Cindy Sheehan performed a valuable public service last summer by camping outside President Bush’s Crawford ranch and drawing attention to the ongoing problems in Iraq. But, unfortunately, she has weakened her powerful personal message as she has expanded her protesting.
Sheehan marginalized herself by meeting last weekend with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who put his arm around her and called for help in bringing down “the U.S. empire” (see photo). Another bad move would be if she goes forward with her plan to run against Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. Then Tuesday night she was arrested in the House gallery before the start of the State of the Union address.
Sheehan’s vigil struck an emotional chord with millions of Americans — liberals and conservatives — because of its simple message of a grieving mother who lost her son in Iraq and didn’t want other families to needlessly experience similar pain. The more she gets beyond that message, the less effective she becomes.

When Sheehan fit the media mold of being against the war she was on the front page and the subject of lead editorials. Now that she has proven to be a total whack job (as we on the right pointed out last summer) she’s relegated to a sorrowful mention on the back of the blog page. Typical.
What do “we on the right” think about the “total whack job” being handcuffed in the House chamber for wearing a t-shirt that protested the war? I think Ms. Sheehan is misguided, but I am not at all comfortable when Americans are arrested for the peaceful expression of dissenting views.
Why is one grieving mother celebrated in the House chamber and another arrested outside the door? What are the boys inside so afraid of?
Okay – in case you all start in – I know. House rules prevent political demonstrations in the gallery. Ironic, but we’ll pass on that. It’s still shocking to see an American being led away in handcuffs for wearing a t-shirt.
SandyG
She broke house rules. Simple as that. I was also reported that she had a banner she was about to unfurl. Another broken house rule.
She’s a disgrace to her sons memory and everything his service stood for.
That’s right. She broke the rules. And getting arrested was part of her plan. No harm there, no foul. Even assuming I agreed with her, I wouldn’t go about protesting in this way. But “a disgrace to her son’s memory”? I don’t think so. She was exercising the rights that American soldierslike her son give their lives to protect. This is one of the things that makes America so different – and better – than many parts of the world.
Her 15 minutes of fame has been up long time ago.
The only thing I know is that she was an anti-war activist before her son was lost in the war on terror. So losing her son was not the cause of her constant protesting. She used the death of her son to further her cause.
Her family disagreed with her and now she is a divorced from her family and acting alone. Well not alone. She is with the far-leftist crowd and traveling the world on their dime.
They really should have let her stay, let the folks watch her rant, let her further illustrate to the nation why the Democrats in congress cannot be trusted with our national defense. Let her and Dean/kerry/clinton/pelosi/and-so-on speak all they want, let them drive themselves deeper and deeper into the ditch.
‘Trusted with our national defense,’ Heckler? Seems to me that it was the Bush Administration who let 9/11 happen, and the Bush Administration who has us mired down in Iraq to the point where we can do nothing to stop Iran’s acquisition of a nuclear weapon.
Our active duty military is on the verge of fragmentation, and all Heckler can do is stand there and beat his chest about how only Bush is to be ‘trusted’ with the defense of America.
More to the point, Bush has screwed up everything else in this country–EVERYTHING–so badly that all dead-ender Bush defenders can do is go back to the 9/11 well, yet again.
Where the hell does this Sheehan get off protesting the policies of our illustrious president? He is protecting us from evil-doers and what has she done for our country??? Huh, losing her son is supposed to be some big deal?! Why she is backed by Michael Moore type leftists! And, hence, anything she says is meaningless!! Thank you very much.
CF,I really find it hard to believe that Bush just “let 9/11 happen.” That would indicate a mentality capable of planning; something this administration has shown very little capacity for doing.
While I totally disagree with the war, I also totally disagree with the way Sheehan has mourned her son. Sure, she has every right to do so, however her son volunteered for duty in Iraq, he re-enlisted to go over there. He knew what he was doing, yet his mother makes him out to be some kind of Bush robot who didn’t have the ability to think for himself.
