Crony, get thee behind me

Good piece in Wall Street Journal by Randy E. Barnett on the real dangers of cronyism. Here’s a quote:
“Cronyism is bad not only because it leads to less qualified judges, but also because we want a judiciary with independence from the executive branch. A longtime friend of the president who has served as his close personal and political adviser and confidante, no matter how fine a lawyer, can hardly be expected to be sufficiently independent — especially during the remaining term of her former boss.”

Well, who besides this puny Alexander Hamilton said we needed independence amongst our branches of government? Thats what I’d like to know.

Holy mackrel, the WSJ Editorial page wrote something critical of Bush?

Even the man who brought tax cuts to the rich stepped into the steaming pile of pony xxxx this time . . .

Bush doesn’t care about anything but his own agenda. During an interview one time, someone asked him how he responded to his critics and those who don’t agree with him, his wife jumped in and replied “Oh, we don’t listen to them”. Hardly makes for effective leadership in the free world!

Randy, if I wanted the Daily Kos talking points I’d subscribe to them.

Remember Bush isn’t running for office again. The only way he can continue his dynasty is by Supreme Court appointments.

I’m going to enjoy watching the republicans tear each other to pieces over this. The Democrats would do well to just stand back and watch the melt down. To all the preachy fundamentalists…here’s George giving you your reward for supporting him. Looks like Bush has now screwed everybody but his rich friends.

XXX, he’ll get around to screwing his rich friends, too, if they become of no more use to him.

Conservatives are having a hissy-fit over the Miers nomination. The fundies think they’ve been betrayed (join the club, LOL). What is wrong with these people? Where were they on 9/11? don’t they realize we’re at war?!?!?1 By not supporting our president’s nomination the Supreme Court, don’t they realize they’re supporting terrorists? How many times have I heard conservatives say that only traitors don’t support the president? Why do conservatives hate America?
