The pinata party continues on Michael Brown, the former Federal Emergency Management Agency head who was forced to resign after Hurricane Katrina.
Facing a storm of criticism himself, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told Congress this week that he relied on Brown as his point person in the hurricane response. And he pointedly said that he didn’t agree with Brown that state and local officials were the problem.
Chertoff pledged to retool FEMA to make it better able to respond to massive disasters. With another big one approaching, let’s hope they get the bugs worked out in the next day or two.

I don’t even know what the ‘Bugs’ are anymore. I watched the coverage continuously for the first week or so. I was sure it was the people of NO fault, and then later believed the whole local government failed them. But FEMA, Red Cross, etc. were slow to get there, too. But somehow the national Media was there to record all this suffering. As it turned out much of what they reported was exaggerated or totally made up. This kept rescuer efforts at bay for many critical hours. This time, Randy, tell your cohorts that we need the truth or nothing at all.
The MEDIA’S to blame. Of course.
What Bush needs to do is appoint someone to run the country while he ignores his responsibilities.
Some smart Indian fellow from Bangalore could do Bush’s job for pennies on the dollar–and so much better than President Cuckoo-Bananas.
I say “outsource the presidency.”
Of course the liberal media is the problem. They’re the ones who kept FEMA and other federal agencies out of NO for so many hours preventing vital resources from reaching the victims. Why don’t you just blame Clinton while you’re at it? I’m sure with some further (minor or course) stretch of the truth you might be able to make that stick too. But for the love of God let us not put the blame where it belongs!! How dare we accuse the president of screwing up and placing an incompetent idiot in charge of FEMA? Just because he couldn’t manage a pony show doesn’t mean he can’t run a national agency. But still with all of the recent press about the emails and such, it is by no means Brownie’s fault or the presidents. They are the victims here.
You two totally ignore the news don’t you.
Actually we probably pay more attention to the news than you. The real news, not the right-wing joke that is Fox (or most of the other TV news services for that fact.) Perhaps you should learn to read and not rely on Hannity or O’Reily for the news.
So you folks haven’t heard that the urine waterfall was bogus, nobody has admitted any raping in the shelters or shooting of any rapist, or murders, etc. Perhaps you will at least admit your normal liberal channels haven’t followed up on any of the scandalous crap that was reported? If you don’t watch Fox or “(or most of the other TV news services for that fact.)” Who does that leave? Moveon.org? AlJezera?
Urine waterfall? Can’t say as I ever heard that one, Joe. Did you make it up? As for watching Faux News, why would anybody with half a brain watch that? But most of what you refer to was reported by conservatives to further smear the poor blacks who got stranded in NO (they’re a bunch of savages, right?)Get a life, Joe.
Interesting, I was talking about the emails sent to Brown by fellow FEMA workers. Perhaps you heard about those? You obviously know how to read, you just don’t understand much of what you read. Which would explain why you don’t know of any other place to get the news other than TV.
So you admit the only news you get is from the daily Dumocrat talking points. At least read the Eagle or stay away from their Blog.
WOW… 2+2=5, at least according to your logic. You should really work on your reading comprehension. Or at the very least do your part for the future of America and promise not to reproduce.
Is Brown the same FEMA guy who mishandled payments to largely unscathed portions of Florida after Frances last year?
Idiots
