Goodbye, Rummy; Hello, Lieby?

White House officials reportedly are saying that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will retire early next year. If so, good. He should have been sacked long ago for the disastrous pre- and postwar planning in Iraq.
The New York Daily News is also reporting that Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., may be a contender to replace Rumsfeld. Reportedly, Lieberman was considered for the United Nations ambassador’s job instead of John Bolton.

Let’s see, the GOP calls ‘em RINOs (Republicans in Name Only); Joe Lieberman has been a DINO for years. Just as well give him the job as SECDEF; he’s a neocon at heart anyway.

The pres should move Bolton into Rummy’s spot and have Lieberman as our UN man.I don’t think Lieberman would manage to be more than the White House pet democrat.

Iraq ….. We have no official plan and we are sticking to them!

Rummy was trained by Henry Kissenger during the Vietnam thing ….. on the best ways to loose a war …. and young American kids all at the same time.

Nixon and Vietnam and Bush and Iraq – they both started with lies and were run in the ground by the GOP! Who is in charge and how lost can we be?

I liked Rumsfeld. Going to miss him, he was one of the best DOD Secretaries we ever had.

Rumsfeld says the rumors of his death are greatly exaggerated.

If they want to perpetuate the fiasco, put in Lieberman. If they want any chance of solving it bring back Powell.

Of course BushCo wants to put in a Democrat NOW. Help spread the blame around after they FUBARed everything.

And little Joe is enough of a patsy to go along with it. What a snot puke!

The next couple of election cycles are not just gonna be revenge on Republicans. It’s also to gonna be cleaning house of their Democratic enablers.

Codie,If you were talking about the Persian Gulf War or Bosnia, you’d be correct. Because, indeed, those two conflicts were very short wars with few casualties.

The Iraq war does not look like it will be over soon.

Come on Steven, you know the war is over. Didn’t Bush say “mission accomplished”? All these casualties are just the mopping up operation, so they don’t really count.

I have always like those fallguy jobs. According to Rumfield, the only real part he played in the planning was to say “Yes Mr. President!”.
