New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (in photo) suggested Monday that hurricanes Katrina and Rita and other storms were a sign that “God is mad at America.” The day before, Indianapolis Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt (who badly missed a potential game-tying field goal) said, “I guess the Lord forgot about the football team.” It’s God’s fault that there are storms and that New Orleans was built below sea level with shoddy levees? Or that a football kicker choked? Maybe the University of Kansas should blame God for its recent basketball losses.

I can’t believe that a God of mercy would scourge an entire city, the good and bad alike, to teach it some kind of ambiguous “lesson,” so without the broader context, it sounds to me like Nagin is kind of a flake to bring it up.
Some points should be made about the situation in New Orleans. It was the Army Corps of Engineers who were responsible for the levees. It was the Army Corps of Engineers that made the policy decision to strip New Orleans of many square miles of wetlands protection. It was the Army Corps of Engineers that made decisions that caused New Orleans to subside to a level below sea level.
If God (Gaia) is mad at anyone it is the Army Corps of Engineers.

I don’t agree with the way Ray Nagin phrased his opinions, but he’s one of the first black leaders that I know of that suggested the black community needs to take accountability for many of their cultural problems and work on solutions themselves. Ben, I was wondering when someone would bring that up. A lot of decisions about what is in the Bible were made long after the times of Christ. There are many gospels that were left out and today, we have no real idea or reason why. Why was the gospel of Mary left out? how about the gospel of Philip? King James shredded writings about Enoch.

If you could come up with a reasonable answer consistent with the Creation story as written then perhaps I would not dismiss that story. After all, if everything in King James is supposed to be literally true then everything should be consistent and explainable.
Damoon: At risk of butting in here, Nathan is handling this situation very well. It is not as if Ben Huie has asked a question that can’t be answered. Nathan is also right that Ben appears to be more interested in debating than learning. Until that changes, answers would be wasted on him.
So, what is the answer? If it can be answered so easily then just answer it!
Ben: You are a smart person. You know that you can go to any number of easily accessible Christian websites that will give you detailed explanation(s) that are consistent with scripture. There are at least two different ones. You see, Christians don’t always agree on interpretation of parts of the Bible. However we do agree on the starting point of Christ crucified.

In Mk 13:32, Jesus says that he does not know everything that the Father does. Yet, it is claimed that he is of one substance with the Father. You can’t have it both ways.
Jesus condemns as adultery ther very temptation to adultery. And by temptation is meant the deliberate consideration of committing a sinful act. By extension, I guess we must assume that the temptation to sin is itself a sin. Yet, Jesus was “tempted” by Satan..the Bible doesn’t say that “Satan tried to tempt Jesus”..it says “Satan tempted Jesus”, implying that Jesus deliberately considered the sinful offer. How then, can Jesus be without sin, when the man who is tempted to adultery has already committed the act?
Oh, and while we’re at it, why doesn’t someone explain the fact that Herod died in 5BC and that the first census of Quirinius occurred about 16BC (and the second about 7AD I think?), so that the birth date of Jesus is only known to perhaps 25 years at best. Makes a hell of a difference in the rest of the fable.

