Competition comes to cable TV in Kansas

One bipartisan success story of the 2006 legislative session was the cable TV competition bill, which Gov. Kathleen Sebelius signed April 7 and touted at an event Thursday. It updates the state’s cable franchising law as of July 1 to allow more competition by AT&T and other companies. That should mean more choice and better value for cable watchers, as local franchise agreements are phased out in favor of streamlined statewide ones. Interestingly, the initial opposition from cable companies and cities largely evaporated as lawmakers ensured that their interests were protected in the final bill. All in all, the process worked as it should. Too bad that can’t always be the case in Topeka.

Ahh, sitting around watching TV. Yeah, that’s just what Kansas needs, another excuse of being lazy and unhealthy.

After suffering from lousy service, missed appointments, overbilling and in general a very, very disappointing service from Cox, I am looking forward to an alternative.

Think past TV to broadband service. I’ve heard some interesting things about AT&T.

Try to think in terms of telecomunication. Kansas could use some comunication.

CrueX,It’s more than TV…wait for the rollout.k,I won’t know for sure until at least Tuesday, but if ATT Kansas has anything to say about it, there will be at least ONE channel that will be largely crap-free:)raptor, xxx:Right on!Rom,That was then. This is now.U-Verse TV is the way to go!

The only question in my mind is:Will the Eagle’s TV section continue to suck up to Cox, or will it be even-handed in its sucking up?
