Kansas House Republicans’ newly announced agenda for the session includes one modest measure we’ve proposed before that would mean a lot to cash-strapped parents come August: a three-day sales-tax holiday on clothing and school supplies. A dozen or so states have these holidays, which can have a Christmas-like effect on store sales. And as targeted tax cuts go, it’s one with an immediate impact on consumers’ pockets.

Kansas needs to exempt food from sales taxes like many other states. Sorry I don’t have the statistics on this.
Actually Kansas should get rid of Income and property tax and just have sales tax.
I was shocked when I went to register my vehicles here. It is higher than California, and I didn’t think anywhere was higher than that. On top of a state income tax that is equally high.
And yet Kansas is 50th in spending on parks (today’s paper). What do they do with all that cash???
Joe I think it would be OK to have all three if they would set up the property tax so that every increase would need a vote same as sales and income taxes.I don’t like it but property tax would be OK if it were fair.

I thought I read/heard that Kansas was one of the costliest states with regard to vehicle registration. Does anyone know where we rank — I was thinking it was number two. Couldn’t easily find the answer with a google search.
Our money goes toward important legislation like “conceal & carry”, “banning gay marriage” — important governmental acts like those done for us by the Borad of Education — important things like that.
I just heard we’ll be required to pay state income tax next year on state income tax refunds given this year. They do enjoy getting us coming and going.
Illinois residents obtaining a license tag for their vehicle pay a flat fee, no matter how expensive or old a car is. Most people coming to Kansas from another state experience culture shock…in more ways than one.
