Stovall tried to tell them so

One should read into the U.S. Supreme Court’s request to rehear arguments in Kansas’ death penalty case with extreme caution. It might mean that new Justice Samuel Alito needs the benefit of a rehearing to break a tie. It might mean no such thing. Still, the request indicates that the law’s constitutionality isn’t a slam dunk at this point. For that, state lawmakers can blame their predecessors, who ignored then-Attorney General Carla Stovall’s warning more than a decade ago that the newly revived death penalty had a problem. Meanwhile, nine death sentences, no executions. Hard to believe this is what Kansans expected by this point.

Carla is smart and the nicest looking A.G. we’ve had in a while. How did she ever fall for Larry Steckline??? Life is unfair.

Since when does the kansas legislature listen to anyone but the voices in their heads that THEY think come from god?

They were warned about school finance and the hate amendment too.

Damned activist judges, forcing the legies to play by the rules. We dont NEED no stinkin’ courts.

    OFF with their judicial heads!

    heheh. Taliban anyone?

No Rhonda, it is not what Kansans expected, but, it is exactly what Kansas politicians expected and wanted. It was well known within the KDOC that they would never carry out a death warrant as they designed the law to appear tough on crime, yet make it easy to back out of when the time approached to carry it out. Yes, Kansas politicians are that devious, they are not that stupid. If you ever get the chance be sure and visit the stage prop they built to call a death chamber. It can be removed in two hours tops. It has knock down walls, no witness seating, and you couldn’t even fit a strecher on the elevator to remove a body.
