At least the cash didn’t get freezer burn

The FBI appears to have caught Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., cold. Court papers released Sunday accuse Jefferson of accepting bribes from iGate Inc., a Kentucky high-tech company. Investigators videotaped a meeting last July in which Jefferson allegedly received a briefcase containing $100,000 in $100 bills, The New York Times reported. The FBI reportedly then found $90,000 of that money in the freezer of Jefferson’s Washington, D.C., home in “various frozen food containers and wrapped in aluminum foil.”
This bribery charge has been expected for months. What I’m still waiting for are some indictments related to Jack Abramoff and his associates, who reportedly were singing to authorities about their contacts with other members of Congress.

Proof that no party has a lock on criminal behavior. I agree again with a post by KFG a while back:

Well, if power doesn’t corrupt, at least it attracts the corruptable. Unfortunately, we have to invest somebody with at least some power for government to be effective, so some corruption will probably always be with us.Corruption grows best in the dark, so our only way to fight it is to make government’s and business’s decisionmaking process as visible as possible.

    Joe Williams,

Really? So, who else in the party is implicated? And how are the profits from Jefferson’s influence-peddling / bribery being distributed among other elected official and candidates, and used to make an entire party vote as a bloc in the House?

Sorry to make you use your brain, Joe Williams.

Worst. Congressman. Ever. All Democrats are EVIL Robbers! It’s incredibly racist they’re going after a BLACK Congressman! Heavens to Mergatroid! Sky is falling. I’m doing the best I can, Captain, the crystals are about to blow!

There, that’s my best hyperventilating, “What Joe Blow would be like if he were a lib” post.

How about your best attempt at something more than a blogfart? You know, something along the lines of what Joe would Blow if anyone regarded him as remotely relevant?

Oh boy! Can I try one too Joe?

This goes to show you just how corrupt those liars are in the democratic party.

I wondered why they constantly accuse Bush of wrong doing. Now I know it was to keep the spot light off of them and their dirty schemes. While they are investigating Bush they wont have time to see all the actual corruption happening by the democrats.

I want to see a resignation! I want to see the liberals cry for this guy to be removed or censured!

If he is guilty, throw the book at him. Maybe he can share a cell with Duke Cunningham, Tom Delay, Bob Ney, Katherine Harris, Jack Abramhoff, Ralph Reed, etc.

    Culture of corruption indeed.

Do either of the joe’s want to post the score of indictments by party this year? Come on, you can do it. We are waiting.

Please. Post the party corruption tally.

Very interesting political perspective advanced by Marilyn Vos Savant in Sunday’s Parade magazine. Not advocating her position, but it is noteworthy.

She (who happens to have the world’s highest recorded IQ) commented on how alike the two political parties are—saying they are more alike than they are different.

As proof, she points to the ease of transition of power from one party to another. From a world wide perspective, I suppose this thought has merit, that both parties are remarkably similar.

At least they both have their share of crooks…

    DON’T RE-ELECT ANYONE!!

Ok, I’m out of time out now. I’ve been playing on other threads :)I think that this just shows that one political party doesn’t have dibs on corruption or scandal. Clinton had his fair share of scandal. Bush is not immune either.(Lying is lying be it about stealing a jellybean or an adulterous affair or war).I’m not going to get in the debate about what lie is worse or who is worse but power is addictive and therefore causes corruption because they’ll do anything to retain their power.

If we can give foreign embassy’s total protection from FBI searches, even though some of them have been involved in crimes, e.g. Soviet Union and Israeel, I think Congress merits the same “privilege”. Or does Congress send officers to the White House to raid offices?

In Israeli elections you have two choices: The Serial murderers or the Swindlers. AIPAC services both.

A joint session of congress gave a standing ovation to Olmert, the new prime minster of Israel.

    Unbelievable.

He’s starving the Palestinians for electing Hamas { Hamas has been trying to feed the Palestinians from European aid while Rice shuts-down their travel visas }.

    Rice is insane.

First the Palestinians elected Abbas, but the Israeli thugs said he had no power, therefore they couldn’t deal with him. So the Palestinians elected Hamas, but the Israeli thugs said Hamas will fight back when we slaughter Palestinians so that makes them “terrorists.” And we can’t deal with “terrorists” { At 1 dollar a day, it takes 5 million to feed 5 million Palestinians and any nation who tries to feed the Palestinians will be a “terrorist” nation, especially Iran }.

    This is Bush’s foreign policy.
