Having heard President Bush’s reasonable call at Kansas State University on Monday for a temporary guest worker program for illegal immigrants willing to do jobs Americans don’t want, Kansans will hear from the opposite end of the conservative GOP spectrum today. Immigration critic Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. (in photo), will address the Kansas Republican Assembly in Topeka. Tancredo, who successfully pushed for the House to pass a tough enforcement bill last month, has likened illegal immigration to a “raging river” and spoken of an unconstitutional proposal to deny citizenship to babies born in the United States to undocumented immigrants as a “damn right” idea.

This is the same inDUHvidual who said that if terrorists attacked us again, we should “nuke Mecca.”
These are the kind of sick pukes the Republican party has somehow managed to get in office.
Why not call this republican split what it is? Schizophrenia is not a leadership quality. No wonder this state is so confused. We continually wonder which personality Sybil with show up with in Topeka.
Rhonda,
You are wrong about immigration as usual! The offspring of illegals have no constitutional right to automatic citizenship or anything else!
V.L.R.B!!
Dear Rhonda,
Have you noticed lately that there is no dabate between the democrats and the republicans? The republicans have ideas and vision for America and are acting on them. The only meaningful debate is between the moderate and conservative republicans. The democrats merely whine and complain, no ideas.
Get used to a “GOP of two minds”, the democrats are mindless.
Hank
For instance, the “nuke Mecca” idea.
Why haven’t we heard more about that Republican idea?
We ought to nuke Damascus and tell them Mecca is next.
We should at least warn them first.
Hank
I prefer the Black Jack Pershing method myself.
Mark – your hatred is sounding like Ian!
Well, I’ll probably get nuked for this, but I agree with Hank. Tell the Islamic terrorists that the next instance of terrorism will lead to the distruction of Medina. If they do indeed commit an act of terrorism, carry out our promise. Make it clear that a second act of terrorism will lead to the vaporization of Mecca….and MAKE IT STICK!!!
You guys are sounding just a little intolerant of terrorists. Be careful, you may hurt their feelings…
LOL!
Can we send them Fred Phelps and his clan first?
and the next time a Christian terrorist does something anywhere in the world we should nuke Bethlehem.
Bethlemen is a little dirt water town full of muslims wondering where the tourists went.
I think that a daisy cutter would suffice. No sense in wasting a nuke.
Hank
Ben…You realize that Bethlehem is a Palestinian city don’t you?
Amazing, the corrupt narco-terrorist state of Mexico has sent of tons of drugs and millions of racially and economically useless non-White immigrants and Bush does nothing! The Mexican military has made 200+ incursion into our sovereign territory and the idiot “conservatives” want to NUKE Syria and Iran to benfit the filthy zionists, unreal.
Viva La Raza Blanco!!
good point sam – maybe we should nuke Salt Lake City and/or the Vatican
Hank – many of the Palestinian residents of Bethlehem are Christian. As you undoubetly know, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi (a high official in the PA) is Christian.
Back to topic – the reason Republicans have so much trouble with this topic is their desire for cheap labor they can exploit. Where would the packing plants in western KS be without that cheap labor?
If we really wanted to make the world a better place then we would nuke Mexico City and Tel Aviv! Israel, jews in general and Mexico are the biggest threats to America.
Viva La Raza blanco!!
Dear Ben,
I’ve been to Bethlehem. It’s not safe for tourists to go there now.
And, there’s not as many Christians there as you think.
Most of the inhabitants of Dresdin were Christian. Gentle people, making fine china.
Are you trying to make a point?
In the words of my hero, I was merely demonstrating an absurdity with an absurdity.
Hank
Not knowing who your hero is I can’t comment on that part.
I agree that Bethlehem is unsafe; it is ruled by thugs.
Dresden was a part of Germany; as such it became a target in Germany.
I, too, was making an absurdity in regards to nuking a City for the sins of a person who presumably is of a particular religion.
