Posny’s departure a real loss

The one comfort in having Bob Corkins as our state education commissioner is that he has some capable staffers working for him at the Kansas State Department of Education. So even though Corkins doesn’t have any education training or significant management experience, at least he has good people helping oversee the state’s public schools. Well, a key member of that team is leaving. Alexa Posny, deputy education commissioner, is the new director of the Office for Special Education Programs with the federal education agency. Conservatives on the State Board of Education passed over Posny for the education commissioner job. Now, her departure is a real loss for the state.

The Right wing controlled Kansas Board of Education is not concerned with education. No one can blameAlexa Posny for wanting to leave. Her concern was education.

The right wing KBOE is into religious and corporate dogma. Corkins is their boy and it is not surprising that anyone concerned with real education does not fit in.

The loss of Posny is very sad for kansans, but it is a great move for her. She is just doing what so many kansans have done over the past few years. She is looking at kansas in her rear view mirror.

Will the last person leaving kansas PLEASE turn out the lights? No need to lock the doors, I dont think there will be anything left to loot!

    Ditto that, KFGrl.

The school board screws over one of their best people and puts in a monkey, and surprise, surprise, the good candidate is so outta here.

    Education isn’t missionary work . . .