Which in my mind makes her: a) A bad mother, or b) a mother who thinks nothing of her sons wishes. I hardly think that qualifies someone as a spokesperson for the Left. Or at least I would hope they wouldn’t stoop so low as to use her as one.
CF
To argue with you over the war or George Bush would be pointless, neither of us will change the others mind.
But if your hope is that freaks like Sheehan,Pelosi,Dean,Kerry are going to bring the Democrat party back to glory you’re smoking some nasty crank and you need to stop it before you end up like Ed.
The more your fringe gets in America’s face, the farther away they drive the American middle.
Get a job, Cindy.
I was asked to blog that ksfarmgrrl’s mom passed away last night.
She wants you to know that she is not shying away from a fight with the crazy right wingers…
Heckler,
And the more your cynical lunatic fringe of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld kills America’s sons and daughters in a trumped-up war for profits and oil, and refuses to honor the commitment to returning veterans, the farther away THEY drive the American middle. Or, better, the more they shrink the American middle.
CF–So, 9/11 is Bush’s fault? He “let it happen”? But, you and your pals scream bloody murder about the Patriot Act, saying it violates civil liberties.
You want it both ways, don’t you? Blame Bush for not acting, then scream when he tries to do something about it.
Curiousity, would ANYTHING make you happy? Short of GW’s resignation and the suicide of every Republican on the planet, that is?
Btw…Bin Laden’s people came into the country under Clinton’s watch…so, who’s ‘fault’ is it?
To the person/persons signing in under ksfarmgrrl’s handle,
Please extend to her all of our sincere condolences over her loss. Tell her she’ll be in our thoughts and prayers, and to take all the time she needs.
And also tell her that we on the Left will step into the breach. She leaves us some big ‘ol shoes to fill.
You have my sympathy Frmgrl, I’m so sorry for your loss.
Ray Thomas,
Absolutely. His National Security team was focused on other threats. This is all well-documented in the book of Richard Clarke and others.
Moreover, don’t try to shoehorn me into your false dilemma: the choice is not ‘do nothing to stop terrorism’ or ‘act against the Constitution to stop terrorism.’ There are laws and procedures that work. The problem is twofold: a) a pre-9/11 lack of interest on the part of this feckless Administration; and b) a post-9/11 seizing of any pretext to expand Executive power regardless of whether such a grab was warranted or effective.
Bush’s bon mot last night that 9/11 could have been prevented if his domestic spying program had been in place is ludicicrous. But maybe it COULD have been prevented if the actionable intelligence being provided by FBI agents about flight training had been heard higher up the chain.
Technology doesn’t crack spy rings. Human intelligence and professional investigations do. The Admininstration’s insistence on the former and disregard of the latter leads me to conclude that they’re not really all that interested in doing away with real or perceived terrorist enemies. After all, Osama is still out there. Rather, their real interest lies in justifying the tools necessary to turn the screws down even further on domestic opposition.
Hurray,We’re one step closer the the feudal society imagined by our illustrious and great president!!!
Here’s His greatness’s plan:Make Tax cuts for the weatlhy – permanent. Start at least a couple of more wars without any tax revenue. Government will be completely bankrupt. If the Government is bankrupt and not functioning, how can it take Tax money — ha, ha, it CAN’T.
After the above steps, we will then revert to a society where we will pledge our fealty to the nearest billionaire — they will take care of us and protect us from the marauding hordes that will roam our countryside.
Unfortunately for Kansans we will be in the feudal territory of Warren Buffett – that dumb ass is a well-known democrat and he adheres to regressive ideas like individual rights. I bet he won’t even let us in his castle.Sob, sob!
“I was asked to blog that ksfarmgrrl’s mom passed away last night.
She wants you to know that she is not shying away from a fight with the crazy right wingers… ”
Wow – she’s got some really messed up priorities.
My prayers are with you, grrl.
CF
It’s funny you should mention Humint versus Technology. I’m not going to say the name but under the previous “administration” our ability to do humint was crippled by a rules that prevented the CIA from enlisting foreign agents with certain types of crimes in their background. A “wall” was built between CIA and FBI to prevent them from sharing the type of intel that could have prevented 9/11. The previous administration crippled our ability to gather and share intel in ways to numerous to go into right now.
