Border control only part of needed immigration reform

President Bush reportedly plans to use his speech to the nation tonight to announce that he’s sending perhaps 10,000 National Guard troops to the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexican border to help the Border Patrol curb the flow of illegal immigrants. This surely will play well with voters of all political perspectives, especially with the conservatives in his own party who support deporting all 12 million undocumented residents. But do Americans really want to see the U.S. border effectively militarized and the National Guard federalized? Aren’t these patriots, many of whom have done multiple tours in Iraq, due some time at home?
The hope also is that Bush won’t shy away in his speech from the other, more tricky part of comprehensive immigration reform — what to do about those who are here contributing to the U.S. economy, paying taxes and bettering their lives.

Sorry for the screw up about the picnic gster. We all look forward to meeting our “headlines” guy.

Bush is gonna send the National Guard to the border? So what. Probably they will go help the border patrol identify the locations of the minute men and inform the illegals.

This will be nothing new. We will hear the words “jobs American’s won’t do” “global economy” “matching willing workers with willing employers”…..etc. etc. Might get a new bushism out of it but that’s about all.

Ya know, I went to the store 2 weeks ago, when the protesters decided that they needed to take the day off from work and school to protest the change in immigration laws.

The sky didn’t fall, the earth didn’t rotate off it’s axis, and we weren’t plagued with a swarm of locust. What I did notice is that I didn’t have to listen to mind numbing jibberish in foreign languages and the person that checked me out spoke english. The stores were full and I have yet to hear anything from any of the stores saying that the absence of these individuals actually put a cramp on the sales for that day.Bush wants to put the national guard at the border. GOOD. Do I think that it will solve the problem? No. Not in itself. But this is a step in the right direction. There needs to be other action taken such as enforcing the laws that are in effect for fining employers that hire illegal aliens. No they are not immigrants, immigrants are here legally, they are aliens. There needs to be toughter laws put in place. Bush said that he wants to raise the fine for employers who are found hiring aliens up to $250,000.00 per employee that is not a citizen. If you take the jobs away then the aliens have little reason to come here. As it stands there is not enough manpower to patrol the borders and to keep the illegals out. We need to rememeber that it’s not just the Mexican nationals that we have to worry about, but other terrorist that can come up thru Mexico and cross illegally thru an unprotected border.

“Think of all the “mind-numbing gibberish” they have to listen to when they get here!”

That’s true, but if you or I go to a foreign country we expect to listen to their language. And if you wish to communicate then you had better learn their language or get a book to help you with it. These people expect for us to cater to them. And until we get a national language it will do nothing but get worse. We can’t demand these people learn our language when no national language is in place. How well do you think it would go over for you or I to go to Russia and tell them that they need to hire police, teachers, food service workers, etc. that speak english just so that We can be served. I think that THAT is one of the things that irks most americans, including me, and that makes most of us long for immigration reform. I am SO tired of these people yelling and screaming for rights that no other country in the world would think about giving them. Hell, lets go to Mexico and tell the president down there that he needs to give us the same rights that his people are asking for up here and see if we can get out of the country without being shot. Mexican nationals will not protest the government buildings of Mexico because they know if they do that they will be shot or thrown in prison. But they WILL protest outside of the U.S. consulate building in Mexico demanding rights for themselves in the U.S.

As far hang glide dealerships, let them fly over, we can take the hotdog gun that they use at the football and baseball games, fill them up with burritos and shoot them down as they try to fly over.

I would hope for us all that the change in the immigration laws are a valid attempt by Bush to quell the influx of illigal aliens and terrorist from just skipping across the border anytime they like. I would like to think that his statement about the border patrl being temporary is nothing more than a bottle of tequila with a nipple on it. But as long as the border patrol stays on our side of the fence and protects the interest of the United States then I could care less what President Fox has to say. He is just worried that all of his drug traffickers will now get caught up in the snare. I think Bush needs to tell him to go get wobbled by a big ‘ol burro dick and worry about his side of the fence.

