With the Academy Awards coming up Sunday, the Los Angeles Times put the Best Picture nominees to the truth test. They all came up short: “Munich,” for leaving out how the Mossad killed an innocent waiter instead of a targeted Black September leader. “Capote,” for misrepresenting how much Truman Capote manipulated the legal process and the killers. “Crash,” for portraying Los Angeles as far more of a “simmering, racist hellbroth” than it is. “Brokeback Mountain,” for casting white Aussie Heath Ledger in a role written for a Latino. And “Good Night, and Good Luck,” for giving Edward R. Murrow more credit than he deserves for bringing down Joe McCarthy. None of this will matter, regrettably, as the movies come to overshadow the facts that inspired them. But let the viewer beware.

They also could have mentioned that some of the Israeli wrestlers who were murdered by the Palestinians had children. Only the Arabs were shown in this movie showing moral equivalency between those avenging murder of innocents and bloodthirsty terrorists. But that is an uncomfortable (and unpopular) fact among the liberal elites at the LATimes.
Just movies. Meant for entertainment, although a lot of people lately have been thinking that there is always an agenda with these movies in regards to showcasing leftism.
I don’t see it. Most are just crappy movies. But there are some good ones.
I won’t have to watch the Oscars this year. I already know the winners.
For those of you that are curious, but don’t want t watch:

If you want to see the Oscars don’t read the link.

I’ve never forgiven the AMPAS for giving the Oscar to Annie Hall over Star Wars. And Fahrenheil 911 wasn’teven nominated!
The LA Times makes the truth hurt.
They print it.
I generally don’t attend many movies and probably won’t attend “Good Night, And Good Luck” about the claim of Edward R. Murrow “bringing down” Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin. I remember some of that sickening episode from my school days. Its amazing that Senator Joseph McCarthy was such a personally powerful bully that he basically bullied the entire U.S. government and many of our institutions.
And I’m disappointed that some of America’s leaders at the time who I admired and still admire (Truman, Eisenhower, etc.) didn’t really stand up to Senator McCarthy’s rants and raves about communists infiltrating all kinds of American organizations.
But there was one person who finally stepped up and dropped the verbal axe on Senator McCarthy and his underlings, Roy Cohn, later an influential New York lawyer, and Army shirker, G. David Shine.
That was special counsel to the U.S. Army, Joseph Welch, in the so-called Army-McCarthy hearings regarding G. David Shines’ attempt to avoid serving in the U.S.Army.
Mr. Welch plunged the verbal axe into Senator McCarthy when he said something to the effect, “My god Senator, don’t you have any decency left?” That spelled the beginning of the end for McCarthy.

The Oscars are just another form of mind control by a bunch of godless Jews trying to indoctrinate our kids into being Leftist scum like they are.
JR, F/911 wasn’t eligible for the Oscar. Moore made the decision that kept the movie out. If memory serves, it had to do with the release date of F/911. But don’t quote me on that.
My disillusion began when John Wayne won best actor for True Grit over Dustin Hoffman for Midnight Cowboy. I’ve never believed Wayne was awarded the Oscar because of his acting in that particular movie, but instead was awarded for his contribution to movies over his long career–which was well-deserved. I liked John Wayne and list a couple of his movies among my all-time favorites, but I didn’t see an award-winning performance in True Grit.
I don’t watch the Academy Awards as much for the winners as I do to find out who has died and will no longer be entertaining us. Then there are those great clips of movies past that bring back happy memories. Besides, I’m waiting for another streaker…
Spare me the over hyped, self congratulatory extravaganza and the “star worship”. They are just movies, for cripes sakes.
Watch the Oscars? I am sure I have to do anything else..
Mea culpa RD. You are right. It was Michael Moore’s decision. I don’t remember just why he did that but I do know it was a noble cause.I agree on the True Grit thing. Though I know nothing of Midnight Cowboy. John Wayne was very ill with cancer at the time. It was the sentimental thing to do. A better Wayne performance was in “The Alamo”.
CruX ? YOu allright guy? Your posts are usually a little more level headed.
Yeah, CrusaderX,It looks like Ian has finally possessed you. Go see a God-fearing priest at once for an exorcism. And do it quickly before you develop Ian’s electronic Tourett’s syndrome.
Actually I was being sarcastic. You really think I’d post something like that JR? G-d! Gimme some credit!
Truth,Only an uneducated, country-bumpkin, Nazi ass-kisser like yourself would actually think I was serious. Once again you prove your “superior Aryan intelligence” is incapable of understanding sarcasm. Tsk tsk tsk, perhaps you should follow Hitler’s order for the German people to commit suicide when the Red Army had invaded Berlin?