The funny and sad thing is the Democrats in congress keep fighting to maintain those changes from the previous admin that make it harder to gather human intel. Go figure.
ksfarmgrrl,I lost my mother last year, So I know the pain. My sympathies and prayers. I only hope she wasn’t in pain.
While everyone is getting their panties in a wad about poor little Cindy Sheehan, you might think about Beverly Young too.
Hank
My sympathies to ksfarmgrrl. Tell her the fight goes on.
Hey Ray your idea for Bush and company to resign and the suicide of every Republican on the planet? Would it be illustrative for me to tell you that I think that is an EXCELLENT idea! Maybe the only one I’ve ever heard from the knuckledragging right.
Couple points here; Cindy Sheehan has paid the ultimate price. And there is not ONE of you bushies, blindly following your war-mad, draft dodging p Resident that has one ounce of right to criticize her.
Point 2: Yeah she met with Venezuelan President Chavez. That would be the same Chavez that is using his office to help supply heating oil at a discount to disadvantaged Americans. Oh but I forgot helping people and compassion are not only foreign concepts to the right; they are to be devoutly avoided!
Cindy Sheehan herogeorgie bush zero
I am still curious as to whom it was that invited her to the house in the first place.
I did not catch that one yet, anyone else know?
According to Fox News:
Capitol Police took Sheehan, invited as a guest of Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Calif., away in handcuffs and charged her with unlawful conduct, a misdemeanor. She later was released on her own recognizance.
she wasn’t alone…….
Beverly Young, wife of Rep. C.W. Bill Young of Florida — chairman of the House Defense Appropriations subcommittee — was removed from the gallery because she was wearing a T-shirt that read, “Support the Troops — Defending Our Freedom.”
Go figure…….
The news isn’t reporting about Beverly Young, the real hero that was removed:

If you think Chavez is providing low cost heating oil out of the goodness of your heart your smoking the same thing CF is.
At least he’s providing it! That’s more than you can say for Bush and Big Oil.
Ksfarmgrrl, my deepest sympathies in your time of loss. Rest assured you and your mother will be in my prayers. I hope she passed easy.
Cindy Sheehan was tolerated until she told the truth! When she said that this criminal enterprise was to benefit israel the smear campaign and assualt on her rights to free speech went into overdrive. She has been called a whack job, an extreme leftist and the even claimed she was in league with David Duke, pathetic.
The zionist cockroaches that control our government are losing control and you can expect ever more oppression as things continue to unravel.
Viva La Raza Blanco!!
Ksfarmgrrl, nothing I can say will make up for the loss of your mother. Please accept my sympathy and prayers in these times of sorrow. All my best,XXX.
Yup, remember how much those radicals hurt their cause when they dumped the tea in Boston harbor?
Martin Luther King too “marginalized” himself when he landed in jail in Birmingham. Those southern preachers and newspapermen were right–his actions were “unwise and untimely.”
To make an omlet, you have to break some eggs.
Well said XXX. Ditto.
Farmgrrl,In all seriousness, I am very sorry for your loss. Your friends here are thinking of you.
Hank, I too am impressed by Beverly Young’s activism. But, did you see the quote of her positions in the article you linked?
“I think people should be able to be in love with whoever they want,” she says. “I don’t think men have a right to tell women what to do with their bodies.”
These don’t sound very Republican, do ya think?
Given the various opinions expressed upthread about Cindy Sheehan, I thought her take on things deserved to heard here as well.