It takes having dealt with evil face to face to know how it looks, sounds, acts and reacts and Phelps and his hate cult defiantly fall into this category. Now, I do believe it is time for some explanations here.
Long ago (28 years ago to be exact.) I was young and stupid and wound up in a dark arts occult group in Bountiful, UT. This started with Tarot cards and ended up with me pledging my soul to the horned one. My Mum and I had (Mum passed away in 1993.) always been able to do things that others would consider magic but was just a matter of playing head games with those that ticked us off or who we felt deserved a little payback. This lead to getting involved with those that worshiped the dark one.
Mum started when she was 7 years old (She was tricked into it.) and she was not able to break free until she was in her early 20s. The people that tricked her were those that served the dark one. She got out of that mess, but it cost her A LOT and the dark one kept making stabs at getting her back. Then I got mixed up in the same thing at 20 and it took Mum 8 years to help me to get out from under the dark one’s thumb as well and I have thanked her each and every day for her help.
If you think WICA worships the dark one, you would be wrong. They worship peace, love and nature. But, But and then again BUT! If you think that the dark one lets go without a huge fight, you are deluding yourselves again. He has tried on countless occasions to get his filthy claws on me. The last three times were in June of 1995, April of 1996 and July of 2003.
On each occasion I had a heart attack due to collapsed arteries that needed stints to keep them open. On the first round in 95 I died 8 times on the street and the table and the attending Doctor was not going to give up on me and kept shocking me to keep me going till the collapse could be repaired. This took a total of 30 minuets and during this time, the horned one made an all out play to get me back and it wound up in a face to face battle. None the less, I won that battle, but not without scars.
The second round came in 96. I had a horrendous motorcycle wreck in which ½ half of what made me male (Most men will get this one.) was ripped from my body and destroyed. I was in a coma for about a month and a ½. During that time, the dark one made another play for me and this time it was a battle that any soldier in Iraq would quake in their boots at. I emerged from that battle bloody, bruised and broken but never bowed. I won but at a whopping cost.
My wife left me due to the accident because in her words “You are no longer a man.” “You are a thing and I need a MAN!” After she left me, my Doctor informed me that “The damage can not be repaired in the male end of the spectrum.” “You can either live your life as it stands now OR the damage can be repaired in the female end of the spectrum.” “Any way you slice it, the choice is up to you.” “If you pick the female end of the spectrum, you will need to find a state to move to that will be safe for you to live in because this state (Washington State.) is not a safe one for people like you are now.” I recommend that you move to Minneapolis, MN.” “They have laws that protect Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgendered people and I am sorry to say, you now fall into that category.”
So, rather then live in-between the two worlds of male and female, I moved here to Minneapolis, MN and had Sexual Reassignment Surgery (SRS) to repair the damage on September 19th of 2000. It was during this surgery that it was discovered that I was born BOTH male and female when the Doctor found atrophied female organs where they belonged on a woman and that the vaginal opening had been stitched closed when I was born.
This prompted him to do a chromosome test on me while the surgery was in progress and the results came back that my chromosomes were XXY! This meant that I had been born both male and female and that someone (Most likely the Doctor attending my birth.) decided I should be male and took matters into his own hands. What the heck did I as a two day old infant in 1957 have to say about the matter.
Seven months after my SRS, a friend who was tending to my Mum four months before she died told me how Mum dropped the bomb on her, three of my friends and Mum’s Attorney how I was born Hemorphadite (The new term is Intersexed.) and my own father ordered the Doctor to stitch the female portion closed because “I don’t want no f***ing freak for a son!” Then when he divorced my Mum when I was 5, he and the Air Force ordered her to keep her mouth shut about it to me.
When her Attorney asked her why she was speaking up now and was not afraid of what the Air Force might do to her, she said “What the hell are they going to do to me after I die?” “Dig me up and plant me UNDER Fort Levenworth?” Just do not tell my son about this UNTIL and IF he finds out about it on his own.
Well folks, GUESS WHAT? I found out about it on my own. So all five people she told about it told me. Believe me, I WAS NOT a happy camper for a year after that. I felt betrayed. I always thought my Mum and I could talk about anything and that she would have told me about something as important as this. But when you boil it down to hard facts, my father (A card packing member of the KKK.) was and still is the root of the pain I suffered up to this point. But all in all, I am very happy to be all female now and I would never change that fact.
Now we come to the heart attack in 2003. Another artery collapsed and another stint was placed in me. During this surgery they knocked me out for the procedure, then the Doctors stopped ½ way in-between the procedure to give me more anti-coagulant and change Doctors. They put me in a recovery room alone and doped to the max for an hour. It was at this time that the horned one made ANOTHER play for me and I almost did not win that battle.
So, between all the fights with the horned one and dealing with what my father did to me, I think I am eminently qualified to recognize the face of evil when I see it. And believe me. The Phelps Hate Cult and the other religious nut cases like them are as evil as they come!
None of us can afford to stand idly by like sheep and let this evil continue to run unchecked! Ignoring them and others like them and hoping they will all go away will only lead to our destruction. It is time to stand up, be counted and say “ENOUGH!” ” You will no longer degrade the funerals of our loved ones with your hateful pickets or words.” “You will no longer picket the schools of our children and force them to be locked in their classes to protect them from you.” “You will be confined to your hateful little compound until you all pass from this world and your children and grandchildren will be placed in LOVING foster homes and learn that there is more to offer them other then HATE!”
Let us all stand up, stand tall and stop these hate cults dead in their tracks. WE DO NOT NEED THEM OR OTHER CULTS LIKE THEM!

