I don’t think anyone anticipated such a pitiful response

Four days after Hurricane Katrina hit, President Bush said, “I don’t think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees.” The statement did not hold up at the time, it being clear that many had anticipated the threat. And now, with the release of video footage from the day before Katrina struck, it is clear that Bush himself knew of the danger. The “We did not know” excuse that the administration employed in the days after the hurricane is disturbing. But what is more disturbing is that federal, state and local officials — even with the luxury of advance warning — still failed miserably in their response.

Did you notice he simply sat passively and did not interact? Was he really there? Or was that a cardboard cutout?

Ben, you’re making a distinction where there really is no difference.

“No Nothing” Nathan is back to his time-tested strategy: raising the bar of proof so high that even Daniel Webster couldn’t meet it.

Warning: do not operate heavy machinery after reading Nathan. Your reasoning ability has been temporarily impaired.

Bush had no idea that Al Qaeda was going to attack either, especially after that Presidential Daily Briefing which read, “Al Qaeda determined to strike in the US.”

And no one could have ever imagined they would use airplanes as missiles–Bush thought a “kamikaze” was an alcoholic drink he used to chug at the frat house.

    It is real simple.

You say Bush is a liar. I ask you to show me the lie.

You respond with everything but what the lie is.

You could save your self a bunch of time if when you accuse him of telling a lie you just go ahead and say what that lie is.

What is the point of asking me to defend the “lie” if I don’t know what the “lie” is?

Nope. Instead of posting the lie you find it much easier to throw your monkey poop at me.

  11. Posted March 2, 2006 at 5:19 pm | Permalink

“No Nothing” should be “Know Nothing.” Damn silent letters . . .

  12. Posted March 2, 2006 at 5:22 pm | Permalink

Nathan, Fer gosh sakes man, you make ridiculing you too effing easy.

Bush went to a briefing where they told him, “the levees are quite likely to fail.”

The next day after the levees fail, Bush says, “nobody could have foreseen that the levees would fail.”

How the hell could it be any clearer?

    Hey Tellit,

    Thanks for the link.

When GW Bush was GHW Bush’s unofficial campaign manager he told the minions, “if you see a grenade on the ground near the old man, your job is to jump on it.”

I am thinking that “Brownie” did his job by jumping on the grenade for Bush II. Is anybody else, after seeing these videos, thinking that Brown’s reputation is being rehabilitated somewhat?

Walker,Are you saying that GW is too stupid to understand what he was being advised on? And, that if he did understand, he did not care?

Bush supporters will be falling back on “It wasn’t under oath”, therefore Bush is free to lie as often as he wants. Clinton was impeached for one lie, Bush has told many but his supporters just don’t seem to care, maybe they’ve become accustomed to it.

    Well done Tara!

Hey Nathan? bush got a DVD! Yup, on day 5 after a category 5 hurricane hit a major US city bush needed a DVD of the press coverage of the death and suffering in a major American city to catch him up. Ya know……cause he was on vacation and all.

Now I KNOW playing golf in Arizona and speaking to troops to promote the ever questionable Iraq war is just a bit more important than when an American city drowns. And kudos to bush for flying over the damage on his way back to DC! And he visited like 7 or 8 times since!

    Hey better late then never!

Know what I got outta those briefing tapes? Check out the Presidential seal behind bush. Obviously, it is too big for the wall it is on. It’s also off center and to the right of bush.

    Tara,

Damn! Someone finally address Nathan in a language he can comprehend! Good job adjusting to the fact that some folks are visual learners. I believe you have done an end-run around his evasive, dishonest, sneaky questions. Well done.

From Nathan’s silence, I gather that he realized his ass had been handed to him, and that a strategic retreat was necessary.

As someone who suffers from Tinnitis, which is contant ringing in the ears, I imagine that the Wingnuts deal with their cognitive dissonance in the same way: by learning to ignore it. It’s only when someone points it out that it becomes noticeable. And it is then that they run away.
