Include Kansas Senate President Steve Morris, R-Hugoton, among those of us who think the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights is a misguided idea. Actually, “misguided” isn’t strong enough for Morris. He told The Eagle editorial board Friday that amending a one-size-fits-all budget formula into the Kansas Constitution is so outlandish that it makes his blood boil. “That is a disaster looking for a place to happen,” he said.
And contrary to what some local lawmakers told the Sedgwick County Commission, Morris said “it would be valuable” for the county to have an advisory vote on expanded gaming. If not, he said, there is a real possibility that other Kansas counties that have had votes would get casinos and Sedgwick County be shut out — the worst of all outcomes.

All the places that people want to live have the highest taxes.
Coincidence?
I think not . . .
As long as they are all over 100 miles away let them have our gamblers. And after a year the regulars can’t get there anymore because they will no longer have cars
Galahad! You want to elaborate on which states people are moving to that have high taxes?
Sedgwick County might be slow on responding to the gaming issue, but the rest of the state, including the Indian Casinos, Topeka, KC, all the ones in Oklahoma and the like do NOT want a casino in the Wichita area. They still want them bussed in from Wichita to their casinos.
Remember last legislative session, KC and Pittsburg Kansas has a bill to allow a casino to be built there, but put a moratorium to keep Sedgwick County from having one for 5 years.
The Conservatives and anti-gambling crowd in Sedgwick County are not the biggest pushers of keeping the Casino away. It is the rest of the state.
Also! We have been threaten by the lunatic Dee Stuart of Park City who said that “All hell is going to break loose” if a Casino is not built in her city. What a whacko! She is an embrassment! More so than Connie Morris in my opinion.
Of course politicians are against things like TABOR, it reduces their ability to buy votes.
The Eagle should do a study on who is for/against TABOR verses the amount of pork they sent back to their district. Won’t happen since the Eagle doesn’t ever find any pork in the budgets they don’t bother to review.
