you not by terrorists or Mother Nature but by Democrats, warned Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., in a fundraising letter as head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Send money now, she advised, or the “most left-wing Democrat Party in history” might seize control of the Senate and “increase your taxes, call for endless investigations, congressional censure and maybe even impeachment of President Bush, put the war on terrorism on the back-burner” and “take over the White House in 2008!” Suppose the “be afraid” message will work? Tune in next November.

Duct tape? I thought only baseball bats were recommended.
The Repubs have been doing this number for some time: “fear those terrorist coddling Democrats”. I don’t think it is going to work this time. They are going to have to come up with something else. Like why we shouldn’t fear our Constitution-shredding Commander in Chief.
Ahh where do I begin?Send money now, she advised, or the “most left-wing Democrat Party in history” might seize control of the Senate and “increase your taxes“.For the last three years I had to pay in on top of what was already paid in which if the monkeys in Washington had not been monkeying with the federal tax code I would not have had to. Of course that was a “tax beak”, though 25 cent of every dollar is for taxes. They told the employers to only hold out 15 cents. Hurray there was 10 more cent in my pocket, of course I still owed that for taxes so I better not spend it! I will need to pay it for taxes that had been already withheld till I got that tax break.“Call for endless investigations, congressional censure and maybe even impeachment of President Bush, put the war on terrorism on the back-burner” and “take over the White House in 2008!”
Oh I have one person with a bulldozer in front of my house wanting to level it, there is another who said he plans on bombing my house if he get the chance. Who do I think is a bigger threat to my home? It truly is a sad day when the President of the United States is perceived as a bigger threat to the safety of this country that the terrorists. When the President seem bound to destroy the core of what makes this country great.
This sound more the reason TO vote Democrat, it makes me wonder what nation these people live in that they seem clueless as to the way the public is perceiving the Republican party. Or how they perceive the American public? What do they think Bush’s poll numbers are down because we do not like the way he parts his hair? No it is that everyday more are awakening to the fact he lied us into an invasion. That it was Bush and company that put the fight on terrorism on the back burner. That he feels above the law and the Constitution. God I feel like I should put on a tinfoil hat to even express this thought. But today I actually wondered about is there a sick version of “Wag the dog” going on? I know others have danced around this, but stop for a moment and consider, yes it appears that Bush&Co. had used 9-11 as an excuse to go after Saddam. BUT key members of the Bush administration are also card carrying members of the PNAC that is a fact. One of the PNAC stated objectives is to have America in a constant state of war. This war ( hello Ed I am will you now) will mean the death of millions of people. (here we go!) WHAT would the death of over three thousand people mean to them? If it would get them to their stated goal! It would explain quite a number of things that this administration has done and plans to do.
I have to go back to work now….
Wonder what the Democrats “fundraising letters” look like.
Probably reflecting the same fear about Republicans.
“Send money now. The Republicans are eating your babies” “They are turning this nation into a facist state” etc.
Elizabeth Dole is a dangerous idiot. She has had many different positions, including NHTSA and the Red Cross, and she was incapable at all of them. Once again she is proving her total incompetence.
Yet…for some reason..people keep putting her in positions of responsibility. This is beyond comprehension.
I know that Mrs. Dole is like the exotic Spanish queen* of Kansas, but this whole “the Dems are coming” meme comes from Karl Rove, not Liz Dole.
“Rove Is Using Threat of Loss to Stir G.O.P.”
From the article:
The prospect of Democrats capturing either [house of Congress], however, may be one of the best weapons Mr. Rove has as he turns to what he has traditionally done best: motivating his party’s conservative base to turn out on Election Day.
Heading into the election, many conservatives are disheartened by the war in Iraq, upset at what they see as a White House tolerance for bigger government and escalating federal spending, and divided over issues like immigration. The abrupt resignation on Friday of the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Porter J. Goss, promised to feed the impression of an administration that is off balance.
But White House and Republican officials, trying to turn vulnerability to advantage, say conservatives could be united and re-energized by the possibility that Democrats could put Mr. Bush and his policies on political trial by winning control of even one chamber of Congress.

