More evidence that Kansas is becoming a laughingstock

Bill Maher, as part of his “New Rules” for his HBO show, recently suggested that New Orleans should be moved to Kansas in an effort to loosen our state up.
He said, “You can’t tell me that the giant swath of red America that Kansas sits in the middle of wouldn’t benefit from thousands of insane Creoles who understand that hangovers only happen to people foolish enough to stop drinking. . . . It could use some jazz, some blues . . . some blacks.
“Yes, I see a shining city on a plain. New Orleans, Kansas. Where people are learning. They’re learning that a gay pride parade isn’t something to fear; it’s something to laugh at. So what do you say, Kansas?”
What do you readers say to that?

I am surprised he was so nice to Kansas…after all, he left out the way churches run this state (ignoring Constitutional separation of church and state). He left out the ‘Moral” groups trying to ban pornography; he didn’t go afterConnie Morris and Board of Education for creating a state mandated religion along with new levels of wasteful spending to attend “conferences”.

Yep, he was actually pretty mild, considering the idiocy that we bring on ourselves…

There are much better comedians than Bill Maher, but they can’t get air-time because they’re not Jewish. The zionists only allow pro-Israeli comedians on their controlled air-time.

    Ed,

As Maher has pointed out himself on innumerable occasions he was raised Catholic. So now you’ll have to resort to “the media and banks are controlled by international jewry”. If that is true..if 14 million Jews can control the other 7 billion of us, then more power to them. You’re such a pathetic example of a Jew. Must be all that christian blood that somehow got into the family somewhere long ago. Don’t deny it..Friedemann is a German Jewish surname and we all know that even one drop of Jewish blood means all kyke. Accept who you are and emigrate to Israel.

OH yeah….Kansas wants tourism, and figures that the adult book stores are hurting tourism. So that is another ‘reason’ to ban them.

Interesting…I have lived close to a couple of towns that have lots and lots of adult book stores and seem to do ok with the tourists. San Diego and Orlando don’t seem to have a problem attracting tourists and they both have hundreds of adult businesses.

Oh well….no surprise that Bill Maher and others make fun of this state…

XXX,I don’t know if Kansas was the last, but we had prohibition until 1948. I remember my parents pulling into a driveway in Riverside, passing money through a window and getting a bottle from the bootlegger.Oh, also, condoms were also illegal here until then.

Would seem you are overstating just a tad there, ‘dr’. The problem is not the mention of the word God, the problem is a Board of Education (and others) that wants to make the Christian version of history the “official” one. Regardless of the fact that there are many religions in the world that do not follow the Christian teachings. Regardless of the laws mandating separation of church and state. Regardless of the scientific evidence.

Nope..it is not paranoia about one word. It is deep and true concern about violation of laws and common sense.

Its not just mere possesion of Mardi Gras beads that get you arrested, it is the manor in one gets them that gets the one in trouble.(Show us your tits) If the planners of the River festival weren’t so naive they would have forseen this.

dr has an excellent point. Moral values were here first. Now the secular amoralists are forcing their values and non-values down the throats of others, not the other way around.

Arguments that morality wasn’t as good or as moral as you would hope are a red herring. It’s the striving and expectations that count. Society is chaos without them.

And I have to wonder how an “anything goes” society is supposed to be manageable without a police state. If morals are passe, and the only controls over human behavior are the laws, then the police state has arrived.

    Morality (i.e., self control)is freedom.

    Period.

That’s what I love about this country, if you don’t like the culture in Kansas, then you can easily find a state where the culture is more “progressive” and to your liking.