I can carry on a private conversation anywhere I go without having to speak in a foreign language. It’s called volume control. I keep my conversations quiet because I talk in a tone that is courteous to other people. I don’t raise my voice and talk so loud that other poeple can easily overhear what I say. If they want to have a private conversation then they need to lower their voices, I don’t want to hear their dribble in spanish or english or any other language for that matter.

If they choose to live here then they need to learn to speak the language.

This reminds me of the french student that was shot and killed by the police in Florida. He was a student at one of the collages in Florida. He was drunk, it was raining hard outside, it was the middle of the night, and he was standing in the dark doorway of an apartment that was down the block from his own home, trying to get in the door. The homeowner called the police and told them that someone was trying to break into their house. The police responded, saw the guy in the dark doorway with his hands in his pockets. After several repeated warnings to take his hands out of his pockets and come down off of the porch, he pulled an object out of his pocket, pointed it at the police and fearing that it was a gun, the police shot him.

They later guessed that he was trying to get into what he thought was his own home, he was just a block off and being so drunk he didn’t realize it.

He had been a student at the collage for about 3 yeas but never took the initiative to learn english because he was able to take his classes in French. His family said it was easier that way.

    Now the kicker……

The object in his hand…his cell phone. He pointed it at the police, it being dark, rainy, he had a beligerent attitude, the police couldn’t tell what it was so they defended themselves. His lack if initiative to learn english killed him.

    Kicker 2…..

His family sued the City in Florida, the Police Depatment, the Police Officer and everybody else that they could think of stating that it was the State and the City’s responsability to hire and train their officers to be proficient in several different languages. They won a settlement and now, because of this, officers have to be biligual or even trilingual in order for them to get a job. And those hired before the new rule went into effect have to take language courses.

Do you realize that in California, if you want to work at McDonalds you have to be able to speak spanish. MCDONALDS. How stupid is that.

You want to know what bush SHOULD say tonight?

My fellow Americans. For too long now, the government of Mexico has badly failed its people. This causes them to flee to the United States. This in turn subverts the wages and working conditions of Americans in low skill entry level jobs.

Tonight, I announce that I am holding President Vincente Fox of Mexico personally responsible for the failure of his goverment to serve its people. I am closing the border with Mexico until further notice. Further, citizens of Mexico found to be in the United States will be immedialtely repatriated.

I am informing President Fox that he has one year to solve the problems of corruption in Mexicos government. Failing that, The United States will act to remove President Fox and the entire Mexican government from power.

The United States can no longer be the outlet and the mitigating factor that continues to perpetuate the failed Mexican government. They must fix their government, or we will be forced to do it for them.

That is what he SHOULD say.

    Aint never gonna happen.

Mcdonalds customer base is anybody that is hungry and drives by and sees the golden arches. The only thing that they are doing is supplying a crutch to the immigrants that come into this country and demand that people cater to them. Its like letting the 35 year old son mooch off of mom and dad instead of doing the tough love thing and making him get a job and support himself. Why should I have to learn a different language to order something in my own country. It has gotten to the point that even here in town that I can’t order food at a fast food restaurant without struggling to understand the person taking my order or listening to the employees shout back and forth at each other in a foreign language. I refuse to do it anymore. I demand an english speaking person to help me with my order and I wait until they can find me one. I refuse to listen to the middle easterner, or hospanic, or vietnamese person on the other end of the phone when I call customer service for my phone bill,or electricity bill, or anything else for that matter. As soon as I hear the accent I demand and english speaking person. I am not going to give myself a headache trying to understand what they are trying to say because they can’t speak properly. Like I stated on my initial blog, it was nice not having to deal with all of that. I was elated to deal with an english speaking person on the day that they all decided to protest and stay home. Hell I wish they would do it everyday. If that is what I have to look forward to when the immigration reform and the deportation of thousands of illegal aliens takes place then HALLELUHAH I can’t wait for that day to come. Cudos to the business owner that fired the employees who took off that day to show support for the protest. He warned them not to take off. They wanted to show how valuable they were to everybody. So he fired them to show them how valuable their job was to them. Now if we could get 10,000 other business owners to do just that then maybe they would think twice about it. I think that the first people to show up at the rally points should have been the INS officers.