What Really HappenedBy Cindy Sheehant r u t h o u t | Perspective
Wednesday 01 February 2006
As most of you have probably heard, I was arrested before the State of the Union address last night.I am speechless with fury at what happened and with grief over what we have lost in our country. There have been lies from the police and distortions by the press (shocker). So this is what really happened:This afternoon at the People’s State of the Union Address in DC, where I was joined by Congresspersons Lynn Woolsey and John Conyers, Ann Wright, Malik Rahim and John Cavanagh, Lynn brought me a ticket to the State of the Union address. At that time, I was wearing the shirt that said: 2245 Dead. How many more? After the PSOTU press conference, I was having second thoughts about going to the SOTU at the Capitol. I didn’t feel comfortable going. I knew George Bush would say things that would hurt me and anger me, and I knew that I couldn’t disrupt the address because Lynn had given me the ticket, and I didn’t want to be disruptive out of respect for her. I, in fact, had given the ticket to John Bruhns, who is in Iraq Veterans Against the War. However, Lynn’s office had already called the media, and everyone knew I was going to be there, so I sucked it up and went.I got the ticket back from John, and I met one of Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s staffers in the Longworth Congressional Office building and we went to the Capitol via the underground tunnel. I went through security once, then had to use the rest room and went through security again. My ticket was in the 5th gallery, front row, fourth seat in. The person who in a few minutes was to arrest me, helped me to my seat.I had just sat down and I was warm from climbing 3 flights of stairs back up from the bathroom so I unzipped my jacket. I turned to the right to take my left arm out, when the same officer saw my shirt and yelled, “Protester.” He then ran over to me, hauled me out of my seat, and roughly (with my hands behind my back) shoved me up the stairs. I said something like “I’m going, do you have to be so rough?” By the way, his name is Mike Weight. The officer ran with me to the elevators, yelling at everyone to move out of the way. When we got to the elevators, he cuffed me and took me outside to await a squad car. On the way out, someone behind me said, “That’s Cindy Sheehan.” At which point the officer who arrested me said, “Take these steps slowly.” I said, “You didn’t care about being careful when you were dragging me up the other steps.” He said, “That’s because you were protesting.” Wow, I got hauled out of the People’s House because I was “Protesting.”I was never told that I couldn’t wear that shirt into the Congress. I was never asked to take it off or zip my jacket back up. If I had been asked to do any of those things … I would have, and written about the suppression of my freedom of speech later. I was immediately and roughly (I have the bruises and muscle spasms to prove it) hauled off and arrested for “unlawful conduct.”After I had my personal items inventoried and my fingers printed, a nice Sgt. came in and looked at my shirt and said, “2245, huh? I just got back from there.”I told him that my son died there. That’s when the enormity of my loss hit me. I have lost my son. I have lost my First Amendment rights. I have lost the country that I love. Where did America go? I started crying in pain. What did Casey die for? What did the 2244 other brave young Americans die for? What are tens of thousands of them over there in harm’s way for still? For this? I can’t even wear a shirt that has the number of troops on it that George Bush and his arrogant and ignorant policies are responsible for killing.I wore the shirt to make a statement. The press knew I was going to be there, and I thought every once in awhile they would show me, and I would have the shirt on. I did not wear it to be disruptive, or I would have unzipped my jacket during George’s speech. If I had any idea what happens to people who wear shirts that make the neocons uncomfortable, that I would be arrested … maybe I would have, but I didn’t.There have already been many wild stories out there.I have some lawyers looking into filing a First Amendment lawsuit against the government for what happened tonight. I will file it. It is time to take our freedoms and our country back.I don’t want to live in a country that prohibits any person, whether or not he/she has paid the ultimate price for that country, from wearing, saying, writing, or telephoning any negative statements about the government. That’s why I am going to take my freedoms and liberties back. That’s why I am not going to let BushCo take anything else away from me … or you.I am so appreciative of the couple of hundred of protesters who came to the jail while I was locked up to show their support. We have so much potential for good. There is so much good in so many people.Four hours and 2 jails after I was arrested, I was let out. Again, I am so upset and sore it is hard to think straight.Keep up the struggle … I promise you, I will too.
Wheels on the bus go round and round
round and round
round and round
wheels on the bus go round and round
straight off of the cliff!
I despise what the zionists have done to Cindy Sheehan but the hypocrisy of liberals is obscene!
Where was the moral outrage when the Clinton regime murdered Americans at Waco and Ruby Ridge?
Viva La Raza Blanco!!
