Are juvenile offenders at the King’s Camp rehabilitation center better off being educated on-site or at an alternative school in the Goddard school district? That’s a local dispute that state lawmakers are wisely staying out of, despite efforts by Rep. Dick Kelsey, R-Goddard, owner of the camp, to get the Legislature to intervene.

Conflict of interest?
I don’t know if the education should be at Goddard or at the for-profit business. The decision should not be subject to political pressure by the business owner; let the profesionals at the Board of Education decide.
King’s Camp needs to hire it’s own teacher who is trained in special needs. The last thing the Goddard schools need is a bunch of junvenile delinquents dumped on them. Lake Afton Boy’s Ranch has it’s own teachers, let King’s Camp do the same.
King’s camp is a mess. At least it was a few years ago when our church rented some of the poor facilities for the day. I’ve never seen so many flies. Hopefully it has been renovated? Otherwise the kids would be better off in tents around a campfire. I’m surprised the Health Dept hasn’t closed it down.
It is obvious that Kelsey just wants to line his pockets even more with taxpayers money. Reminds me of the Newton couple.
Flies are the state bird. You don’t like it? Move!