He doesn’t have to threaten the Mexican government to end the problem in one easy step. All he has to do is say, “Effective immediately, all employeers hiring illegal aliens will face 1 year in prison for every single illegal they employee, the cost of returning them to their point of departure, and restitution equal to one year’s wages of the average American citizen, to cover the administrative, judicial and enforcement costs. No troops, no wall, no nothing other than currently employeed INS and Border patrol, with orders to enforce the law.The problem will end almost overnight and you don’t have to deport a soul. They will simply leave and employeer’s will once again pay a living wage.

Sorry Sooory, the problem with your solution (one I had thought about, too) is that it would have a chilling effect on the hiring of anyone who looked hispanic. Not a good thing.

Listened to Bush’s speech tonight. He sounded like a president who was wanting to enact useful policy – In short, he sounded like someone interested in governing – in other words “presidential”. I would be impressed, but I know he doesn’t have the ability to do any of the preceding.

I’d be for penalizing employers too. Thing is that has decreased DRAMATICALLY under bush.

Part of his base wants that cheap labor. And with tonights speech and “answers” he demonstrated that he is not about to disappoint them.

DD enforcement on employers would not necessarily “have a chilling effect on the hiring of anyone looking hispanic.” Such folks who are here legally would not have a problem proving it. And I am sorry but it is hispanics that are the problem here.

But it aint gonna change. What you got here is a half hearted effort to address the issue. This will be followed soon by admitting that the problem just cannot be solved and amnesty is the only answer.

  40. You'll be sooory!
    Posted May 15, 2006 at 7:48 pm | Permalink

No it wouldn’t darwin. It would have no effect on hiring hispanics at all. That garbage about employeers not knowing they are hiring illegals is total crap. They know almost immediately if the SSN they provide is a valid one. The social security administration advises them within a couple of days if they submit an invalid number, and if it is a stolen number, the employeer has built in documentation in the illegals own handwritting that the number he gave was actually identity theft.Bush’s excuse that fraudulent documents prevented employeers from knowing who they are hiring is nothing more than a dodge so the employeer can’t be held responsible. Kind of funny that all of a sudden they cant tell if they are illgeal, when this is exactly how they caught them in the 70’s and 80’s when employeer’s were actually prosecuted for this sort of crime. Nothing has changed, except for the corporate lobby that greased enough palms to look the other way.His speech was nothing more than a sales pitch to: A)justify sending his corporate donors more taxpayer money on unnessary high tech equipment. B) Make people believe that Amnisty is not Amnisty and C)over shadow the true numbers of how many illegals the senate bill is really designed to flood the American labor pool with. It was mindboggling.

Where were the possees that rounded up the undocumented Irish and Italian immigrants? Are the anti-Hispanic Angry White Men so afraid of us that they make it a point to alienate every person of Hispanic descent presently living in this country? Proof of the Anglo government specifically targetting Hispanics is that all illegal alien rhetoric specifically concerns Mexican illegal aliens. It is true that Mexicans make up +60% of illegal aliens in the U.S. but what about the other 40%? When have you heard any particular television, radio broadcast or newspaper article concerning the other 40% of illegal aliens who are not Mexicans? Does any anti-immigration public official say anything about stopping illegal immigrants from eastern Europe or Asia? NO! You only hear MEXICANS!

This is not about the legal status of immigrants, this is about the innate racism of the Angry White Men who seem to think that Hispanics are becoming too many and as such their numbers must be decreased, so the Angry White Men get their Angry White Government to give the people whove been doing backbreaking work for sub-human wages resulting in massive profits for their Big Business White Men, the boot! Anyone who believes that today’s issue of “illegal immigration” is not about race, is either an ignorant fool who knows nothing of human nature, or he’s one of those Angry White Men who seem to think that freedom and prosperity are the sole use and abuse for whites only.

