President was captive audience

Fog forced President Bush to travel from Topeka to Manhattan via sport-utility vehicle rather than by helicopter, putting the president knee to knee for an hour with Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Sens. Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts. As Bush got to know the Flint Hills, which he reportedly loved, Sebelius got to bend his ear about matters such as the nightmarish Medicare drug benefit rollout (he reassured her Kansas would get its $1.3 million back) and her concern that his new budget may include reductions in National Guard troop strength (he didn’t reassure her). Especially because Bush seemed surprised to hear about the Medicare woes, this seems like a case of Kansas’ capricious weather doing well by Kansans for once.

Bubble boy finally had to talk to somebody other than Condi and his mom.

The man really should get out more.

President Bush seemed surprised to hear about the Medicare woes?

You have got to be kidding me. Surprised by Kansas woes, “blue state” woes, or woes in general?

I can’t believe that the President was not able to cite book and verse about Medicaid/Medicare dual coverage problems, by county, in Kansas (we’re a red state, ferpetesake). Good grief, the only value the Bush administration has found in Karl Rove’s famously complete, county-by-county database is vote counting?!?!

*Sigh* Well, if true it would fit the pattern, but it’s still boggling just how freaking inept these guys can be. Sheesh.

The Flint hills are way better than any parts of Texas!

Way to go, Guv. Wish I’ld have been a fly on the ceiling on that ride.

In anyone really surprised that he was clueless about the Medicare problems or about all the Kansas Guard equipment that DoD refuses to replace? That GroupThink bunch NEVER allows news of problems to trouble their leader.

    Ben….

Nope..not surprised at all. What did surprise me was the way he sounded like Forest Gump a couple of times.

Would be funnier if it wasn’t sad…

“Especially because Bush seemed surprised to hear about the Medicare woes. . .”

Remember when Bush 41 during the campaign of ‘92 expressed his awe at the supermarket scanners and voters concluded that he really was out of touch.

How can anybody live in this country and NOT know there has been trouble implementing the new Medicare plan? Impeach him and send him packing for Crawford!

Bubble boy forgot when he sold the old folks down the river to big pharma, that unlike the poor, these people VOTE.

    Bring on 2006.
