It’s not what you know but what politicians you know

More investigation is needed, but it looks as if Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., got caught using his AIDS charity to direct nearly $500,000 to his political inner circle, according to an Associated Press article. Frist’s attorney wouldn’t release the names of the charity’s big donors, so we don’t know whether they were people or corporations that had business before Congress.
Using charities, political action committees and campaign committees to funnel money to friends and family members isn’t a new trick. Earlier this year, Associated Press reported that about four dozen members of Congress hired their spouses and children for campaign and political work, including then-House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, whose wife and daughter were paid nearly $500,000.

Now, Phil, everyone with any sense know politicians glorify the almighty buck. So is the purpose of this post to give further credence to that fact, or are only Republicans included to show the faithful that you are indeed of the Democratic ilk?

Balanced reporting has no need to slant it one way or the other. So why slant it?

With the republicans in power for a couple more years and all the partisan mud slinging being the norm, I’m quite sure there are lots of competent investigators looking into every democrat’s finances. Evidently they just can’t nail anyone.

Tracy,Ain’t it the truth. But to believe there aren’t any democrat crooks out there is the height of nieve. If you are a politician, chances are you are a crook.

I love how the apologists for the GOP justify their corruption by saying “so’s your old man” rather than dealing with it. Face it, Frist is as dirty as they get.

There is a lot of stuff against Democrats, who conviently hire their own children to become multi-million dollar lobbyist.

It’s politicans. No matter the party, it doesn’t matter.

There are some good politicans out there, but what is ironic, its the ones that members of their parties of the extreme wing hates. Like McCain and Liberman.

Lest we forget John McCain’s role in the Savings and Loan scandal…Truth be told, the only reason why Republicans are getting all the attention can be found in the ancient question: if a tree falls in the forest and noone is there to hear it, is there sound?

Granted, a lot of dirt is being dug up on republicans because they are the party in power. But if there was dirt to be found on Democrats, you can bet the republicans would be screaming to high heaven about it. As J.M. says, they’re mostly all dirty; it’s just that the current crop of republican politicians has taken “dirty” to a whole new level.

While it’s true that politicans of both parties have crooks. The Repubs. are in power so they are in the spotlight more often. 2nd the repubs. place themselves upon a pestal, often claiming to be more patrotic, moral, christian ect. so when they do get their hands caught in the cookie jar they look even more shallow.