*–She’s North Carolinian but one of the most popular queeens of England was Catherine of Aragon, or in Spanish Catalina de Aragon, Henry VIII’s first wife.
Gee, shocker. Dems don’t send fundraising letters this this at all!
It’s really just sad, isn’t it?
I can remember when the Doles were good examples of common-sense statesmanship.
Now, they’re just attack-dogs like all the rest of them.
What Dole says is not only alarmist, it is not even factually true. The current crop of Democrats is by far the most conservative we’ve had in decades.
Look at Clinton/Gore’s push for NAFTA, their insistence on balancing the budget and paying down the debt, their constant deal-making (”triangulation”) with the right-wing.
This is not the party that brought you the minimum wage, the five day work week and Social Security. This is the go-along-to-get along party, and as a result, they give the working class and the working poor absolutely nothing to vote for.
Hence, right-wing domination.
The Republicans can’t run on a record of accomplishment. It’s a record of demolition.
So they will run on fear. Count on OBL making another taped appearance late in October, with some stern anti-American hyperbole.
And don’t discount the ability of Karl Rove to steal elections. He’s done it before.
The real question before Democrats is will they do their homework on fear and on voter fraud.
Maybe Bob’s Viagra isn’t working anymore. Maybe she needs to go out and get a B.O.B. (battery operated boyfriend) before Kansas makes them illegal.
I’d like to see the whole text of Libbys letter. She can’t go 3 words without throwing in a “praise God” when she speaks. I wonder if she is evoking the almighty in her little sky is falling missive to the minions.
But we must remember that the letter IS to those with interest vested enough in GOP control to pony up financial support. So maybe her little plea is relevant….to them. For the base of the GOP life is about to get VERY unpleasant!
I can’t wait!
So the next disaster will be brought by the democrats? Seems only fair, considering the extensive list of the ones the republicans brought us!
Thanks, Brian, hehe! The enormity of the crisis was hitting me, and I needed the comic relief!
JJ: “The real question before Democrats is will they do their homework on fear and on voter fraud.”
Indeed. Perhaps the Rovian slogan should be “Just TRY to vote us out!”
“But White House and Republican officials, trying to turn vulnerability to advantage,”
This line reminded me of (perhaps) something entirely different. Karl Rove’s strategy is to ignore obvious weaknessness anyone can see, and go after the opposition’s perceived strengths (e.g. Swift Boats against Kerry’s Purple Hearts).
Look at whatever is played up as most appealing in the challengers to be perversely attacked. When you can’t convince, confuse.
Fear and smear… a Republican platform so simple, anyone can understand it!
No Joe…we don’t live in the past like Republicans do.We use email.
I don’t remember BOB Dole saying extremist stuff like his wife. Maybe he should become a fundamentalist Christian Kansan and make Libby spend her days cooking and housecleaning. ;-)
Things may not be all that rosy in the Dole household. Libby and Bob don’t see eye to eye on some things.
Anybody remember Dole’s off-camera remark on CNN some time ago? Here’s what Slate said about it and a link to the video.
–Of McCain’s charge to President Bush during a 2000 debate—”You should be ashamed”—Dole told Wolf Blitzer, “He was right.” Dole made the remark off-air, while CNN broadcast a portion of McCain’s 2000 debate remarks. The Kerry campaign had been using the debate footage in an ad called “Old Tricks” but stopped airing it recently at McCain’s request.–

Now, they’re just attack-dogs like all the rest of them. -LeftHook
Actually they are lap dogs. They do what they are told and karl pats them on the head and says “Good Girl (or boy)” and if they are lucky they may get a treat.
“Wonder what the Democrats “fundraising letters” look like.
Probably reflecting the same fear about Republicans.
“Send money now. The Republicans are eating your babies” “They are turning this nation into a facist state” etc. ” -Joe Williams
And yet another fine example of the ignorance of the repuks. Actually joe the Democrats fund raising letters don’t need fear mongering to raise funds. They have the preznit ’s and the repuke controlled Congress’s track record of incompetence can corporate welfare (amongst many other things) to cite. And if they wanted to fear monger all they would have to do is…..drum roll please…..cite the current administrations track record. Preznit Bed Wetter has done his best to raise fear in those of us who love the United States and the Constitution.
The christian Taliban should fear November, that is when we kick them out and take back our country!
There’s nothing wrong with following the four Gospels. The problem is, the self-proclaimed “Christian Right” doesn’t. Like, uhm, when you are struck, turn the other cheek. Treat others as you would want to be treated. It is harder for a rich man to pass into heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.
“The real question before Democrats is will they do their homework on fear and on voter fraud.”
No, I think the real question is whether they want to win. If they do, they are gonna hafta get their hands dirty and not just whine that the republicans are fighting dirty.
Smackdown. It is the only thing the republicans understand and apparantly the only thing voters understand as well.
Had enough? Then prove it. Otherwise, we get the nation we deserve.
fewer and fewer conservatives are willing to back Bush. Forty-five percent of self-described conservatives disapprove of him, and 65 percent of conservatives disapprove of the Republican-controlled Congress. You can bet this means Karl Rove will be pulling out all the stops for the midterm elections.
The best use the demorats could make of duct tape would be to affix it to their mouths to prevent stupid things being said. the repukes are self destructing and if the dems were smart they would just stay out of the way. Mind you, the demorats are not very smart so I expect that they will again shoot themselves in their collective backsides! rotflmosrfao
viva La Revolucion Blanco!!!
Stupid demorats just wouldn’t heed my sage advice, oh well! ain’t our jew party system just grand? rotflmosrfao

