“It’s not very realistic in rural Kansas to talk about closing schools and putting a second-grader on a bus for an hour to and from school,” Gov. Kathleen Sebelius told the Harris News Service last week. Such consolidations also aren’t politically realistic. That why Sebelius and state lawmakers need to focus on consolidating school administrations. More school districts — both in rural and urban areas — should share superintendents, clerks and accounting systems.

Typical ‘Sebelius’ smoke screen response. No wonder Sebelius can’t (and won’t) solve the education problem. She doesn’t have the Executive Intelligence (read book by the same name) to focus on core issues and root causes. Like the State budget, there is waste and efficiencies in the Education local and state budgets that could be used to increase teacher pay and quality education for students. But, until the Executive in Charge (Sebelius) decides to put her personal agenda (re-election, veep) behind her and focus on what is best for our children, she will continue to make stupid observations like those above and will never have the clarity to set a efficient and effective course of action.
