George Will having his fill of anti-evolutionism

The Republicans owe their current dominance to the alliance between fiscal and social conservatives, and the power that represents at the ballot box. But events such as the Kansas State Board of Education’s science vote suggest the marriage’s days may be numbered. Consider the warning of a clearly frustrated George Will on Sunday’s “This Week” on ABC: “The Republican Party’s coalition — libertarian, limited-government conservatives with social conservatives — can hold together up to the point at which the social conservatives decide that in their campaign to build character and save souls, they’re not content to concentrate on the institutions of civil society and want to enlist the government in their crusade. When that happens, the coalition flies apart.” And arguing that intelligent design should be taught alongside evolution, Will argued, is no answer. “The president saying ‘Let’s teach both sides’ won’t work. There aren’t two sides.” Will is right. When will the rest of those on the right not just speak out but do something?

Not too many neo-cons are going to speak out, because as the boss said, ‘If you’re not with us you’re against us.’What a simple uncomplicated black/white world it is for GW.

Sooner or later, they’ll step on each other’s toes and that’ll be the end of it. Something Conservatives need to think about. When the religious right turns this country into a theocracy, which church will be designated the “state church”?

I said it long ago, the bedding of the Neo-cons and the R.R. was build on the idea on both sides. That they would be able to control the other. Whom is the bigger fool remains to be seen.

Neither had the power by themselve to gain control. But that means that once this bedding is undone. The control is gone, though the R.R. with their voting power will take longer to die. The Neo-cons will fall quickly to the shadows once again.

THAT IS, if the rest of America wakes up and reacts. If not, all non-beleivers and those that do not follow Terry Fox better buy there King James and join Immanuel.Else the stoning will start tomorrow!

Good grief Rhonda, give it a rest! The Eagle lost in the marketplace of ideas this time around. I realize the you folks are upset. But you are not changing anyone’s opinion on this, and elections aren’t for some time. You might want to keep your powder dry.

But on second thought, go ahead and get everyone totally sick of the subject.

writerdog..Methinks there are many on the WE blog already stoned!

XXX..Think about it.. the only church that has the size and power to attempt to become the “state church” would be the Catholic church. Christians such as myself would never stand for that. That’s why people came to this country in the first place.. it will never happen again.. at least not peacefully.

KSsam, you may be right about size, but power? The Catholic Church is pretty mainstream. I think we need to worry more about Baptists, especially the southern variety, and it’s not my intention to stir up any Southern Baptists, so please don’t come burn down my house.

Ks, you and your friends play right into the designs of the radical religious right; they claim you as supporters. If or when the take-over comes, what are you going to do if it’s not your church? How are you going to react when your rightie friends accuse you of being against God because you’re not fundamentalist enough? The republicans are bad enough now about accusing anybody who doesn’t agree with them of being traitors and against God. What’s it going to be like if the fundies take over?

xxx..Sir, they already have problems with what I do. But then.. Christ was hated by his own people, so I guess it comes with the territory! I have to admit.. I am a very fundamental Christian… so much so that I believe you are actually supposed to be Christ like..

By the way.. the Baptists lost their leader today. Look for a power struggle and possibly a split.
