Have you seen the high-tech billboard blazing up the night sky above Starbucks at Central and Rock Road? It looks like a giant big-screen TV. Talk about eye-catching — or maybe it’s just distracting and annoying.
Is this the future of outdoor signage? Rock Road might look like Times Square pretty soon if this is a trend. Will drivers have to wear sunglasses, even at night?

I saw them all over NYC back in 1999. We are a bit behind the trend. The jumbotron billboard looks great. I hope they replace all the standard billboards with the jumbotron.
Next! We need to finally get those warning overhead signs over our major roads. I-135 and Kellogg. The amber alert ones that they have in major cities. OKC and KC have them, and I remember back more than a year ago, they said the Wichita is suppose to get them, but when?
Yeah, Kansas is behind the curve here. These things are all over Asia as well, they’ve been popular in Japan for at least 10 years.
Absolutely right Joe – we need those live warning signs. If we know there is a tie-up “down the road” we can bail out and take an alternate route. Similarly just to perhaps slow down for slick spots etc.
Wichita will look like a Japanese night club by the end of 2020. Damn, and I just ate breakfast.
I say talk about pollution, and i’m usually a guy with modest views.