Dear Ben,
We need to be very careful. We are both so absurd we might qualify to be WE editors!
Hank
Ian,Do I hear you volunteering to strap on some high explosives and go suicide bomb a cactus in the Sonoran desert? Be my guest!
Jed,
I am an SSPX Catholic not a muslim cultist so suicide is out of the question. I will however head down to the border with my .50 caliber assualt rifle and pick off a whole mess of wetbacks if the try to invade my country.
V.L.R.B!!!
In other words Jed; Ian is not a MUSLIM cultist, he is an SSPX cultist!
BH,
Islam is an apocalyptic death cult, the SSPX is the true Catholic Church, got it?
V.L.R.B!!
HAHAHAHAHA!
Yeah cultist Ian, I got it!
I’ve read here about bombing Mecca, about the Republicans desire for cheap labor (Yep, blame it all on the Reps) but not much on why illegals come over here.
We complain about the job market, prices, moving jobs overseas, but I haven’t seen anything tying them together. Could it happen to have anything to do with the fact they are taking jobs we think we are just to good for? Or maybe just too lazy to take?
Does anyone realize how much money immigrants ship out to their families every month? The work is back-breaking, doesn’t pay well (but thanks to Caesar Chavez, pays better), is seasonal in most cases, and constitutes work Americans don’t want to do. If congress stops, or attempts to stop, all immigration, who will do the work? What will the cost of your next head of lettuce be? With Americans looking down at such work as being beneath them, what would become of our farming communities? Sell the land, put up condos, and become a service only nation? Somebody ain’t thinking this through, and it ain’t just the Republicans.
Maybe if the Liberals could, for one minute, get off their high horse, quite bitching about everyone and everything, and think this problem out, they might be able to come up with a viable solution; something they used to be good at.
Hell Walker, let’s just install screen doors along the border and put up sign-in sheets. Maybe some coupons for free flying lessons. God forbid you should have to pay more for lettuce.I don’t believe stopping ALL immigration is even a serious discussion. How about we just stop the “illegal” immagration?
Hey, whoeveryouare, how about a solution? Heaven forbid you would have to actually think instead of spouting something the border patrols have been trying to do for decades. Try thinking the problem through for a change instead of coming up with your typical smart ass remarks.
It won’t be just lettuce that will increase in price: most produce, meats, and other item that has immagrants in the mix. Then what? Do you start bitching about labor, prices, unfair Government regulations? What is the solution? What is viable? What do you think?
You are capable of thought, arn’t you? You Liberals used to be real good at thinking out problems and coming up with workable solutions, but lately, all you can do is moan and groan. Why do you think you lost congress? Give me your intelligent ideas, not your usual blather.
I agree Walker – we need to develop some sort of fair “guest worker” program for those wanting to work. As a “liberal” I see this as good in that it will limit the level of exploitation that unscrupulous employers can do. From another perspective I see this as making a better delineation of “legal” and “illegal”
Thanks, Ben. Great way of looking at the current problem.
I have been a fan and supporter of Ceasar Chavez since he first came to prominence with the grape boycott in California. He was able to win major concessions from both the state government and the growers. While life for the workers isn’t great, it is lightyears ahead of what it was prior to Ceasar.
A better delineation of legal vs illegal, along with a comprenhesive gueat worker program, would do wonders for the economy. Plus, give the INS a better database to work from so the legal workers won’t be hassled so much.
There you go, anonymouth, ideas and responses. What have you got to offer?
Walker, with all that blowing, I didn’t see you offer any ideas or solutions, either. I did however, notice how quickly you latched onto someone elses idae.My idea would be to put the National Guard on the southern border and stop ANYBODY from crossing illegaly. I know, some people have problems with stationing troops along the border, but INS has botched the job completely. There’s a reason they call it a “border” and not a “freeway”. It’s not meant to be crossed freely by just anybody that takes a mind to. I don’t think it’s too much to expect that the authorities know who’s coming into the country. If we could get control of our southern border, maybe we could also slow down some of the drug trade and human trafficing?Walker, you seem to have a problem with my blog name. If you’ll peruse back through these blogs, I don’t think you’ll find where I’ve been involved in any troll-like behaviour. And I doubt if “J M Walker” is your real name, either. You’ll also note that I haven’t lowered myself to childish insults or name calling. So if you wish to continue this discussion, how about trying a little maturity?
