That’s $260,000 we won’t get back

Attorney General Phill Kline spent just more than $2 million each of the past two years on litigation fees and costs. That’s high but not out of line with what former Attorney General Carla Stovall averaged. But what is out of line is the $260,000 he spent on his pro-life activism.
Nearly $30,000 was spent on his pursuit of medical records from abortion clinics. The other $230,000 went to defend his opinion that all sex between teens under age 16 must be reported to authorities, even if it is consensual (though probably not if a girl performed oral sex on a boy, he said on the stand). Of that amount, $153,000 went to an anti-abortion consultant, and about $78,000 paid for “expert” witnesses, including the geniuses who said that boys should be able to buy condoms but girls shouldn’t have access to birth control, and that it mattered whether a boy is black or white.

Damn, you go Phillip!! I love it when I am wrong!

If phill klein would just report the expenses as in-kind campaign donations would that be ok with everyone?

Or maybe his campaign war chest funds could be used for legal fees?

Isnt that what the bug man is doing?

So $150,000 for lights on a bridge is a worthy investment. But $250,000 spent by some right-winger is an outrageous waste of money.

So, you guys are thinking that this money wasn’t well spent?

It was a retaliation aimed at George Tiller, M.D. who donated so much money to Phill’s unknown democratic rival, that this person almost defeated Kline. I am grateful that my tax money can be used for political revenge. This is sort of how they do it in Afghanistan.

And on a related note: when confronted by a dissident today in North Carolina, our leader GW Bush declined to apologize for his shameful law-breaking. This was greeted with thunderous applause from the mindless masses.

Praise be to Alah and the Taliban!

KFG, I glad you are a big enough person to reconsider my pal, Phillip. My theory is that many good Op Ed writers serve as Rorschach cards for their readers. When I look at the stuff written on the WashingtonPost boards — you will see two posts and I think “did these people read the same article?” — sure enough they did.

Just wondering if this was another “bi-partisan” crowd Bush was speaking to in North Carolina…as if I don’t know.

Well, Joe – the latter may be okay with you, but Phill owes me some money back.

Well BloJo there is a bit of a difference between spending money for the benefit of the City and spending on a political vendetta abd witch-hunt. What do we have to show for all this wasted money except the enshrinement of the idea that it’s OK for a girl to ’service’ a guy but not vice versa? Of curse, Phil’s buddies got a lot of money so I suppose that is a good thing.

If anyone ever offers to give you a inkblot test, always refuse – especially if you hope to ever get out — my advice to everyone. :-)

All kidding aside, there’s actually no real danger because managed care rarely agrees to pay for psych testing any more.

DD, it isnt psych testing I’m worried about. I am more concerned about the haliburton detention centers and gitmo!

The V for Vendetta protagonist says in the movie:

“You should not fear the government, the government should fear you.”

Have no fear KFG, that day is coming back. After today’s events, I’m convinced they will come back sooner than I had even hoped for.

And sure I’ll look for ya, sans my Zorro outfit, though. :-)

I used to think it was just a few nutballs in Kansas that subscribed to the Phil Kline doctorin and all the Bible-thumping but I’m convinced this state is in fact the countries largest n0-border insane asylum…

You’re all freakin’ nuts. No wonder your children are running to leave this oppressed state as fast as they can.

Good luck on your future prospects is all I can say…

It was nice to see that at least one agency was spending less than before.

I’m just not sure that Phill went about this in the right way. If the goal was to try and address the issue of young girls 15 and under having babies and abortions there was probably a better way to go about it. It would appear that for those having babies he could have looked at birth certificates or asked that doctors and hospitals report it. For the abortions the doctors could report them.

It is important for us to make sure that these girls were not raped or abused by family members. He should look for another way to protect these young girls. The way he went about it was not right.

Yeah ruby, it could work that way… if phill gave a damn about underage live births. He is only concerned about abortion, and using tax dollars to further his personal jihad.

Oh, and if damn wasnt enough bad language…. BOOGER!

    DD,

I’m still not sure that the Morrison guy from Johnson is they right guy either. He ran for District Attorney as a Republican and then changes to a Democrat to run against Phill Kline. I don’t have a problem with people changing party but I think it is somewhat disingenuous to change parties after you are elected.

It was the question of integrity. Can the individual be trusted? He ran under the republican label and that is how people elected him. Now all of a sudden he decides he is no longer a republican? I think the Democrats had best come up with a better choice for a candidate.

    I also call Jihad.

The expense in this is not proportionate to the number of “hidden crimes” that Phil SAYS he is looking for.

    Posted April 7, 2006 at 10:13 am | Permalink

Well, Morrison could resign and then the democrats could choose his replacement. That was decided by the ks supreme court with the decisions regarding the Shawnee co treasurer and the Wilson county sheriff.

Wanna bet ruby wouldnt like that either? I call sour grapes.

I think you can expect more republican defections at both the state and national level.

Integrity works both ways. We’ll see in November if the voters prefer a party switcher or the continuing wingnut saga of phill “sex police” klein.
