Go ahead — rev those engines!

Kudos to the local veterans and bikers who recently formed a motorcycle group, the Patriot Guard, to counter the Phelps clan’s ugly protests at veterans’ funerals.
According to an Eagle article, the group is growing fast and attracting members from across the region.
When the Phelpses show up with their hateful signs and shouts, the motorcyclists move in and block their view to ensure that grieving families don’t have to see or hear the picketing.
It’s good that the Patriot Guard has found a way to counter these fanatics in a dignified and effective manner. Loud motorcycles never sounded so sweet.

While I do think that something should be done to counter Fred and his gang, I wonder if this could get violent. Hats-off to those veterans. They do have their work cut out for them, because unfortunately Fred’s group is very busy and persistent.

We are also persistent. Patriot Guard groups are forming all over the country, which is a good thing, since the Phelps cult has also appeared in central California.

Violence? Hopefully not. The Guards are briefed before every ceremony, reminding members that one tactic of the Phelps cult is to try to incite people to violence so they can be struck. They then sue for monetary damages, which is one of the ways they fund their continue their cult message of hatred.

Block them with sound and American flags. Gotta love whoever came up with that one. The Guards greatly outnumber the cult every time so far.

Ray, I tip my hat to you and your buddies. Keep up the good (God’s) work and keep drowning out Pharisee Fred’s hate-mongers. And don’t worry when they call you a “Christain-basher” for your activities; I am certain the VAST majority of Christians are with you.

    Ray Thomas,

Speaking from the Christian Left, I’m happy to see y’all in the Patriot Guard putting American industrial technology to such good use.

    Gentlemen, start your engines.

I wish the media would stop giving any attention to the Phelps idiots. In the Eagle’s photo of the Patriot Guard, you can still see their discusting signs. The jerks thrive on publicity, to see them totally ignored by the press would at least take some of the wind out of their sails.

Ray, Thanks for the info on the Patriot Guard. It’s good to know that the group knows how Phelps’ gang operates.

Ray,Thanks! The cavalry gets there first, but we need more infantry to get between Phelps and his victims. Hope your efforts attract more people to help you out! Keep the faith!

Great job!! That guy is a grade A ass. One thing I don’t understand is how come these people don’t sue this joker. You have to pay (a lot) for the funeral so it shouldn’t be a public event, and if jackass wants to crash then why can’t they be arrested or sued?

They can be, and has been, but Phelps, being a disbarred and totally unethical lawyer, uses every dirty trick in the book to make it so expensive and unpleasant that suing him isn’t worth the little bit you could get from him. Still, somebody should find a way!

If I was attending a loved one’s funeral, I might worry about the noise, BUT, compared to hearing and seeing those hateful, ranting idiots, the sounds of Harleys would indeed be music to my ears.

Could this actually be something we all agree on? :-)

Maybe when Fred dies everyone should meet at his grave and throw a party. We could have signs that read ‘God hates dumbasses!’ or ‘Satan loves you’.

k,Let’s don’t descend to his level. I do think the gay community ought to present him with an award for all the work he’s done for gay rights, with his identification of anti-gay activism with the lunatic fringe that it is!

I’d still love to give Marg as taste of her own medicine.Maybe I wouldn’t protest at his funeral, but it would be cathartic to dance on his grave!