Okay, “anonymous” , I will agree with you on this point: There are very few, if any, who use their own names here. And I will put spin on those names, if I please. If you take it personally, who cares? Unless your real name is “anonymous”, I’m hardly addressing you, now, am I? So where exactly does “Maturity” enter the picture when most everyones name here is phony in the first place? Feel free to call me anything you wish; this teflon screen can be wiped clean with the touch of a mouse.
But you missed my point entirely: I gave out quite a list of problems, and asked for the liberals to come up with viable solutions. What I got from you was put in a screen door and a sign in sheet (in jest, I assume), and stop the illegals. Where were the ideas in that response?
Ben gave his opinion, and good one I thought, and I agreed with him. You got a problem with that? Because I offered no ideas does not mean I don’t have any. But my IDEA was to get some intelligent discussion going on immigration problems and their possible solutions.
Your idea about the National Guard has been passed around for many years. The problem with it is the border is too large to cover with just the guard and/or the immigration service. And I dont think that is the proper solution. I think part of the solution can be traced to right here in this country. We have a much better economic outlook than do the mexicans. We either make it impractical for illegals to come into this country, by, as Ben says, delineating the legal/illegal status, or start meddleing in other countries affairs and attempt to bring their standard of living up. And you know where that tactic leads.
Ideally, Americans would be willing to do the menial labor the immigrants seem so willing to do, making illegal immigration not worth the effort. But we don’t seem to want to lower ourselves to that level. And that, in my opinion, speaks volumes for the phony sense of superiority we like to project.
OKay, I’ve put my two-cents in on your idea, and gave mine in return. Anywhere else this can lead?
“And I will put spin on those names, if I please.”So much for a dignified discussion with you, huh?”Unless your real name is “anonymous”, I’m hardly addressing you, now, am I?”Are you saying you weren’t addressing me?Let’s try to have a grown-up discussion, shall we?
Still, I think a military type solution is worth consideration.”The problem with it is the border is too large to cover with just the guard and/or the immigration service.”That’s what military patrols are for. We can put 160,000 or so troops in Iraq, but we can’t scrape up the manpower to protect our country’s borders? I’d think protecting this country would be some kind of priority, wouldn’t you? Agreed, that can’t be all there is to it. Maybe enforcing current law would help, like penalizing employers who hire illegal aliens.
“Ideally, Americans would be willing to do the menial labor the immigrants seem so willing to do, making illegal immigration not worth the effort. But we don’t seem to want to lower ourselves to that level. “IMHO, I think a lot of that has to do with being able to pay illegals sub-par wages. What are they going to do? file a complaint?”And that, in my opinion, speaks volumes for the phony sense of superiority we like to project.”Please explain that statement. You lost me on that one.
Dear Ben HuieWhat about the packing plants, the labor isn’t cheap, and they pay everyone the same, the problem is the lazy anglo’s in Western kansas would rather draw welfare from the working class than put in an honest days work.
I am going to assume by welfare you mean subsidies for big ag. That is the biggest welfare check in Kansas. Gotta support that irrigation. And I know the aircraft industry receives no subsidy, and I know you are against subsidies for your non-competitive airlines.
If there are so many lazy people in the west drawing welfare, how come SRS closed most of the offices out here? No traffic?
I wonder as a percentage of population how many draw welfare in the east than the west if you draw the line at Salina. And if you call assistance for individuals welfare and subsidy for business to be economic stimulus.
If you wanna see a day’s work, come to western kansas. Your skinny, bigoted ass will be dragging before 10am.
