No Katrina pork? Good luck

Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, likely is sincere in signing the “Hurricane Katrina No Pork Pledge” created by the watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste. But pork has become such a part of the appropriation process — and Tiahrt, himself, is quite skilled at bringing home the bacon — that the pledge is unlikely to curb Congress’ appetite for the other white meat.

It is the height of hypocrisy for “Tanker Todd” (Bush’s nickname for him) to talk about pork.

HAHAHAHAHA!No, Joe, I just like free enterprise and less socialism. You, on the other hand, rely on socialism for YOUR job!

Pork…sad state of affairs that it is indulged in by BOTH parties. Why? Re-election at all costs. Coming back to the district and being able to point at all the federal funds/jobs/ and improvements that have been returned to the district.

Neither party can claim sainthood on this one…the latest highway bill is an example of bipartisan pork.

We..the voters..are ultimately to blame for this nonsense. Elections are about money, not about voting records or positions in a lot of cases.

Porkbarrel politics is not an inevitable situation, but has grown. Voters WANT federal dollars returned to local areas. We reward the people that bring it home.

*sigh* Wish I had an answer…
