Here’s a Kansas joke that isn’t: A fake headline at the online site The Onion last week declaring, “Topeka Mayor Now Highest-Ranking Non-Indicted Republican Official.” And actually, given the recent history of trouble at Topeka’s City Hall, another city might have been a better choice for the gag.

Why does the Eagle show tendencies to yellow journalism on their blog?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_journalism
Why not have the same standards on your blog, as you do in your newspaper?
Isn’t this just a cheap shot at all Kansas Republicans? How does this promote the public good?
Wikipedia? We don’t need no stinking wikipedia!
Or maybe the shot was at Republicans in general and Kansas Republicans look honest compaired to the national kind. Lots of people around here looking for silly reasons to be offended. The Onion is a satire site. Where’s your sense of humor? Get over it.
Or, maybe I should credit (relunctantly) Rhonda Holman with being clairvoyant:
Today:
(1) “Calif. congressman admits taking bribes” (a Republican)http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/13278504.htm
(2) “Taff pleads guilty to misusing campaign funds”http://ap.thekansan.com/stories/state/ks/20051128/3454982.shtml
But #2 above invalidates Rhonda’s title (that I didn’t like) .
