Pride runs deep at Wichita North High School, which is having a big party today to celebrate its 75th anniversary. And why not? Its notable former students include Barry Sanders, Lynette Woodard, Cramer Reed, Curtis McClinton and Martin Ortiz (the inaugural class of its Hall of Fame) — and, we’d add, Eagle columnist Mark McCormick. Its diversity is unrivaled in the state. And it’s recently seen great strides in student achievement under dynamic principal Denise Wren. Another thing now stands out about North, too — the attention to detail of the new addition to the historic building, down to the color of the brick and the pattern of the Native American frieze. Praise goes to the school district and bond issue architects for getting it so right. And to North High’s students, staff and alumni: Happy 75th anniversary!

No comments on this post. Did anyone here go to North?
You bet…and darned proud of it! Wish I could have gotten back to KS to partake in the great reunion party this weekend and see what marvelous changes are taking place on campus. Hopefully some of my children (also North alumni) will take some pictures and send them to me.
