Former Westar Energy CEO David Wittig got what he deserved Tuesday when he was sent to federal prison. Wittig has already been convicted of looting Westar and of conspiracy, bank fraud and money laundering in an unrelated scheme. But he was out of prison while awaiting an appeal. Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson said that numerous financial transactions by Wittig and his wife, which appeared to be aimed at shifting and hiding Wittig’s assets, were made without the court’s approval, a violation of the terms of his release. Will this guy never learn?

They should stick him in a REAL prison with some REALLY ugly cellmates. I’m sure they would take real good care of him.
He was trying to hide millions of dollars of his assests by shoving them into his wife’s accounts. I guess he thought the federal prosecutors wouldn’t notice. He is not very smart, and he has no shame.
This is great but they had better start locking up those who hire illegal immigrants!
V.L.R.B!!
Yup, that’s why he gets the big bucks and votes Republican.
About time. Now what about Wittig’s partner, Mr. Lake? Also what about members of WESTAR’s board of directors who let this situation happen? And names of private individuals who traveled on WESTAR’s jet plane at expense of ratepayers and/or stockholders.
He is a slime and deserves prison. Has nothing to do with gender, voting record, ethnic background or age. He is a convicted felon and needs to be treated as such.
LEAVE HIM ALONE! HE CONTRIBUTED TO OUR CAMPAIGNS! HE IS A GOOD GUY!
Right, Ray, just like Delay, Frist, Ney, Taft, Ken Lay, Abramoff, Wally O’Dell, Scanlon, Duke Cunningham . . . all either Republicans or big Republican financial backers.
Party has nothing to do with it–pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!
Galahad, may I add something to that?
“When a utility executive questioned why he was contributing to Republican congressional candidates he had never heard of, the answer came back loud and clear: The donations were requested by GOP leaders who were helping the company win an exemption potentially worth billions of dollars.
Financially strapped Westar Energy was seeking “a seat at the table” of a House-Senate conference committee on the Bush administration’s energy plan”
“Key Republicans, including House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, denied on Thursday there was any connection between the exemption and donations which amounted to tens of thousands of dollars from the Topeka, Kan., conglomerate and its executives.”

With republicans, if it’s not one damn thing, it’s another!
Thanks, XXX.
Republicans sure spend a lot of time DENYING things these days, don’t they?
By they way, were you the one that said Ian and Ed were the same troll?
Because you were right. I scrolled through past posts and sure enough they were posting within minutes of each other 90 percent of the time.
A lot of it was that “zionists taking over the world” line, which now I’m not sure that Ed/Ian actually believes.
Could quite likely be pure troll-ing just to jerk our chains.
IAN AND ED ARE OFFICIALLY SHUNNED.
No. Responses. Ever.
Nope, I NEVER said anything about Ed being Ian. I don’t believe that for an instant.
Galahad, your crown is crooked.
And you just crossed the line.
What line, XXX?
Well, somebody said it awhile back, and I didn’t believe it, but then it hit me today.
Did you see the case I made or are you shooting from the hip?
“Ed” said the other day that blacks in New Orleans drown because they could swim with all the chains they stole.
Who does that sound like, XXX?
Cold somone post what prison he is in? I want to give him an official Executive pardon and have him appointed to the Yale University board of directors so he can teach future Presidents how to spin private wars, inflate oil prices, and run energy companies!
Surely, they will put him in the new marriott facility over looking the gulf built especially for upper republicans, won’t they? The ones where you can keep your assessets invested and have a portfolio manager with a computing department stay on site with you?
Please let me know which Marriott he is in?
Dubya
Galahad, Ed DID NOT say blacks in New Orleans drown because they couldn’t swim with all the chains they stole. He said “prisoners”. Are you saying “prisoners” = “blacks”?
“Who does that sound like, XXX?”
Not who, but WHAT.
What it sounds like is, you made a mistake that calls a man’s integrity into question. In polite circles, that would require an apoligy.
If not a mistake, a liblous slander, which would demand an apoligy.
If not a mistake or a slander, an outright lie. Liars don’t apoligize.
“Galahad, your crown is crooked.”
LMAO!
Way to go XXX! It’s about time somebody took Galahad’s bloated ego down a notch.
Anon–you could puncture my bloated ego, you could deflate it, or even squeeze or squish it, but you can’t take something that’s bloated “down a notch.” It’s called a “mixed metaphor.”
Do you and NoJo ever actually post things or do you just wait to find fault and nit pick?
(Answer: it’s the latter.)
XXX–Here’s the actual quote that “Ed” posted in response to my assertion that prisoners in New Orleans were left to drown.
“Actually, they drown while stealing more chains than they could swim with.”

Everybody knows that NOLA is a black majority city and we’re talking about mainly black prisoners left to die.
And you’re asking ME to apologize.
Go Cheney yourself.
I remain convinced that Ed and Ian are one in the same. I think the troll behind these posts gets off on fooling people.
We take him seriously because we take our own views seriously.
That’s how he plays us . . .