There is a perfectly legal way to stop Fred Phelps and his hateful cult from taking their sick pickets all over this grand country. If only anyone would show some guts and implement it.There are laws in every State that allow people to be locked up if they are proven to be a danger to themselves and others.
Every where they go with their hateful and vulgar signs, stomp and urinate on the American flag and spit their hate, there is always SOMEONE that either makes a lunge to beat the crud out of them or actually tries to kill them in one way or another. They send their people (99% of them are his family in one way or another.) out in teams to do all this hateful junk.
Among these teams, are the Phelps CHILDREN and GRANDCHILDREN! These poor kids have been raised hearing and living NOTHING BUT HATE 24/7/365. And now these stupid, hateful things are using these children as SHIELDS! They honestly think these children need to learn this hate and that no one would ever think to attack them with children in their ranks. WRONG! Each attack on them that has happened, the children are front and center for them to hide behind!
They are not only a danger to each other and innocents around them, BUT TO THEIR CHILDREN AS WELL! SO! When they come to town, implement the law that allow people to be locked up if they are proven to be a danger to themselves and others. Then place the children in foster homes where they can learn that there is something in life other then hate and hateful pickets.
This is how you can legally shut them down. All you need now is some State that has the guts to implement the law that is on their own books.

That’s one angle, reporting to child protective services that they are endangering their children. I wonder if it would work? Right now the state is working on legislation that would set 300 ft boundries and limiting the time they can protest. I don’t think it will have any trouble passing.It’s just sad that no state offical thought this was necessary until they started protesting at soldier’s funerals. It went on way too long before that.
I just heard on “NBC’s” “Today Show” that Caretta Scott King died today. I greave with her family! She was a great woman that lived by love, not by hate and is a great loss to this country.

I agree that Fred Phelps is totally off the wall. He takes the Bible and distorts it for his own agenda. It’s a shame he can’t take all that energy and use it to help people. The best way to work against him is to have his “church’s” (I use that term loosely, his organization in no way resembles any church I have ever attended) tax excempt status removed. It is a pity that he can pretend to have a church and have the same excemption that real churches do. His organization really is a terrorist organization.

Well folks, That BB brain phelps bunch say they are going to be here this Thursday the 23rd in Anoka, MN for the funereal of Cpl. Andrew Kemple. The Patriot Guard will be there and I will be there with the guard as well to protect the Kemple family and friends from these black hearted fools.
I read a news story on BB brain’s hate site and the reporter stated that the phelps bunch are begging for someone to give them a sound beating and one of these days, they are going to get it. Please read what I have to say, I am trying to understand, really, just try to understand our side as well. I have been all around your site and am trying not to repeat what others say. But I feel strongly about this.
I’m sure you know this but supporters of GLBT rights are actually happy to see you rise up. The media has captured you and now everyone can see your message. But truthfully, the only thing your doing is to help the “FAG” movement to earn rights. Now Congress and God will see the discrimination and hate crimes that come about from protesters, not preachers, like you.
More people can see the ridiculous nature of your beliefs. You can hold any opinion you want, but your reasons are unfounded and ignorant. In order for your preaching to actually be considered by people, you must give a lot better reasons for what you’re doing. If not, people will just continue to right you off as crazy and mentally disturbed. I can’t understand why you think what you’re doing is in any way effective?
It is Insane for you to picket the funerals of brave men who fight to keep freedom of speech in our God Blessed America. These men help keep the rights that allow you to picket. Without them you would have been thrown in jail a long time ago.
