Brownback’s ready for his close-up

Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., again got star billing in the national media after Harriet Miers’ pullout Thursday as a nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court. He’s the go-to guy in the U.S. Senate for what conservatives think, and a key member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He’s also seeding that likely 2008 presidential campaign with trips to many a primary battleground state and frequent appearances on the Sunday talk shows. A Rolling Stone profile is even in the works — though The Kansas City Star didn’t wait to do this cover mock-up of Brownback as rock star. But as Larry Sabato, a political scientist at the University of Virginia, told The Star, Brownback’s electability remains in doubt beyond “the Ivory-soapers, those who are 99 and 44/100ths percent pure. Can he attract the 90-percenters? Or will they drift to someone else with a better chance of winning?”

Who would you like to see run, RD? I haven’t figured out who the best canidates would be, I’m just hoping the next 3 yrs passes quickly and this nightmare of an administration will be over and done with.

I hope Brownback gets the R. nomination. There is no way the majority of this country would vote for him. He has said way too many off the wall things. Dems should support his nomination, it is in their best interest.

I hope that Brownback gets the R nomination. Nothing could be better for the Dems. How many crazy things has Brownback said? Too many to count.

I would like to see more biographical information about Senator Brownback in the EAGLE newspaper. Basic things. Such as did he ever hold a regular job outside of the government? Where was he raised? Was he ever in the military service and, if so, which branch and where did he serve? What was his college degree? Does he live in Kansas?Even though he is a U.S. Senator from Kansas, he is a kind of mystery man. Don’t remember talking to him around Kansas.

If Brownback is as smart as I think he is he will distance himself from Quisling Bush. They key for him is to take a hardline on immigration, deficits and affirmative action. In other words he needs to be a REAL conservative and not israel first, wall street first traitor that Bush has been!

All of the Kansas representatives have the tant of the R.R. about them. Either through panding to them or being amoung them.

I have only personally spoken with Tiehart, he is quite the politican. Saying just what you want to hear without a word of what he will do.

If we are smart the people will oust them and be watchful of those running. The religious right are not ready to return to their churches yet. They have power with the vote and numbers to impact any election. The American public needs to react else their will become the law of the land.

The question remains, “Are they the majority?”.

My wish list is all I have till we actually see who does run.

Collin PowellI believe him to be an honest man, that put him on the outs with Bush&co. Though I doubt he will run.

John Mc cainThose recently he did try to pander to the R.R. He did back up and realized it was a mistake. otherwise he seem to be honorable.

John EdwardsI think if the ticket had been the other way around. He might have been called President Edwards.

The wish they do not run list:Hillery ClintonSorry to my Democratic friends, but the name leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. She just seemed to be born with a politicans tougue. I just can not believe a word she speaks.

Condy RiceTo close to Bush and has sold her soul to him. She is smart and well spoken. And would more then likely be her own person. But is just not trustworthy.

John DeanHe is smart, but is also a loose canon. would have gotten the Democratic knod if he could have reined himself in. LoL he and I have the same problem. Too short a trip between the brain and mouth.Sometime speaks before we think it through enough to think better of what we say.

Anyone Republican that I did not list.Sorry to my Republican friends, but so far we are still intagled with the Neo-cons and R.R. I am not sure who to trust and whom to avoid.

The problem with a Libertian is, the way our governmental system is set up. You either need to have a majority party in place or make a deal. Unless the libertians win a large number of seats in the house and senate. A Libertian President would be out numbered on both sides. Leaving making a deal, which would have them at the mercy of both the Democrats and Republicans. And we all know, God have mercy on anyone left to the mercy of those people!