Anon,I hardly think “grown-up discussion” and phony names are synonymous, but if using your phony name in a derogatory manner bothers you, well, all I can say is, get a life. I have no idea who you are, what your actual beliefs are, whether or not you are indeed writing what you believe in, what religion, or non religion, you practice, what music you like or dislike, and I could care less. If your real name were John Doe, or Jane Smith, or something of that nature, than I would not assume to be presumptive in denigrating your name. And entering into an intelligent discussion on anything would , or should, be a given. But as long as you, or anybody else, including myself,, feels it necessary to hide behind a phony moniker, than maybe either a sense of humor, or a thick skin should be in order. You want a real “grown up discussion’? Quit hiding behind an “anonymous” name. I guarantee: Bush already knows who you are anyway:-)
As for using troops as a border patrol, I have qualms about that. I believe that was tried in the San Diego border area and it resulted in a Mexican American youth being shot. I may be wrong about the area, but the incident happened.
And I agree with you 100% in that we should be protecting our borders rather than striking some foreign country under false pretenses.
“IMHO, I think a lot of that has to do with being able to pay illegals sub-par wages. What are they going to do? file a complaint? “
Actually, yes they are. Or rather the legal ones can and do. Stopping the use of illegals should be number one priority, as it takes jobs away from legals. The penalties for using illegals are a joke. Make the penalties strong enough that a business caught using them will find that it is not worth it to hire them.
As for the pay itself: How many out of work Americans are there, and how many of them are willing to do the back-breaking work the LEGAL aliens are doing, regardless of pay? I sure did not see them standing in line waiting for work when I lived in San Diego.
“Please explain that statement. You lost me on that one.”
That is very simple: We have been brought up in a land of plenty. The “ME” generation expects everything to be handed to them. While the majority of Americans are hard working, honest people, the element of doing menial labor, such as what the legals do, has been frowned upon by society as a whole. It has been cast for what it appears: fit only for foreign elements, such as legal and illegal aliens. That is what I mean by “superior attitude.” And to me, it rings as a phony one. But that is my opinion.
The next time you fools open your mouths about Americans not being willing to do certain job look at the miners who labour under horrendous conditions. All of those miners are WHITE Americans!
V.L.R.B!!
Illegals are a huge financial drain on our economy. These “people” also soread disease, destroy our hospitals and schools, they join gangs, rape and deal drugs and in every way turn America into a third world slum! The only solution is a wall and troops and the border couple with mass deportations. If the government won’t do the job then WE will.
…”Federal Deficit: The average illegal alien household receives $2,736 more Federal services than it pays in taxes. (See Table 1.) Since there are at least 3.8 million such households, the total drain on the federal budget is about $10.3 billion. [Steven A. Camarota, “The High Cost of Cheap Labor: Illegal Immigration and the Federal Budget,” CIS, August 2004]
These are conservative estimates. CIS assumes, for example, an illegal immigrant population of 8.7 million (the official Census Bureau figure) versus 10 million assumed in the deportation study. VDARE.COM’s D.A. King, later supported by other researchers [PDF] puts the illegal alien population as high as 20 million.
State and local deficits: The comprehensive immigration study sponsored by the National Research Council [The New Americans: Economic, Demographic, and Fiscal Effects of Immigration, 1997] examined the fiscal impact of immigrants in California. While it did not explicitly compare illegal and legal immigrants, the NRC research staff found that the average immigrant household generated $3,823 more state and local spending than it paid in state and local taxes. (See Table 2.) Using California as a proxy for the national average, I estimate that illegal aliens increase state and local deficits by about $15 billion annually.
American worker displacement effects: There are roughly 7 million illegal immigrants working in the U.S. – about 3.5 percent of the labor force. Each 1 percent rise in U.S. labor force due to immigration reduces native-born wages by about 0.35 percent, according to George Borjas. [PDF] It follows, then, that illegal immigrant workers reduce wages of U.S.-born workers by approximately 1.2 percent (3.5X0.35).