LOL @ Heckler
Two women were ejected for violating House rules about lobbying. One gets a lot of press and is outraged. The other acknowledges she broke the existing rules.
The one that is outraged is full of self righteous anger. She violated the rules and was evicted. Simple. It was not her message but the simple fact she was trying to lobby that is not allowed.
Congress has also exempted itself from the labor laws it has passed. Whether you agree or not is not the issue..that is the law until/unless it is changed. And all the self pity and whining is not going to change that.
Cindy Sheehan probably cannot beat Dianne Feinstein. The one thing she can do is point out the fact that her son put himself in harm’s way, while this war’s instigators, like the architects of Vietman’s invasion, evaded danger. Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld elected to NOT put themselves in harm’s way in Vietnam. I think it was Molly Ivins who said that Bush’s service in the Air National Guard was tantamount to protecting America in a new war with Mexico. There are women in service in Iraq. George Bush and Dick Cheney’s daughters are not among them. It’s okay to send OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN to risk their lives. But not your own?
George Washington put himself in harm’s way in the French & Indian War and the Revolutionary War. Andrew Jackson fought in the War of 1812. Teddy Roosevelt led men on the battlefield in the Spanish-American War. John Kennedy put himself in harm’s way. So did John Kerry.
Kerry was accused of “flip flopping”. Let’s see, acting on false information presented by the administration about Iraq’s possessing WMD’s, buying uranium-enrichment aluminum tubes, trying to get uranium from Niger, and Iraq’s sheltering al-Quaeda terrorists, Kerry voted as any patriotic representative would. But then the information was discovered to be false. So he changed positions. Flip-flopping? No, what he did is called rational behavior. Pro-war Kansans aren’t rational. They don’t connect the dots: if the true information was presented to Congress and the American people, the President and his handlers could never have convinced anyone to mount an invasion. Had they lost their own children like Mrs. Sheehan, do you think they might have a different position on the war?
The official reason given for Cindy Sheehan’s arrest was that it was illegal to demonstrate inside the house chamber. If that were the case many people would have had to remove lapel pins, etc. As I looked across the crowd in pictures it seems like the majority of people there were demonstrating in support of something. Even the president was wearing an American Flag lapel pin.
Cindy Sheehan was removed because of her message, not because of the fact that she was demonstrating. When Beverly Young was being removed she was explicitly told that “they had to treat her the same as Cindy Sheehan.”
As we now know, no rules were broken and apologies have been offered. Hopefully they will not be accepted quite as lightly.
Hey…Heartlander…how does Bush’s service compare to Clintons’?
Have I seen Chelsea Clinton volunteering for military duty? Have I seen any of the recent Kennedy clan in the military?
Seems your indictment is rather one sided, isn’t it? And yes, military personnel died while Clinton was in office as well.. and he never served a minute in uniform.
Two women removed for wearing “message t-shirts”. One supporting the war. One against the war. Only one was arrested. Show of hands, who was surprised at that?
The Capitol Hill police now say removing both was a mistake. There is no rule about wearing message t-shirts.
However, I personally think it’s crime to dress that casually at such an event.
SOMEONE CALL THE FASHION POLICE!!!
Sheehan will be the leading in Michael Moores next ‘documentary’. You know your a socialist liberal puke when…you think Hillary Clinton is a moderate.
You know you’re a Wingnut punk-ass troll when the poopie you throw always has to mention Michael Moore or Hillary Clinton. Oh, and also, when your misuse of grammar reveals you as ignorant white trash.
Ian Santiago,
Janet Reno offered her resignation over Waco, and Bill Clinton absolutely should have accepted it. I said that then and I say it now. It was an enormous, bungling travesty in every respect.
However, it’s a mark of how big a liar you are, Ian, that Ruby Ridge happened in August of 1992; Clinton wasn’t inaugurated until January of 1993.
All you Wingnuts can talk about the blinding effects of BUSH hatred. Give. Me. A. Break.
But facts don’t matter when Ian has his racist, child molester ‘god’ on his side.
Thanks for posting Cindy’s story CF. I guess the “liberal?” media missed it.
