More details about how badly FEMA, state blew it

Internal Federal Emergency Management Agency e-mails given to Senate investigators show that hundreds of available trucks, boats, planes and federal officials went unused for search-and-rescue operations in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina because FEMA didn’t give them missions, the Associated Press reported. E-mails also show that Louisiana’s health emergency preparedness official told the federal Health and Human Services Department two days before the hurricane landed that the state didn’t need help in evacuating hospitals and nursing homes after Katrina hit, AP also reported this week. Unfortunately, the mismanagement continues, as two FEMA employees were arrested last week for accepting bribes from contractors.

Look, BushCo called those hospitals and nursing homes and ordered them to tell the Feds that they didn’t need any help evacuating. Bush wanted those people to die horrible deaths. That is obvious to anyone who reads this blog and watches the national news. Geez…

Joe,No, Bush is totally guiltless. It was not his fault that he appointed a political crony to head up FEMA. A person whose job experience involved show horses and not emergency management.

Bush is the victim of unfortunate luck. He has no responsibility for his decisions and anybody who insists that he should have accountability is just a “leftist” pig. Thank you very much.

It’s what happens when you put unqualified people into those positions. He seems more concerned with taking care of his friends, giving political favors, and surrounding himself with “yes men” than delegating to competant people that can handle the responsibility of their appointments. The next 3 yrs can’t go by quick enough for me.

If you are depending on the government to take care of you, you deserve whatever you get.

Todd,How did you come to “get it” so completely? Why there are still people out there who think the government is supposed to work . . . It’s just pathetic, isn’t it?

Steven E – the government does 2 things well. Kill people, and extract money from people’s wallets. It’s always been that way. Why do you suddenly expect anything different? Because somebody you don’t like is president?

Todd,I used to hate our president, but I have come to see the error of my ways. It is now my mission to help the Libs on this blog see where they are so wrong about our great leader.

You may not know this, in fact I hope you don’t, but I used to give money to John Kerry. I’ll bet that bastard used my hard earned cash to give his parrot French lessons. Can you believe how stupid I was?

These poor libs just don’t get our great leader’s goals. If they would just wake up.

CF, Jed, XXX, Sum1, flike, and you most of all, ProudLib,let me tell you it feels so much better when you stop beating your head against a brick wall. See, your problem is – is that you expect our president to do the exact opposite of what he is planning on doing. Government is not supposed to work – why witness the brilliant insight of Todd above – government only kills people and steals from them. Do you people really want that to happen???! Surely not.

You need to be self-reliant. It will help your pitiful self-esteem. I don’t need the government. If there is a fire at my house, I have hoses. If criminals come to get me — why I can get guns and buy my ammo at WalMart. If you guys would just wake up — you’d see the light. The “ownership society” is in your best interests.

Remember a 100% unemployment is a doable goal. We’ll all be better for it.

    Viva la Bush!!!

I wasn’t aware there was such a thing as a United States Fire Department, Steve. I thought that was within the purview of your locality.

That’s all right, continue with your obtuse rant.

  10. Posted February 1, 2006 at 11:15 am | Permalink

Todd,I forgot to tell you, but I used to think that John Kerry evacuated more intelligence out of his bowels each day, than Bush ever possessed in his lifetime.

How could I have been so misguided?

  11. Posted February 1, 2006 at 11:28 am | Permalink

Todd, brother in arms, I am hurt that you are referring to my postings as obtuse rants. Obtuse? What do my hard earned insights have to do with geometry. Oh tell me, please!!!

And if you won’t be so kind as to toss me scraps of your great wisdom, do you suppose you could get Nathan to come rescue me??? Pleeaase!!!

Steven,Like I said, he makes a good case for anarchy. Do any of you, in your hearts, really feel that what we have is better than no government at all? You certainly resent paying for what we have, and under anarchy, once in a while by accident, justice will happen. That’s an improvement right there!

  13. Posted February 1, 2006 at 12:55 pm | Permalink

“United States Fire Department” – that was a good one, Todd. Thank you ever so much.

Does your post mean we only hate the Federal government? Surely, we are letting the citizens down if we take it easy on the local varieties of government. Right? Wouldn’t such a position water down the message of personal responsibility by our great leader?

I am sure you know better than me, though.

  14. Posted February 1, 2006 at 12:59 pm | Permalink

Jed,Didn’t our great leader Bush once say that “anarchy is another word for nothing left to lose”; or was that somebody else? Being a conservative is kind of hard on my former “cheese eating, surrender monkey” brain. But, I am sure if I practice hard enough, I will get it right, eventually.

Todd,You’re not self-employed? What would our president say about that?

  17. Posted February 1, 2006 at 3:54 pm | Permalink

The FAA contributes nothing to flight safety. The FDA doesn’t help at all to insure that drugs are safe. The USDA doesn’t help make sure that that can of string beans doesn’t have botullism toxin in it.

Todd, if there were any justice in this world, a tornado would level your house and your insurance company would file for bankruptcy the day before they cut your check.

But life isn’t just, which is why arrogant bastards like you can get away with blaming the victims.

BTW, your mean-spirited comment to FarmGrrl on the death of her mother is probably the most despicable thing I’ve read on this blog.

Congratulations, you win the despicable post award.

PL – I’m sorry to see that, like Steve, you are living such a miserable life. Don’t worry about my home in the event of a tornado, I saved money in the event that I need to buy a new one.

I didn’t say anything to farmgrrl, so I don’t quite know what you’re referring to there.
