Ethics rules need tough enforcement

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., cuts to a core problem with much of Congress’ newfound zeal to clean up campaign finance and lobbying limits: “We’ve got a Federal Elections Commission that is corrupt, and we’ve got (congressional) ethics committees that aren’t working,” McCain said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” He noted that the FEC sought to poke loopholes into the McCain-Feingold reform law and otherwise has balked at holding violators accountable. Any new rules and regulations aimed at cleaning up Congress will be worthless with the existing enforcers.

We also need to close the loophole for Indian Nations to contribute to campaigns. Abramoff exploitate that loophole big time.

Congress isn’t going to clean house until the voters make them! Next time you go to vote, find out who your congressman’s in bed with, and not be concerned about how much (of your own)pork has been tossed into your district. Your vote is worth more than that!

If we had tougth enforcement of ethics and campaign laws, John-the-war-hero-torure-doesn’t-work-unless-its-used-on-me-McCain would still be in jail with the rest of the Keating Five.

It’s pretty bad when you can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t make a better president.

Regarding the “Keating Five”, the special council concluded that of the five, McCain and Glenn were not involved in the scheme. The Democrates wanted McCain to be a target because he was the only Republican in the group and they wanted to avoid the impression that the scandel was only a Democratic problem.Of the “keating Five” only Cranston was censured.Being accused of something doesn’t mean you’re guilty, Hank.

There’s something I’d say here, but I just found out I’m supposed to meet with McCain in three weeks.I’ve begun practicing for the event by talking to the walls. The walls are probably better listeners.

We could use some cleaning up here in Kansas too with the information about all our “anti-gambling” legislators being funded by out-of-town gambling interests.

Move along folks, nothing to see here. We’re going to get a lot of pious pissing and moaning, and maybe some more toothless laws. But if you think anything is going to change, I have a bridge I KNOW you’ll be interested in. There’s too much money involved, and everybody has a price. Everybody.

Ian Idiot,”McCain is a traitor and a fool who needs to be beaten with a baseball bat.”

McCain was beaten with a baseball bat you sub-human freak. He’s more of a man than your tender little boy tush could ever hope to be. Walk to the florida coast, continue out into the ocean for about a mile, sit down on the ocean bottom, and wait for something good to happen, like a great white shark snarfing your empty head.

Unless I can get him to see things my way, I don’t.This isn’t selfish…if McCain could just see past his campaign contributions, he could help create 700-1200 new jobs in Arizona…and another 100-350 jobs here in Wichita.

In the reconstruction south, state and county politicians were often civil war veterans who had lost an arm or leg in the war, the theory being that a one armed man could only dip one hand in the till, and a one legged man couldn’t run fast enough to get away with government funds. Now those voters had a realistic view of politicians!Ethics in government are always professed but seldom practiced. Enforcement is what’s needed, and not by the politicians.