To those on the right who attack this woman who lost a son in YOUR war I offer an invitation: Go sign up and go fight your war. Don’t let age or anything else be a barrier. (you know, like Bush, Cheney, Rush et all did) Go sign up and fight! Sign up YOUR kids. See you are gonna HAVE TO. I done told the military you folks so badly use to stay the hell away from my kid. And I am far from alone.
Oh and Heck? (briefly suspending my ignore of you) If I’m driving the bus I will drive it over the cliff……provided of course that YOU are standing on the cliff. And quite frankly, you are.
Ian, CF,Regarding Ruby Ridge and Waco, yes, they were both badly mishandled, but does anyone even halfway sane expect the cops to not shoot back when fired upon? They made their own beds.
See the below news report that has not yet made it to the Eagle. Maybe people will not be so quick to sing praise for an arrest that was based upon the 1st Amendment Right.
It must be nice to willfully give up the freedoms we have and praise the government we have for taking them away. I would just bet that every soldier who has fought for this country and died for it would just shake their heads in disgust for those sorry patriots we have today.
So all you so called “American Patriots” who feel that the government is “Always” right and would not “lie” to you enjoy your world.
Capitol Police Apologize to Activist SheehanBy REUTERSPublished: February 1, 2006Filed at 9:09 p.m. ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Capitol Police dropped charges against activist Cindy Sheehan on Wednesday and apologized for arresting her in the House of Representatives chamber shortly before President Bush’s State of the Union address.
Sheehan, who became a central figure in the U.S. anti-war movement after her son Casey was killed in the Iraq war, was taken from the Capitol in handcuffs and charged with unlawful conduct after refusing to cover an anti-war slogan on her T-shirt.
The Capitol Police said in a statement that it had reviewed the incident and determined the arrest was unwarranted.
“While officers acted in a manner consistent with the rules of decorum enforced by the department in the House Gallery for years, neither Mrs. Sheehan’s manner of dress or initial conduct warranted law enforcement intervention,” the statement said.
Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer also apologized to the wife of a House Republican who was told to leave the chamber during Bush’s speech for wearing a shirt bearing words of support for U.S. troops.
Rep. Bill Young of Florida had condemned the treatment of his wife, Beverly. Young, who chairs the House Appropriations defense subcommittee, said on the House floor his wife was called “a demonstrator and a protester” for doing what Bush had asked of Americans: supporting U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq.
The Capitol Police statement said neither guest should have been confronted about her expressive T-shirt.
“The officers made a good faith, but mistaken, effort to enforce an old unwritten interpretation of the prohibitions about demonstrating in the Capitol. The policy and procedures were too vague,” Gainer said. “The failure to adequately prepare the officers is mine.”
Sheehan, who won wide attention with an anti-war vigil outside Bush’s Texas ranch, was attending the speech as the guest of Rep. Lynn Woolsey, a California Democrat.
In a speech on the House floor, Woolsey said Sheehan wore a shirt that highlighted the number of dead U.S. soldiers in Iraq. “Since when is free speech conditional on whether you agree with the president of the United States?” Woolsey asked.
“How can we claim to be fighting on behalf of freedom around the world, making the world safe for freedom when we are smothering freedom here at home?” she said.
The Capitol Police department said it would ask the U.S. attorney’s office not to pursue the unlawful conduct charge against Sheehan. The charge carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison.
Sheehan and other activists were arrested in September for protesting outside the White House without a permit, a misdemeanor that carriers a $50 fine.
What really gets me is that there are so many people here on this blog that know “exactly” what Ms. Sheehan was thinking and what transpired as if they were there!Come on give me a break. There are not that many “know-it-all” in the country and sure as can be or bet (oops that sounds like casino talk) they are not in the Wichita area or the Eagle circulation area. Point of fact just look around locally and see what type of people are leading the city and county government and you will have your answer.
“I done told the military you folks so badly use to stay the hell away from my kid. And I am far from alone.”
I’m guessing your kids will make their own choices, just like her son did. Nobody put a gun to my head and forced me to join the army. I did it myself and I’m glad I did.