Print Friendly VersionForward this PageE-mail NewsMaxRSS FeedReprint InformationDean: We Oppose Gay Marriage, TooDow Plunges Almost 120 PointsValerie Plame’s Book Deal QuestionedGeorge Will Assails Sen. McCainSen. Santorum Slips in Pa. Senate PollDemocratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean has angered supporters in the gay and lesbian community by stating that his party opposes gay marriage.
Appearing on the Christian Broadcasting Network’s program “The 700 Club” on Wednesday, Dean declared: “The Democratic Party platform from 2004 says that marriage is between a man and a woman. That’s what it says. I think where we may take exception with some religious leaders is that we believe in inclusion, that everybody deserves to live with dignity and respect, and that equal rights under the law are important.”
Dean, however, “misrepresented” the party platform, according to the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, which has returned a $5,000 contribution from the Democratic Party in a protest over Dean’s remarks.
According to the blog PageOneQ, the Democratic Party’s actual platform reads: “We support full inclusion of gay and lesbian families in the life of our nation and seek equal responsibilities, benefits and protection for these families. In our country, marriage has been defined at the state level for 200 years, and we believe it should continue to be defined there. We repudiate President Bush’s divisive effort to politicize the Constitution by pursuing a ‘Federal Marriage Amendment.’”
The Task Force’s executive director Matt Foreman said in a statement: “Governor Dean is wrong about what the Democratic platform says about marriage equality. Disturbingly, this is not the first time he has misrepresented this important and affirming plank, and he has been asked before to correct the record and to cease making these misleading statements.”
In an effort to drum up support in the Christian community before the 2006 midterm elections, Dean also stated on the show: “One of the misconceptions about the Democratic Party is that we’re godless and that we don’t have any values.
“The truth is, we have an enormous amount in common with the Christian community, and particularly with the evangelical Christian community.
“One of the biggest things that Democrats worry about is the materialism of our country, what’s on television that our kids are seeing, and the lack of spirituality. And that’s something we have in common.”
Dean even tried to downplay the Democratic Party’s traditional strong pro-choice stance, saying: “I think what we have in common with the evangelical community is that we ought to have a lot fewer abortions than we do. The abortions have actually gone up in the last few years. We should have far fewer abortions … we ought to make sure that there’s not just abstinence, but family planning used to get rid of abortion, and that is something that we share.”
Asked if it is important for Democrats to tap into the evangelical community to win in 2006, he responded: “I think it’s important, and I think it’s a good idea for the Democratic Party.” But if Dean’s comments were designed to garner support from evangelicals, they no doubt alienated many in the gay and lesbian community.
In his statement, Foreman said: “Governor Dean’s record on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues since becoming DNC chair has been sorely and sadly lacking.
“In light of Governor Dean’s pandering and insulting interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, we have decided to return the DNC’s recent $5,000 contribution to us.”http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/5/11/94300.shtml?s=lh
Viva La Revolucion Blanco!!!
“Gay” is a “made-up term” to try to take the disgust out of homosexuals.
{ like the unpatriotic Patriot Act }
bumpity, bump, bump,
I would like to hear KFG’s take on the Deaniac’s latest statement. :)
V.L.R.B!!!
Since gay marriage now has higher approval ratings than preznit bush, the dems might want to stop pandering to the christian taliban.
Gee Ian, do you think there is a reason I am no longer a democrat?
I tire of people here saying I am. Read my posts.
Of all the jackasses running the party, I have generally liked Dean. I guess that is no longer going to happen.
Like the democrats care about gay people… I think we have seen the truth, so if anyone is using that as an excuse to vote repub, it is a really bad excuse.
I have said here before “what difference does it make WHICH party we support if they hate us equally?”
More republicans in the kansas legislature voted AGAINST the hate amendment than democrats.
Hate seems to be a family value in both parties.
…but no matter how bad the democrats are, the repukes are worse. And now they are losing the “values” voters too?
Exactly how many rats can jump off a ship at one time?
“Fifty percent said Democrats came closer than Republicans to sharing their moral values, compared with 37 percent who said Republicans shared their values.
A majority said Republican members of Congress were more likely to be financially corrupt than Democratic members of Congress, suggesting that Democrats may be making headway in their efforts to portray Republicans as having created a “culture of corruption” in Washington.
By better than two to one, Democrats were seen as having more new ideas than Republicans.”
Cant wait for the new WE values guru to weigh in on this?
Wonder if they will add a new columnist to balance out the values man? I doubt it.
Howard Dean is working really hard to lose part of his base when the democrats can hardly afford to lose anyone. I guess we may have to teach him the “we can stay home” lesson too.
“Disturbingly, this is not the first time he has misrepresented this important and affirming plank, and he has been asked before to correct the record and to cease making these misleading statements,” said Matt Foreman, the executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
“In light of Governor Dean’s pandering and insulting interview today with the Christian Broadcasting Network, we have decided to return the DNC’s recent $5,000 contribution to us,” Foreman added.
Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese added, “Gov. Dean’s comments weren’t a mere slip of the tongue but a glaring reminder of the governor’s lack of leadership on this issue.”

Vichy dems, vichy queers, money talks and the truth walks.
Wow. $5000.
Hell, the republicans would have given us THAT much to go away….
