It’s no surprise that the Arab network Al-Jazeera drives the Bush administration nuts, because its influence is so broad and its perspective often so anti-American. But a British tabloid has reported the existence of a memo indicating that last year Prime Minister Tony Blair had to talk President Bush out of bombing Al-Jazeera’s headquarters in Western-leaning Qatar. This memo likely is as credible as the phony CBS documents about Bush’s military service, but the story is causing more problems for Bush overseas.

“It’s not true, but it’s still bad for Bush.” Gee, thanks for the insight, Rhonda!!!
Why not invade Al-Jazeera’s headquarters? Our blockade of their broadcasts has been a miserable failure. They are obviously led by people who are not afraid to use WMDs (with the “Weapons” in this case being “Words”). They have purchased equipment for detecting radioactivity (TV screens can be modified to detect alpha particles), a clear sign that they are interested in obtaining nuclear material. And the staff is suffering under the yoke of a non-democratic management hierarchy. Might as well do PBS and the CPB while we’re at it.
If the memo wasn’t credible, would they pull the Official Secrets Act to prevent it from being printed?
It would seem more likely they are in damage control and they know that truth hurts.
Just what does our friend and ally Qatar think of how easily his ally would bomb their country?
Winning hearts and minds with censorship, military actions, and just plain bombing people who might air different views?
You wonder sometimes if Rhonda actually READS the newspaper.
Our troops already bombed Al Jazeera in Iraq and killed a cameraman stationed on the roof. A second memo has come out corraborating the first.
Conservatives just don’t want to admit that this down-home aw-shucks Texas sh*tkicker is a ruthless son of a bitch.
But he is.
And don’t forget about the tank that blew away the journalists on their balconies off their rooms in Palestine Hotel WHERE ALL THE JOURNALISTS STAY.
That’s one way to bring them around to your side.
Galahad,Well, the press has been at war with every administration! Usually though, the politicians are not so blatent about shooting back.