I do not blame the general Anglo American public for being so fixated on illegal immigrants (= Mexicans according to FUX News). I do not blame them for failing to realize that they are again being duped by their Angry White Media, for it is blatantly evident that the double standards between white people and minorties has still yet to be overcome. The American media is equivocating illegal aliens with Mexicans in general and is turning a blind eye to the millions of illegal immigrants from other coutnries by proposing bills that only penalize Mexican immigrants while doing nothing about non-Mexican immigrants. When you listen to these anti-immigrant people, it becomes clear that they are ONLY talking about Mexicans especially when they talk about deporting all illegal aliens SOUTH OF THE BORDER. Now for you not so intelligent people, if they were talking about ALL illegal aliens, why do they say that ALL of them should be deported TO MEXICO?? What about the European and Asian illegal aliens? Oh that’s right, we’re only concerned with MEXICAN immigrants, because the Angry White Men are scared of us because in their bigoted minds, all Hispancs = Mexican. Since too many Hispanics are in this country, then they propose for massive unrealistic deportations and demand that it be carried out. Of course, the Angry White Men are only thinking of Mexicans that is why they say that ALL illegal aliens should be deported to Mexico.

    I rest my case.

and concerning Vicente Fox and his increasingly negative image by the American media, I would like to point out that the Native Americans must not have had a high opinion of king George of England when he basically deported his unwanted people to their lands. It is of the utmost hypocrisy that Americans, who for more or less are descendants of these poor unwanted people are turning a blind eye to another unfortunate people who seek freedom and prosperity from an overtly tyrannical government like Mexico.

Isn’t there a “Santa Anna” wind? I think that is a meteorlogical term I could be wrong.

Either way, it is clearly blowing in here!

But hey, I don’t blame the ignorant Angry White men either! This is their country and they should feel free to do whatever they want with it. My only complaint is that they are not forthcoming with their xenophobia and “beat around the bush” with their true feelings towards us. Neither do I blame the marionette minorities who believe that they and their darkskinned children will not be treated as lower class citizens by the Angry White Men. So no, I do not blame America, because it would be an exercise in futility. After all, you can’t blame a gullable barbarian for being a gullable barbarian anymore than you can blame a dog for being a dog! Americans are still number one over everyone else at playing follow-the-leader.

Hahaha! I see the Angry White Men are beginning to accost me now! At least give the world community the decency of displaying your xenophobia directly rather than resorting to your double-talk. Apparently none of you are smart enough to question why the immigration issue came up just recently. Were you oblivious to the fact that illegal aliens have been coming from Mexico since the 1950s? Obviously the Angry White Men knew about that, but it is only recently that they bitch about it because after getting fat off of our sweat and blood they grow afraid of us because they found out there were “too many” of us. So please save your arguments because behind all your rationalizations lingers the fear that your daughters just might take a Mexican as her partner, or that we are somehow going to take your jobs and leave you homeless. (by the way, if you lose your job to someone who doesnt even speak English, you might wanna slap yourself cuz you may be a retard!) Or maybe you’re scared about your country club being populated by us, or that (gasp!) your children learn Spanish! (Oh the horror!) You know what I think? I think you Angry White Boys just have a severe case of penis envy.(don’t worry, i’ll keep it between the two of us)

JR and Gster-Heneral Rant n Rave reminds me of my Chihuahua. He acts all tough and barks real loud but when the bunny rabbits come out to play he runs back on the porch and gets behind me and whimpers oh so pitifully.Herr Heneral RnR is trying to engage in a pissin’ contest and all he’s managing to succeed in is peeing in his own shoes.Let the little one hear the sound of his mighty voice from the safety of his own front porch (If you can’t run with the big dogs…)

Sorry Sooory,The above is an empirical question; I think my prediction of it having a decided effect upon the hiring of legal hispanics is closer to the truth of what would happen, than yours. But we will have to wait and see, however.

Folks like the general can be fun to play with. YOu can have an awful lot of fun at their expense. They even seem to enjoy being smacked around. Probably we should ignore them.

I got a feeling I know this guy. And he is not far from his usual style, even if he does have a dif nic. And if I’m right then yeah gster this guy does have other issues.

Textarrhea:1) an extreme case of blog farting. 2) the posts of one suffering from textarrhea

Well off topic first a bit gster.