“Everybody knows that NOLA is a black majority city and we’re talking about mainly black prisoners left to die.”
That wasn’t what we were talking about at all, Galahad. Black had nothing to do with the discussion. You’re out of context.
To assume prisoners were obviously black is pretty racist. You made an accusation you can’t back up.
That makes you a racist and a liar.
And you’re not man enough to apoligize.
What a monumental ego.
Okay, well, think what you will . . . I went back to the original post and that’s how it looked to me.
Anyway, I still believe that Ian and Ed are the same guy. They write differently and that’s part of his game, to throw us off the scent.
He got sloppy and started posting using both his aliases back to back. That’s when it became obvious.
My alleged pomposity and ego have nothing to do with that fact.
As such, I will not be reading or responding to Ed/Ian any more.
Esod and Hank btw are unquestionably the same person.
Drop the cat fight, girls, and get back on post. XXX mentions that Westar was cash-strapped. It was, because Wittig and Lake were busy looting the place, making horrible investments, living high off the hog and paying themselves in any possible way. Prison might, but probably won’t, do anything for Wittig’s arrogance. Let him do a few years and maybe he’ll get the point.
Madder, we can hope he does time in the general population of a REAL prison.
Don’t forget that the Board of Directors approved everything. They should also be held accountable.
And some of those directors were big-shot Wichita businessmen. Also, Wittig/Lake forced some of the directors out who wouldn’t play their way.BTW, the gen pop of, oh, say, Leavenworth, sounds just right.
Ben, I think side by side cells would be appropriate…at Lansing! That way, they could listen to eachother scream as they “get to know” Tyrell (Steven Segal’s “friend” by way of explination before anybody screams racist because the name wasn’t Arthur).
Put a minicam in the shower and beam the images to Board Rooms across the country …
“Okay, well, think what you will . . . I went back to the original post and that’s how it looked to me.”
Galahad, that’s probably the way it would have looked to me if someone was calling me a stinky fat girl.
You’re not the first person Ed has gone of on. Ed isn’t the first person who’s gone off on you.
Consider:If a man puts his hand in the dish while the dog is eating and the man gets bit, Is it vicious dog or foolish man?
Ok, now I’m worried because I understood that one.
Mep, please don’t post right behind me. No offense, but I don’t want to be accused of being you.
Mephysto is like a dumpster behind a Chinese restaurant.
Full of cookie fortunes mixed in with the chop suey.
Confucius say, “What is the sound of one hand slapping you up side the head?”
To insult one who gives you no insult is to curse the wind. It lacks meaning and takes little thought. Bad form from one who fancies himself leader.
Nothing in the world is as soft and yielding as water.
But for dissolving the hard and inflexible, nothing can surpass it.
The soft overcomes the rigid, the gentle overcomes the hard.
Everyone knows this is true, but few can put it into practice.
*****
There’s the real thing, Mephysto.
Now . . . go Cheney yourself.
Sigh. . . “soap opera”. . .Tracy got that right.
I find Mephysto amusing and harmless. Lighten up, dude.
I would need more evidence to presume Ed was Ian, like something more than one ambiguous quote and a discomforting common affinity for the word “Zionist.” Otherwise, their attitudes and views are quite different. That doesn’t rule out an alter ego thing, but. . . why?—–
Blessed is the peacemaker.
Peace be with you, oh leader of none.
Many thanks friend Rage. Frendship is a thing of value. May your light shine for others.
I hope I never have federal charges against me; I would so much rather have to face State charges. The Feds have all the time and money in the world and it does not bother them to grind you into the ground like you are a bug.
The apparent fact that Witting did not catch on to this does not say anything good about his brains.
I recall seeing in the Eagle many years ago, two crime stories which were next to each other. The first one was a in-home care-taker who was involuntarily chemically restraining the woman whom she was supposed to care for. A woman who apparently did not in any way need this type of restraint. This went on for over a year. The perp in this case got 6 months of probation.
Next to the above story, a bank employee embezzeled $1,000 from a bank – she was sentenced to do 3 years in federal prison. Hers was not a crime of violence, but her victim was a lot more powerful than the victim above.
Justice in America.
Being as how Galahad and XXX are one in the same, can this battle of wits have any outcome other than total schizophrenia? Personalities for sale or rent, heads to let for fifty cents.
Jeez Walker, you really know how to hurt a guy!
Jeez XXX, what fun is life if ya can’t throw a stoner once and awhile?
Off Topic:I posted on a different thread:
“Hank and Nathan were busted because they are the only two people who would sign their name in their post. A Post showed up with either a Nathan or Hank in the post and a “posted by: the other” outside of it. That was convincing evidence of trollism.”
Recall that Nathan did not sound much like Hank at all. Nathan would do that bit of “provide some proof for your claims” like “how can you be sure that the sun will rise in the east tomorrow – prove it.” That was about his only song and one I am sure he acquired from “Rush Limbaugh’s bag of tricks in annoying Liberals.”