If politicians don’t care, they should. Assuming native-born federal, state, and local tax payments fall by the same percent, native workers cough up $26 billion less taxes due to unfair competition from illegal alien workers.
Total fiscal benefits of deportation are thus estimated at $51 billion per year—$25 billion in deficit reduction and $26 billion in foregone displacement losses.
At this rate, mass deportation would pay for itself in about four years.
Plus, of course, we’d get America back.

You go Walker!
Walker,
I agree with you and we should kick the mainly black welfare spongers off the dole and get them to do the job that the third worlders are doing.
V.L.R.B!!
What about the mainly white irrigation, business subsidy, and corporate welfare queens? Or do they get to stay on welfare?
I would end all corporate welfare as well. Our corporate culture is in the same ethical and moral sewer that our political sytem resides in and that needs to change.
I favor capitalism with honor but I despise cronyism, corporate welfare and no bid contracts!
V.L.R.B!!
Walker, ksfarmgrrl,Oh, ganging up on me, huh?LOL!And I see Ian has joined forces with you.The Three Muskateers.
“Walker, ksfarmgrrl,Oh, ganging up on me, huh?LOL!”LMAO . . . but please, the third dude, I can do without:-)kfg . . . don’t even get me started on corporate welfare, irrigation subsidies, et al. I tend to see red whenever I think about that, and believe me, it ain’t red state thoughts.
Hell we should start our own blog on water alone. The day will come when water is more expensive than gas, and it will happen because people are too stupid to see it, or do anything about it when they do. Politicians love it because it stays under the radar. Clean water is an American right; heaven forbid we don’t get it. Arggggg!
Most of this thread seems to be off topic.
The subject was illegal immigrants.
Th biggest and dirtiest lie in the whole debate is that “these folks do jobs Americans won’t”
Ummm Question????? These jobs USED to be done by Americans. SO clearly Americans were willing to do them. What changed?
Quite simply, illegals provide employers with cheap labor. As a side benefit to paying these folks far below substandard wages, their Ilegal status makes them the ULTIMATE DREAM labor force for the greedy folks on the right. If they complain or protest not only can they be FIRED like any real American, they can also be deported.
I’ve an answer I’ve not seen anywhere else.
First; put bounties out for reporting those who hire illegals and the illegals themselves.
Next, the “anchor babies” have got to go. The legislation to deny citizenship to children of illegal immigrants is WAY over due.
Grant tax breaks for busisinesses that can PROVE after thouough investigation that they are not hiring illegals.
Cut off all delivery of mail and telex between the US and Mexico. No more American money going south. No more commuication for the families of the illegals.
Given the spirit of international interferece evidenced by current forign policy, address human rights and democracy in Mexico. This should be done up to and including military action. Our funds are FAR better spent improvig the lot of the people just south of our border than 7,000 miles away in Iraq. O by the way? Mexico has oil!
Last…..but far from finally…..organize work camps on the border. All apprehended illegals will be fed and sheltered there. They will be employed building border fortifications. When these are complete they would be re-patriated south.
C’mon Walker, I think the guy likes you! Maybe he just wants a friend (I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have any).Don’t feed him and maybe he’ll go away.
I have many friends, a terrific wife and five lovely children. Why don’t you post under your full name as I do, coward?
JR,Your ideas are so over the top that even if there were a good one in the mix, I would ignore them all . . . and I am.
Ian, you don’t want to know me. Trust me, you don’t.
Ian, I’m not convinced your nsme is real. Post an address and phone number. Maybe I’ll give your wife a call. ;)
XXX,
You should watch your mouth around me!
Ian, sombody is having us on. I didn’t post that. That sounds threatening, and I don’t do that on the blogs.
XXX,
If that was not you then I apologize, it is just that I do not take kindly to threats.
I also assume X didn’t post that stupid comment about nuking Mecca.