Thank you for citing my quote Todd. I applaud your service. Do not mistake my reservations to my son joining the service as an attack on you or anyone who has or does serve. Rather honor them as a promise to you and others that choose military service that you will only be placed in harms way when absolutely necessary. That said Todd, I have a few questions of you.
Uh Todd? Are you posting us from Iraq or Afghanistan? Now I do not know your posts well as “Todd” is a new name here. (Of course, I have to take into account that “Todd” may be just one of many names you use. If you are such you already know. But if you truly are new here, well, we are accustomed to conservatives wearing many nics.
Todd? As much as I do not want any American lost in the bush debacle that is Iraq, your posts tend to convince me that this is a mission you would not only choose, but embrace. Am I wrong? I don’t think it would be too difficult for you to serve according to your convictions…..or explain why you are not.
Now Todd I know that as a soldier yours is not to question why. See that’s OUR job. That is what we OWE YOU. And that is why you should HONOR Cindy Sheehan above your obligatory oath to george bush. Your life is in his hands. That awesome authority is given him by US.
I’m not in Iraq RIGHT NOW, but I’ve been there.
The rest of your post is rife with assumptions about me and my opinion of this war. No, I don’t support this war. But you can bet your bottom dollar that if I was still in the army, I’d be doing my job and not whining about it. And were I to be killed in the line of duty, I wouldn’t want my mom dragging my corpse through the street as a political prop. I would want her to move on with her life.
I’m simply telling you that your statement that the military better keep their hands off your kids is completely facetious. The military hasn’t put their hands on anyone that didn’t ask for it in 30+ years.
Farmgrrl, I’m a little late back to the game, but I hope you’re doing okay. Both my parents are gone, and it’s a weird feeling.
We’ll be glad to see you back, but don’t sweat it. I have a feeling we’re probably not changing the fate of Western civilization here.
On subject: Cindy Sheehan has handed a gift to her right-wing critics. It’s one thing for a congressman to cut a deal with the man for Venezuelan oil. It’s quite another to hug the man.
Chavez is an example of a man who champions the poor while wrecking democracy and ruthlessly crushing his opposition. He was duly elected, and shouldn’t have been overthrown for that reason. But his modest reforms have come at a heavy price.
See what you liberals are!? you’re a bunch of fucking no-good commie loving traitors! If you hate America so much why don’t you move to Venezuela so you can have your asses fucked by that Chavez dictator! You fucking liberal pukes wont stop until all America is an openly gay commie nation! This Sheehan bitch is only proof of your ideals! Fuck You all!! I hope you fucking die and rot in your commie graves! Fuckers!!!!!!
It seems that if you disagree with the goverment you are a “Fing” commie. It seems to me that those who would suppress the right of every patriot to dissent makes them the “Fing” commie. I being retired military know what my oath was-to defend and protect the Constitution from jerks such as above who would deny others their rights. By the way take your language elsewhere commie!

Capitol Police Apology is “Crock of Horse Manure”
By Cindy Sheehan
I just saw the below “apology” on MichaelMoore.com…thanks Eric!
This is the biggest crock of horse manure ever.
Everyone is saying how “wonderful” it is that they apologized to me.
Look at a few things they said: My “initial” conduct wasn’t enough to warrant me getting arrested.
None of my conduct was. I didn’t yell at the officer, or call anyone an “idiot” like Mrs. Young did.
Secondly, it states the Mrs. Young wasn’t arrested because she didn’t “return to the gallery.”
Why did they arrest me? They didn’t even give me the opportunity to leave the gallery.
They had fours hours to figure out that I didn’t do anything wrong. The Capitol police tried the tactic of smearing me and lying about me when I was in jail to the media. I guess they didn’t count on the Reuter’s reporter who was sitting right next to me.
They also started lying about me when I was in jail, I heard a female officer say “She took off her jacket and threw it.” And Mike Weight, who arrested me, said I “stood up and started yelling something.”
The Capitol police could not support their lies, that’s why they apologized.
That’s the only reason.
