The United Nations’ oil-for-food scandal extends far beyond the United Nations, according to the fifth and final report by an independent committee released Thursday. More than half of the 4,700 companies that were part of the program paid illegal kickbacks to Saddam Hussein totaling $1.8 billion. Still, former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Paul Volcker, who headed the investigation, stressed that the private corruption shouldn’t draw attention away from the need for the United Nations to have much better management procedures and controls. “The central point, he said, “is that it all adds up to the same story. You need some pretty thoroughgoing reforms at the U.N.”

Hmmmm. Wonder why no mention of George Galloway, the gigantic flaming socialist liberal, taking $600,000 from the Oil for Food program and possible perjury charges.
Funny how the libs arn’t going after this. The UN has always been a fairly corrupt organization. They started out with the right idea, but it’s turned into power, as in, who can control it.Clintons major sin as a President, was putting too much faith in the UN.My question is: Why would anybody be surprised by the latest news about the blatant elitism going on there?
You should read the original document. It has a CHAPTER on George Galloway. Doesn’t look good for him according to the report.
The media isn’t reporting much on the specifics of the report. Apparently nobody wants to read the 600 and some pages . . .
There are two reports in pdf. One is a summary, and one is the full report. The summary is longer than most books.
There is a reason the media isn’t reporting and educating the public on this serious issue. Maybe that ‘reason’ is a story in itself. Maybe there ought to be an investigation into why there was not an investigation.
What do you think, Phil?
Or should I do your work for you?
This could be your break. Your chance to get out of this bastian of social conservative single-minded fat cats.
You hit this one on the head and you could be headed for the Washington Post or the New York times. But then, you would be exposing the very people that would be hiring you.