Hank and esod have similar ideologies, but I contend they write differently and I suspect that Hank has more education, though he does have some consistent trouble with vowels and spelling. Never seen these things with esod. Can’t rule it out, but I don’t think they are the same people.
I have followed some of the links that Ed is especially proud of, they are the same type of rants that appear here, but are posted on internet versions of english langange arab newspapers. They list his home town in Texas. I don’t agree with Ed’s positions and have told him my reasons. I think he holds his near-delusions on the basis of sincerity, rather than trollism. I believe Ian is a white-supremacy jerk and if he wasn’t so annoying I’m sure I could pity him. Can’t rule it out, but I believe Ed and Ian are not the same people.
Steven,
I am a White Nationalist not a supremacist; if you don’t know the difference then you are dumber than most!
Viva La Raza Blanco!!
Classic example of a distinction without a difference.
Steven,
The difference is substantial but you are not bright enough to comprehend.
Viva La Raza Blanco!!!
The one thing Galahad is definitely correct about, Ian, you are not worth responding to. Go play in the highway. Please.
Steven or whatever your name is, did you send me an e-mail?
Ed,Steven E. is my real first name and middle initial. I have never sent you an email. I remember some sent to you that shared with the blog that were especially vile. I have since wondered if the one you shared is really by the person whose name was attached — I am kind of not thinking so.
I am not sure what you are referring to, but I have seen your letters to the editors at papers around the world that you have linked to here.
Different names, same people; different names, different people. Kind of interesting, but you wonder how useful this is sometimes.
Steven, I do not use other names, nor have I shared an e-mail with this blog. I have complained about some mail, but never linked it to this or any publication.
What are you talking about?
I could be wrong.
Ed works awfully hard to be a troll, I’ll give him that.
I mean, before my head gets bit off, that he works too hard not to be sincere.
So . . . I’m starting to reconsider.
Especially since I’m now aware that FriedEmann is not Jewish.
Steven E, Nathan is Hank’s son. I may not be the brightest on the blog, but I’m a master of detail. I caught it long before I exposed it because of a slip Damoon made. She knows both of them. I didn’t expose it till I had proof. Nathan posted on his dad’s computer and Hank didn’t check the email address before he posted. Hence, Hank’s signature and Nathan’s email address. They’re not one and the same. But the post by esod that triggered the Hank/esod theroy was strange. esod started a post with “gentle people”. That was a Hank favorite. Other than that, they don’t sound much alike.
But it’s kind of specious to be trading accusations about using different names. It goes on here and one of the loudest accusers has posted under a multitude of names.
Oh, thank you, Mr. Master of Detail.
What would we do without you to set us straight?
Gal, If you have legitimate concerns, I’d wouldn’t mind helping you to straighten-out your thinking.
These accusations you’re tossing around about me are groundless, but as stupid or “high” as you appear to be, that’s understandable.
Whatever you’re smoking, get your money back, because it’s bridge-mixture, you know; “horse-shit and splinters”
Good for you, Galahad. Ed’s posts may not be to our liking, but I believe he’s sincere. He just marches to a different drum.
“Oh, thank you, Mr. Master of Detail.
What would we do without you to set us straight?”
Well Steve, without some guidance, at your level of intellect I figure you’d probably bump into stuff.
Personally I think that anyone who takes the time and trouble to create an extra alias would have to be a bit deranged. I mean. . .why? This is already about as anonymous as it gets. Maybe to have schizo arguments with themselves or something. . . .
I’m hoping we can put aside our disagreements and unify under one banner: dislike of Ian and Steve!
Oh, and let’s not forget that jerk Rage!
Hey!
XXX, you’re right. Nathan is Hank’s son, and I know them because they’re my neighbors. I DO suspect that esod is Hank, because of some comments he made to me regarding something that Hank would know about me.You’re a good detective!!
Well thank you Damoon! Like I said, not the brightest, but I notice details. And I can put things together. Do you remember the exchange you had that gave Hank and Nathan away?
XXX said: “Good for you, Galahad. Ed’s posts may not be to our liking, but I believe he’s sincere. He just marches to a different drum.”
Would agree with the above, wholeheartedly.
“Steven, I do not use other names, nor have I shared an e-mail with this blog. I have complained about some mail, but never linked it to this or any publication.”
I am pretty sure you did link an email that was sent to you at home, I presumed. It was pretty vile. And, while none of us here are perfect, the person whose name was attached to it, I don’t believe would have sent it.
It was a long time ago when I saw it. It kind of got me on your side. Even though we disagree.
Maybe I could find it if I looked for it.
But that will have to wait for another day, because this is night for “Lost” and “Invasion” – gotta get my low-brow entertainment in sometimes.
XXX, I probably can, there were quit a few! I do have to say in Hank’s defense, that he is a great neighbor, and even though we may be worlds apart on our beliefs and opinions, I do consider him a friend.
Damoon, I’m sure Hank is a great guy in real life. His sense of humor is a classic. Too bad he’s so wrong so much of the time.
XXX, too bad he’s beyond hope, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks (Just kidding, Hank, you know I love ya)!