Are you new to blogging? I know you are fairly new here. You just kinds jumped in on us and probably didn’t get the welcome we usually extend.

I got my suspicions about the general. His style is reminiscent of another poster here.

The word that applies best is troll. A troll posts blogfarts or other outrageousness just to get other posters riled up and get themself noticed. So the general may or may not be anything like what he is ranting at. What he posts IS something like what SOME illegal immigrants think. That is about the only thing that makes him even worth posting.

But no, he is not necessarily by any means what he appears to be. That he is so over the top would lead me to suspect he is not much at all like what he is acting like.

GSA (funny your initials represent an American government agency),

In the first place, not all American people are xenophobic, just the ones who hate Mexicans, Jews, blacks, Indians, Arabs, Eskimos, little green men, little orange men, little blue men, and/or last, but not least, morons posing as intellectual maggots telling everyone who reads their bloviated ramblings that the reader is a xenophobe.

You are certainly a discredit to your supposed race. You offer up nothing but hate and BS. What is there about the fact that your country sold us parts of your country that you don’t, or are unable to, understand? They SOLD it, moron. We BOUGHT it. They can’t even take care of their own country now, and you want the parts we BOUGHT back? Damn, you are one stupid Mexican. You’ve been throwing out the Tequila and eating the worm all along, ain’t you?

You want justice for the Mexican people? Get your countries act together. Why do your people come here in the first place? Because your country is filled with power hungry maggots running backwoods, crooked, so-called political offices that could care less about its people. If your country wanted to, they could make it a great country in which its people would have no need to go to another country to earn a living.

But it ain’t going to happen, is it? It ain’t going to happen because morons such as you don’t have the brains to see where the real problem lies. As I said in an earlier post: Either go back to Mexico and do it some good, or BUY a green card and get a real job.

Hell, you might even get a job as a stand up comic, because no one could take you seriously.

I remember after 911 when he said: ” we ill bring justice to those responsible or we will bring them to justice”.

The only justice we have is Haliburton oil company getting paid 325 billion dollars to rebuild sand dunes in Iraq. Does Cheny care? Whay is gasoline so high. Where is our energy independance plan. God bless our king! You have to believe in something!

Generalissimo Troll, the statement above doesn’t include Texas. See, about 170 years or so, Texans kicked your forefather’s asses and took a big chunk of the Mexican state Coahulia. They didn’t buy it, they won it.

I’m betting that those good old Texas boys intend to keep it.

Bring your “Atzlanian” friends to Austin and share your opinion and a couple of beers. I can suggest a couple of bars….

Gen,”Why does everyone seem to think that Islamic terrorists are coming from Mexico? It’s funny to see how the ignorant American public is so easily misinformed and then embraces the lies of the Anglo government! The concentrated Muslim populations are located in Canada. There aren’t any Muslims in Mexico!!!

Isn’t it obvious? Same reason we went after Al Qaida in Iraq! It was the easier target.

Regarding all you who want immigrants to arrive speaking English, many of you, right up to your president, could certainly use a refresher course!

    My gentle gringos,

You bore me with your typical brainwashed Anglo rhetoric. You want to tell me about being here legally? The Anglo government only drafts constitutions and treatises to ease their own guilt about committing mass-genocide! They must justify the wanton destruction, chaos, and misery that they have spread throughout North America and the world! Yes, even today you do the same things, sending your troops to fight wars for petty reasons to ingratiate yourselves in your insatiable Anglo bloodlust! Thats why you invade countries and set-up puppet governments to act in favor of your Anglo interests. Within the span of your country’s 230 year existence how many countries have your armies invaded? How many people had to die to feed the American war machine? You make war with the world, then you are shocked to learn how much people hate you! You have dug your own pit, a quagmire from which there is no escape! Your wealth is comparable to the house of Nero, fat with the spoils of other nations all displayed in obscene quantities of wealth! Your country is a curse! It is a blight upon the world. The American Empire is far decadent and mightier than the British Empire that gave birth to it! You and your children will pay for spilling the blood of countless multitudes of men women and children! May your country consume itself in it’s own blood and feces!!!
