Some U.S. officials have spoken about the recent sectarian violence in Iraq with surprising detachment, as if it’s separate from the U.S. effort to counter the insurgency and enable democracy to take hold. But isn’t it all entwined and, worse, fueled by U.S. money? Reports continue to emerge of anti-Sunni death squads within Iraq’s police and highway patrol. When asked Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation” whether Shiite death squads had infiltrated the Iraqi Interior Ministry, national security adviser Stephen Hadley said, “There’s been some evidence of it. And it’s troubling.” Troubling? Most Americans would have a stronger word for the news that U.S. tax dollars have helped fund hundreds of roadside executions.

Ariel Sharon brought the United States a new standard of morality, if you can call the absence of morality a standard.
Everything from dropping 1000 lb bombs on sleeping families in hopes of maybe killing a “suspected terrorist” or a least demoralizing them to the point of despair.
Torture techniques exported from “facility 1391″ in Israel and winding-up in Abu Graib prison in Iraq to “death squads should now come as no surprise.
Wecome to the world of PNAC.
Why should all this come as a surpirse to anyone? Our tax dollars have subsidised death squads in Latin America and we foot the bill for the choppers, missiles and the bullets that the zionists use to murder Plestinian children.
Heck, our tax dollars go in the form of “foreign aid” to places like China and Chimpbabwe!
Viva la Raza Blanco!!
We have a base in Georgia called the School of the Americas where our handpicked thugs and mercenaries learn the most advanced techniques of terrorism to de-stablize political leaders that the Bush Team doesn’t like.
One good way to help stop terrorism would be for the US to stop engaging in it and training people for it.
So what else is new. The US (and particularly the CIA and DIA) has been doing this for decades.
Indeed. When Stephen Hadley declares himself ‘troubed’ and acts like he’s about to faint, it’s a little hard to take.
What bastards. Not fooling anybody.
So what? We funded Saddam and developed the chemical agents that he used against the Iranians and Kurds. We supported the Mujahideen and Binny Laden during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. We tried to assassinate Castro via the mob!The Capt. America notion of a pure goody-two-shoes America never was!
If people get upset about the taxpayer funded terrorism in “roadside killings” in Iraq, how much more upset should they be about the bombs we drop on Iraqi kids.
Those are taxpayer-funded too . . .
If a government knowingly supports or engages in murder (and murder is what these deathsquads seem accused of), are the citizens who give the government its authority morally responsible for the deaths?
How do those of Christian faith (or other faiths for that matter) who have made a committment to live by and uphold God’s commandments reconcile that committment with their support (financial or otherwise) of a government whose actions may be contradictory to these religous ideals?
If some members of the faith community support pharmacists who refuse to dispense medications that are contradictory to matters of faith, would it be consistent that they also support refusal of payment of that portion of federal taxes which are used to fund military operations that result in unjustified death?
If our government engages or supports activities which are contradictory to religious faith, is it possible to be a genuine Christian and still profess national allegiance? I really don’t know where to stand on such issues, and appreciate any thoughts or comments.
“Is it possible to be a genuine Christian and still profess national allegiance?”Yes, but a person has to hide their head in the sand to do it these past 5 years. Our current administration has presumptively said, “God is on our side!” but we have been sold a bill of goods. The book of James says that if you want to know a person’s belief don’t listen to what he says, look at what he does. I think the same rule applies to government. This administration will have a lot to answer for that is not very Christian in their actions. Using the crutch of 9/11 they have bullied their way around the world, invaded 2 countries, and trampled on the rights of people world wide, including our own people in the US, all the while practically bankrupting the economy to pursue their worldwide goals. It seems to parallel the Old Testament kingdoms of David and Saul. God put both on the throne. One realized his responsibility to God and the people. Though he had a fling with a woman which he paid dearly for, David led the nation into unparalleled prosperity and was called “a man after God’s own heart”.The other claimed God was on his side, ruled with a heavy hand, and tried to kill his own countrymen that he thought were adversaries. Saul lived his life following his own rules. Pursuing his own interest was paramount and he led his country to defeat at the hands of an enemy.
Wow, good post, Rusty.
Welcome to the WEBlog!
Great Post Rusty. Keep ‘em coming!
LOL
The two posters who don’t agree with Christianity agree with the person who is using the Bible to attack Bush…
LOL
I will be back later to refute the weak attempt by Mr. Ford to show how Bush is “not very Christian in their actions”
“Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called the Children of God.”
Part of the Bible the fundamentalists excise . . .
“Let he who hath no sword sell hiscloak and buy one.” –Jesus, Luke 22:36
It is very interesting that U.S. troops in Iraq, you know the ones with their boots on the ground, have a very different view of the war in Iraq that do our ideologues, Nathan and Hank.
From Zogby’s latest poll:”An overwhelming majority (72%) of American troops serving in Iraq think the U.S. should exit the country within the next year, and nearly one in four say the troops should leave immediately, a new Le Moyne College/Zogby International survey shows.”
The link here:http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1075
What is incredibly sad is that “almost 90% think the war is retaliation for Saddam’s role in 9/11.”
I would not want to be Bush when these folks start learning the truth.
“I would not want to be Bush when these folks start learning the truth.”
Sadly, most Americans are too trusting and will believe what ever our zionist media feeds them.
The truth will eventually come out and if our scumbag politicians are still alive then they will face justice. I also would not want to be the jews when people learn that the holocau$t is a filthy lie!
